2 years? Wow. I thought it was yesterday i found your videos. And as usual great work! Thanks for sharing the complete build. Best wishes from Austria!
Next episode will be the final in the series!? Oh wow! I'm sad to not have more episodes but I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU to have seen the build through to completion. I am very excited to see the final product and waiting two years for it was WELL WORTH IT. Noone will be able to say you didn't do your best with this project and I greatly admire your discipline. Great job!!!!
Really love the humorous parts of the videos, more of this please 😊 ( makes the sanding more tolerable 😂) Great work on the car. Looking forward to seeing the finished product 😊
The hot glue trick to hold the bumper support in the right spot, so you could pull the bumper and weld it, is a great idea. I never would have thought of that. For stuff like that, I just do a baby tack weld, and then trial and error until it fits lol. That's going in my mental tool box for sure
I think it could be done with magnets as well but the glue let me slide it a little into the exact right spot before it set. When you do it, make sure to let the hot glue cool again after your tacks and then just peel it off the metal rather than forgetting about it and letting it melt all over everything and contaminate the surface while you're welding.
Never seen anyone actually glue metal together 😂 always tell people thats my job. Great stuff, keep it up, keen for the end result. Ill be referring to your previous videos when i go to fibreglass my patrol guards and flares
Hats off to you brother, to me it looked great 20 episodes ago 😂 it’s gonna look amazing I’m sure 👌🏻 durablock should send you a golden block for all the screen time they’ve had.
what have we learned from this build to build a project car you need: 5% welding skills 5% engineering skills 10% 3d desinging/scanning skills 10% painting skills 70% sanding skills Just kidding, awesome as usual, waiting for the final result, this should be the best Stagea ever, dude!
Fabulous as ever, thanks for sharing, sat watching whilst relaxing from shoveling snow from the drive ready for work tomorrow, and look at you in yer summer PPE vest & flipflops 😂😅
Ah yeah, you know, it can be pretty tough working out here doing what I love on a nice sunny day surrounded by nature sipping on a cold beer. Real tough. 😂
Hell yeah we're starting the first Sunday of the year right, with some glorious SANDING! But seriously though, the intricate detail you go into getting everything nicely lined up and cleanly prepped is probably the thing I've enjoyed the most watching you work on this (and the MX5).
From hacking opening the gasless black paint aerosol to “Mary Had a Little Lamb” (perfect for your home country) on the editing software, what a delicious TAW start to 2025. Cheers and happy new year from near Aspen, CO, US.
I’m so happy this is finally finished ❤ but I’m also absolutely devastated this is finally finished! And omg I can’t wait to see what’s next. Happy new year!
Hello. I'm always watching from Japan. Your work, which has a lot of respect for Japanese cars, is very interesting to watch. I'm really looking forward to seeing what color the GTRSTAGIA body will be.
Man, you are jewellery maker! Please, say, have you are free time without a garage work??)) only for sleeping?))))) crazy project, i looks it from the beginning, and not often publicated videos, make my ASMR vibrisses have a good vibes. Thanks you for your job, man. I very hope the youtube had payed money for you for yours job too..
Cheers bro, That's who it's all for. Yeah I could probably finish these cars quicker if I didn't have to film and edit but sharing the build is half the fun. Thanks for your support bro!
Love the build. Can I make one critique though? Refrain from using copper primer. It actually speeds up corrosion rather than preventing it. Check out the galvanic series table online. Welding and cutting with a vest on was gnarly 🤘🏻
Cheers mate, and yeah honestly I've never really been to big on this copper weld through, it always tends to flake off where I've welded anyway so thats what the cavity wax afterwards is for. If I had options I'd probably get the zinc stuff as I hear that's a bit better but not really many options where I'm at.
@ yeah I done a test and left loads of samples of different primers on metals outside and the copper primer was the first and worst to rust. According to the galvanic table it causes steel to rust when there’s moisture so there might be a chance it’s ok when covered with wax. If you can get it where you are, the best zinc I used was hb body zinc weld through.
Tape is fine when you're working on something cheap and unimportant like a Porsche, but this is a Nissan Stagea, it deserves a little more time and effort 😂
Why you left about a meter of bumper upper support frame to hang in the air? There is alot of free place to make else two mount points around a hood lock... As you made the bumper middle will hang out and and may sag, I guess...
I know your channel and passion is in JDM autos, but would you ever consider doing a kit for the old Nissan Hardbody (d21) Truck? Also, while not made in Japan, I know they have a cult following in the auto scene there, I would love to see your design eye on a wide body for the 1st Gen Mini Cooper (2001-2006). A few companies in Japan made really nice kits, but all have stopped production, and there isn't really anything of quality for that car anymore.
Not a D21 but I have always wanted to build a Datsun Sunny truck, maybe even with a Hakosuka front end. There are so many cars I want to work on ranging from classic euros, american muscle, minitrucks, EV's and everything in between. I'd love it if this channel gives me a chance to work on all of them. The classic mini is absolutely one that I'd love to work on but due to it's popularity, I doubt I could really offer something that different to what's out there already. I tend to enjoy working on more obscure platforms that don't typically get a lot of love.
Do you live in a rainy region? I look in the videos that it rains frequently and if right now in Spain we are in the coldest part of winter, there in New Zealand, which is our antipodes, it must be the middle of summer, right? Sorry for my google translate English. Awesome work!!
@@bamboosho0t Definitely, the muffler that's on there at the minute is a bit scraped up so I do need to swap it out at some point. Maybe after the build series is finished because we all know project cars are never really done.
Been loving the build, but I was wondering for a while now. Doesn't this kind of kit usually need a suspension geometry correction? Since it does look to be quite a few cm wider both front and rear.
Not really. The only time you have to do anything dramatic for your suspension is when you are lowering it significantly as that will change the angle of all of your arms and introduce a lot of negative camber. Wider offset wheels just mean you're at more risk of scrubbing your tyres on your inner fenders.
I'm from NZ where utes are common so there's not really any reason to convert something when you could just go out and get one. That being said, this stagea could be a fun platform for something like that.
For now yes, but as you saw in this video, it's pretty easy. It also leaves it free to everyone to come up with their own solutions, some people may chose to repurpose the front core support from an R35, some may chose a full tube front end. There's plenty of ways to fondue a mongoose so leaving it up to the end user is often better. Every widebody install will require cutting and welding of the rear quarter panels and so it's an assumption that anybody doing this will have basic welding skills or at least friends / contacts that can do it.
Your work is.. tedious. Yet impeccable and unique. I would like to ask. Have you considered doing more popular vehicles so that you would have a larger customer base? Granted, your miata kit has to be doing well, everyone wants those cars as they are super popular. I was thinking corvettes, mustangs, ANY truck would be instant as that's the most sold vehicle in America. Also, any thoughts on adding 3d printers? I'm in no way telling you what you are doing is wrong. I'm a complete noob to this. It's just curiosity and what I see others doing and using.
Thanks mate. I think this is a good example of different perspectives and audiences because over here, we don't really have many of those cars you listed and also guys that buy them might not necessarily be interested in what I like to do. But the reason I work on the sorts of cars that I do is because I actually go out of my way to AVOID working on popular cars. There's too many influencers out there all getting the same cars and making it popular while driving the prices so high that your regular person can't even afford them. Because of that, I try and take a car that nobody really cares about and make a kit to turn it into something awesome. Anybody can make a kit for an Rx7 or an R34 that looks cool, because the car was already cool. In fact you could make a kit that looks worse than the original and the finished car would still be cool. It's much more rewarding to make something cool out of a base that was originally quite ugly.
Please, don't take my question in the bad way, is real curiosity... How many kilos of bondo, fiber and resin do you use per car? More interested in the mazda, but this nissan is awesome too!
It's all good to ask bro. So this project is a little different from usual because what I'm doing most of the time is making plugs and moulds which don't end up staying on the car, so yeah I've definitely gotten through a few tubs of filler, but none of that stays on the car. What you see me adding in this episode is actually the only body filler I've used in this entire build series that will be staying on the car when it's done, and it was less than half of a 1L container before sanding it off. The point of making all the moulds is so that I can make fresh fiberglass parts with no need for filler. On my mazda I make a lot more one-off stuff and those are usually a bit rougher and so they end up needing filler over the top which makes them a little heavier.
Outside of UA-cam do you work in the auto body field......... just asking cuz I've been an auto body technician for 20 years..... and you seem to know what you're doing
Spent like one summer in a panel shop but other than that not really. Just a lot of DIY and figuring things out through my own mistakes. No doubt you also so me doing a lot of things incorrectly too haha.
The best sanding channel on YT.
That blurred out shock shaft had me in tears 😂.
Friggin genius 👌
Why it had to be censored?
40:00 best part 😂 lol and the rest of the video awesome as always
Jesus it’s finally ready for paint. It’s been enjoyable watching you work on this. Keep up the hard work brother.
I can't believe how long I dragged my feat with this build eh hahah

