- Getting the new deer rilfe set up and broke in! Absolutely love this rife! It is a Bergara Wilderness Hunter in 308 win. It has the grey cerakote barrel (22 inch) and receiver, a fluted (spiraled ) bolt, their performance trigger and guaranteed 1 MOA at 100 yards. Topped it off with a new Leupold VX-R
4-12x40 ( 30 mm tube ) with long range duplex and fire dot. Broke the barrel in with Remington core-lok 150 grain and it shot amazing for factory ammo. Cant wait to see how it does with hand loads! Come back to see how the reloads do and how it performs at 100 yards! - Спорт
I have damn near the exact same setup, bergara ridge 308 with leupold vxr 4-12 308, it’s a hammer.
Can’t beat that combo!!
Was looking to get this same exact set up. Same scope and rifle. Great video brother.
Awesome man hope everything works out you definitely won’t regret the decision!!
Picking mine up tomorrow… appreciate the barrel breakin knowledge
How u like it?
Love it
I have the green one in 6.5 creedmoor and the Sandish one in 308 and I love ‘em
Ive got the b14 wilderness ridge sp version. Love this gun
Bad ass!!!
Nice looking gun, i hear alot of good things about the bergaras
Thanks! And I have too and so far I love mine!
Love mine over my 6.5 creedmoor
This is the rifle I'm looking at right now. Bit of an all arounder for me, and with the .308 something I will be able to put a lot of cheaper rnd practice thru. Any updates would be appreciated. Thx for the vid.
Will try to do an end of season review on it!
Don't see many people using those bore sight tools. Tip in case you don't do it. I have one of the first Rem 700 Sendaros I purchased when they were first introduced in the late 90's, 25-06 with 26" heavy barrel. I worked up loads for it, ended up with a 100 gr. Nolser ballistic tip. Using that bore sight tool, I used graph paper to mark the zero at 100 yds for my records along with load data. I have not hunted in many years, but today, I can remove the scope and reinstall, set the zero back per the paper graph chart matching bore sight tool and it will be perfect with those same handloads. I used that method with bore sight tool if I hit the scope and wanted to check zero but didn't have time to shoot it prior to hunting.
Been thinking about getting a Bergara 6.5, still hard to beat the Rem 700 Sendaro 25-06. I have not shot that rifle in 4-5 years, took it to the range a few weeks ago and it still shoots a 5 shot ragged hole at 100 yds off a bipod.
I never thought about doing that with the graph paper to make zero that’s a good idea!!
@@justusmccainhunting - It works, I have one for every bolt rifle I own. Works great for hand loaders.
I definitely need to do that I reload all my ammo for my deer rifles
Yo I cannot find any of the new production SP’s with fluted bolts
When You Broke It In , What Did You Use To Clean It With ? Thanks . Oh Yeah I Just Got One Just Like It .... It Looks Like Hoppes . Is It Number 9 Or Copper ?
I used the regular Hoppes number 9!
Also congrats on your new gun you won’t be disappointed!!
My Bergara Hunter in 7mm-08 never shot well for me with the 3 types of ammo of tried. I know they are accurate because their reputation is too good.
The accuracy issues and the bolt hanging up on me on a whitetail follow up shot was the last straw. May try one in the future but they are too close to Tikka's in price for me not to take a Tikka after the Hunter experience.
Man I hate to hear that! And tikka makes a good gun for sure!
@@justusmccainhunting I bought a .270 WSM Hunter T3x, 7mm-08 T3x, and a .308 Roughtech T3x . All were sub-moa on their first range trip with factory ammo. I don't shoot enough anymore to be a great shot so I was pretty impressed with the accuracy out of the box.
I've tried a couple of Weatherbys as well. Tikka are the only ones I've had great luck with using factory ammo.
They are shooters
168 smk, 26moa to 700. You’ll get tired of banging steel
How do they perform on big game? I’ve never shot them before!
@@justusmccainhunting I don’t recommend it, I’ve killed a lot of coyotes with them and they zip right through. They don’t transfer energy well into the animal.
Ah I got ya!
How is it in paper?
With 150 grain Remington core lock shooting 3/4 inch at 100 with hand loads shooting .3 at 100 yards
Hand loads are 150 grain Hornady interlok
@@justusmccainhunting anymore videos coming?
Hopefully soon!
Been shooting them long distance for years the premiere series swsome guns not a fan of 308 at all but u can find ammo ..
Waste of ammo 50 yards....?
