Ravel's popular Suite No. 2 from Daphnis and Chloe is among his best known and most often performed works. Toscanini gives a very good performance here which is lushly detailed, and the sound quality from the early era of tape is highly satisfying.

This performance underscores what a virtuoso orchestra the NBC really was. If you told me this was the Philadelphia under Stokowski or Ormandy, I'd be hard pressed to argue. And the Carnegie Hall acoustics are beautifully restored here.
