As a 1st Dan in TKD we NEED to see more of this in EVERY legitimate dojang and put a stop to the preconceived notion that TKD is only what you see in the Olympics
@@zshakur That's the problem, of course it's better you know this than not knowing nothing, in a knife attack situation, but there are more effective ways to defend against an attacker using a knife.
It's more to train reaction. Not every knife wielding assailant is a trained killer so it's possible. "Reality" is just a matter of speed and intention. Hard to simulate, but not impossible to train for.

Taekwondo done right would be too similar to Karate and/or Hapkido. And we can't have that, can we. Imagine implementing grappling defense, throws and striking + TKD kicks....

The offense is your defense is nicely shown. That is a concept of many Krav Maga and other styles teachings too. But while this teaser is flashy I miss grappling defense. And the knife defense... any technique is better than no technique. Still I hope knife defense involves defending vs. 1 arm holding the victim and the other spamming cuts and thrusts quickly. And we all know how you defend vs. a knife in general ;)... right, you don't. Looks cool, though and I would do that seminar for the strike defense.
This is work only for self-defend or some bullies ,if you’re are want to deal with someone like you( same lvl , same dang or master some martial art like ,karate , boxing) you have to train your skill like durable ,speed,flexible,mind game.

Adville747 and I’m a 1st Dan in TKD with 6 years of experience. Saying that TKD is only stunts is like saying that Kung Fu is only wushu. Furthermore TKD, real TKD and not what you just mentioned, comes from Shotokan Karate. So it does have hand strikes, blocks, and everything else. Don’t believe me? Search TaeKwonDo hand strikes on here and look for the videos by TaeKwonDoCentral. And also Olympic TaeKwonDo, which is not the real deal, only does kicking. How do I know it’s not real TKD? One reason is that TKD translates to “way of the foot and fist” but yet Olympic TaeKwonDo is only kicking.

Fight moves devised by civilized people who don't often get beat up. The first minute shows stuff that might work to discourage an untrained opponent, at the knife defense i hit the eject button. An experienced, determined attacker would just tear these guys to pieces.
Two martial arts with NO self-defense application. Your average person wants to learn self-defense, not be a professional fighter. Not saying that TKD wouldn't work in the ring.

So you're saying that Muay Thai and kickboxing, two styles used in MMA, are trash since all three share a lot of the same kicks and some of the hand strikes. And BTW like Muay Thai, TKD has elbows and knees.

I served, mandatory, in foreign country army before I came to the US as an exchanged student, and I am now naturalized Citizen in Republic state of Texas. I am neither a student anymore nor part of left wing. Now! instead of ad hominem attack, can you enlighten me on how TKD have anything to do with room clearing (a skill that I was taught by the best and taught to Dallas PD as part of my curriculum) and how bayonet fight is relevant when the even the army removed bayonet lug from their firearm to save weight?

Its called a hint, when the strongest armies on Earth drop the Bayonet from their weapon training program. Even if I give you that bayonet is still in use as weapon widely, which I do not, what about TKD that enhance bayonet skill? Would a weapon based martial art be a better training method?

And the situations presented are in fantasy land too, look impressive to civilian. But for anyone that took CQB classes this is terrible. Your video should be show to students as "what not to do in CQB". Let me break it down for you: +Walk into an unknown room with your weapon stick out without pie the door is a fail. +Walk into a middle of a potential cross fire zone is a fail. +Approach a target without first commend them to lay on the ground is a fail. +Draw weapon when entangle with the enemy is a fail. Even ignore all of that, the fighting technique in the video are mostly clinch work, which is Muay Thai or any grapping style specialty. What does TKD have anything to do with this? Please! If you don't know things, just admit that you don't. This kind of crap is what got people killed. And group your comment together, it is hard to answer multiple comments all at one.

The part that they are counter-attacking or intercepting the punchs, are really cool and effective. But the knife defense, isn't effective.
Risky, absolutely. Flashy, a bit. But not ineffective, just impractical. Train everything. Situations changes applications.

It's actually Filipino Kali (Arnis). The Grandmaster is a Kali instructor in Korea- he combined TKD with Filipino Empty Hands.
