White Cliffs of Dover, July 2023: Second World War Fan Bay Number 3 Gun archaeological dig.

During a walk along the clifftops of Dover a National Trust volunteer invited us to visit the recently uncovered Fan Bay Number 3 Gun site. It had only been a few days since the site had been cleared. How lucky we felt to see a little piece of history come to life.
The group of interested tourists I was with pleaded with our tour guide to open the door to the newly exposed armoury tunnel. The huge metal door was not original but was there to protect the tunnel inside. Super cool that we were allowed a sneak peek!