I alway play your videos in the background so I can concentrate on whatever I'm currently working on. 😆 helps me concentrate
Clever bit of editing, were you going for jingle bells or Mary had a little lamb?
Jingle bells would have been a lot more appropriate for the season considering some of that sanding was actually filmed on Christmas day haha.
Like a surgeon. Magnificent work. Looking forward to seeing it painted.

Awww yisss. White with blue pearl!
exceptional comedy in this one!

R35 Stagea Is Real 😂
Dont need to weld, just use roof tape to seal the quater panel. Thats what rwb teach us .

That things adorable
what ? Paint ? Does this mean there will be no more sanding ? But I'm a sanding fetichist ! I need my sanding weekly dose !

Awesome work!!
Yes, in New Zealand the weather is always changing and so even in Summer it will rain a lot even if the sun is still out. Thank you!
Hot glue gun and MIG welder... basically same-same - only slight difference in temperature and thinkness of the "wire".
Welding is hot glue, and fiberglass is paper mache. Working on cars is just arts and crafts with a little cancer sprinkled in. 😂
How does it feel to see your MX5 as a Hotwheels diecast?! 😆
Pretty damn sick. It almost makes me regret changing all the bodywork since then.
*my gadddddddd is happening!*
Will this lovely build be receiving a derivative of the VR38DETT, or perhaps another Nissan powerplant? ❤
It already comes with a VQ35DE making it more powerful than I'll ever need a simple tow vehicle to be.
