- So, what do we have here? Another level where you get chased by something big? For the most part, yes. However, this level also has a secred path that is kinda tricky.
One thing that annoys me in this video is that I managed to walk back down after jumping on that checkpoint at 1:50. I only lost time, but it annoys me anyway. - Ігри
How dare Aku Aku swear to protect you, then flee soon after he sees a giant polar bear!
Sucks that Aku Aku masks were made to be prohibited for riding and chase levels in this game :/

This level use to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid.

My childhood right here, this level used to scare me when i was little the music really adds to that
This, in my opinion, was the greatest Crash Bandicoot game and quite possibly one of the greatest video games of all time.
god, i really miss this era. and you can only appreciate it if you grew up playing these games. this is a real throwback to stress free times ^_^
When i first saw the big Polar Bear it haunted my dreams when i was young.

When I was a kid, the boulder levels already scared me. And then I saw this level and I was like "O_O HOLY CRAP! It's a bear!". I was TERRIFIED!!

I hated this level as a kid. They just had to add the stupid wood fences for this one!

this level was so epically epic in every way possible.
When you were cutting it really fine and legged it into the tunnels where you could have a quick break, Crash would sometimes dive in too - that was a great touch too.
This polar bear was and still a savge to this year. Every time you die, he laughs at you.
I was like, "F*ck you!" And I would've given him the middle finger for laughing at me in anger.
The first time I played this level years ago I was thinking "Bah, another rock running level".
When the f*cking bear comes down, I was: "ZOMG"!

Road to Ruin did not have to be entered through the secret warp room in order to get 100% completion.

I ran screaming into my dad's room and begged him to do the level for me. I was traumatized for years.
This level frustrated me not because I got killed by the bear frequently, but I had hard time finding the hidden boxes, until I tried to jump on the broken bridge.
@Kongenator I know that secret to Totally Bear I think. I'm Talking about Pause at when crash hops off polar. HE DISAPPEARED 1 second after you jumped EX : Pause At 4:09 There Is No Polar where He Hopped offf at.
I manage to complete Road to Ruin in one shot WITHOUT going through this level first. And I got the video to prove it.
If you guys are missing 2 boxes. look at 1:55 when Garland jupms in the air and breaks the 2 hidden boxes.

I remember the first time I entered this stage, I saw it is a backward stage and I was thinking: "Oh well... Another Boulder Stage" and when I saw that bear I was like "HOLY SHIT WTF IS THAT? O_O"

in the secret after you get the checkpoint, near the aku aku mask jump to other grass platform and jump high to get to two life boxes on the top. good luck

Mostly im thinking about the giant snowball cause it works if it hits you once. You should try it.
Crash Bandicoot 2 was my favorite Crash game because they introduced so many new things; this level was my FAVORITE.
Also, I remember you could see this Polar Bear behemoth frozen in ice in Crash Team Racing.

no it's only just CB2 that does it i just played CB1 and did boulders just then and i still had my 2nd mask (i call it super aku aku) so it's the CB2 ones you need to worry about

I love the polar bear in the Crash Bandicoot series when it was developed by Naughty Dog. It was F**king Awesome and the missions were fun too.

Yep. Just today after watching this video I thought "hey let's pick all the fruit." SUDDENLY THE TWO BOXES I WAS MISSING FOR AROUND 2 YEARS AND HALF.
Cool one Naught Dog. And you still got me wondering where did I miss ONE, (yes, ONE) box in Cold hard Crash. Remember the infuriating ice level with 155 boxes? Well, that one.
if you have a mask and get chased by something it automaticlally goes away this does not happen in Crash Bandicoot:Warped and later

Well you see, everytime the chase starts the tiki mask will disappear, because you need to give the bear a chance, and if the tiki mask was still there, there bear would be infront of you. And that would just be no fun at all.

Because these vids are about getting 100%... the crystals and the gems, neither of which are in any boss fights in this game.

lol guys i've found an exploit @ 1:58, those 2 life boxes, if u keep getting them and dying right after u can get unlimited lifes :P they arent replaced by "?" boxes after u take them first time.. so thats like u take 2 lifes and lose 1 dying ^^
I discover the secret level in that level because i fell worried if polar fall down too, i just go to look if he has fine, when i see him, i go near to him because i want to pat him (R1 or circle), and o.o, i found it...
It's probably the two boxes he hits at 1:56 ... also, a secret of the game is that if you collect those two lives, you can die and go back and collect them again ... easy way to build up some extra lives
@mariguanetor The newer ones cant compare with the ones for PS1. I would like that whoever owns Crash give him another chance since franchise like Rayman are coming back to life.
Can anyone help me on this? I've watched this vid time and time again and have seen where every box is buy I'm always left with 2 left. And that's even with me getting the ones that the bear can crush (as seen in the vid). So lost!
