The rematch between Conor McGregor (22-4) and Dustin Poirier (26-6, 1 NC) is official for January 23, 2021 at the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Poirier and McGregor had their first fight at UFC 178 in 2014 where McGregor won by first-round knockout.
This rematch initially came about in September when the two tried to set up the bout for charity, until the promotion offered them an official match.
Since their first meeting at UFC 178, both Poirier and McGregor have realized UFC gold. Mcgregor dethroned the featherweight king Jose Aldo in 2015, and the lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in 2016. McGregor relinquished both titles before attempting to defend them. After leaving the sport for almost two years to box Floyd Mayweather Jr., the irishman returned to take on the lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The russian submitted McGregor in the forth round with a neck crank and added another win to his perfect record. The only fight McGregor has had after this was against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 earlier this year. This was a near perfect performance by McGregor as he violently finished Cerrone only 40 seconds into the first round.
After Dustin Poirier's loss to Conor McGregor in 2014, he has fought 13 times and has established himself as a legend and future hall of famer in the sport. Poirier managed to win the interim lightweight after beating Max Holloway at UFC 236 in 2019. He then went on to lose the unification bout to the lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 the same year. At UFC Vegas 4 in June, Poirier came back strong by beating Dan Hooker after a five round war.
On Jan. 23 we head back to Fight Island for UFC 257, but Dustin Poirier and McGregor will not be fighting for any gold. It is still unclear what Khabib Nurmagomedov ultimately decides to do moving forward. After his most recent successfull title defense against the former interim champion Justin Gaethje (UFC 254), he announced his retirement right after the fight. However Dana white is not in a rush of putting the lightweight title up for grabs yet.

If anybody knows the name og the person asking the question, please let me know!🤙🏻
Love your work! Keep it up
Yes best Promo vids I've ever seen
That's Dan Hardy's mate (forgot his name) They have a UA-cam channel called Full Reptile. Awesome content, unique perspectives and all round humble thoughtful dude.
It's the boys from Full Reptile, Dan Hardy's company. They got a UA-cam channel, podcasts, merch, the whole shabang! (I think his name might be Ollie but they're more about the brand than the individuals)
So Khabib did make Connor Humble
This was so sick, seeing conor emotional was cool. Wish he was like this more often.
last time he was emotional he lost to khabib so I mean.
@@hmb6188 The world would be a better place without people like you. Haha! I’m not a Conor fan, but what’s even the point of your comment? This was a cool video. Your guy beat him two years ago, move on.
if he was like this more often it wouldn't be as special
@@soonerborn7603 u bet ur ass he did
@@hmb6188 Congrats...? You act like you did something. Haha! Have fun living through Khabib’s accomplishments though.
So glad you made this, when I heard it , it was a moment like off a movie
If you can’t admire Conor’s mindset and the strides he’s made in front of everyone, your just a hater.
His mindset is money. He is most certainly one of the best in the mental warfare game and trash-talking, but when all is said and done, he does it for business and business only.
@@hmb6188 How is him being focused on money a bad thing? The quote was about him not stopping until the people he cares about are successful too; it's not like he's selfish with it, he just enjoys living lavishly with the people close to him
@@hmb6188 I would think at this point in his life. Money is the last thing on his mind! He already has that. So, stands to reason any fight beyond that is for a different purpose
@@hmb6188 If his mindset was money he would’ve stuck to boxing, not the UFC.
This might sound weird but I genuinely like this video even more after what happened. Reminded me of everything he HAS done.
A lot of people watch MMA. A LOT Fewer compete. Too scared to risk what happened Conor at the weekend. Conor took risks and was rewarded massively for them and achieved and experienced more than most would over a thousand lifetimes. What a life is right!
Fuck the hate. Living legend.
Thats amazing comment ! Feel it same way to be fair...it was hell of a ride for Conor and the best part is he is not done yet
It’s hard to hate on someone who’s busted their ass their whole life to get where they are today. Man is it special to watch someone who didn’t have much work their ass off to become successful
For someone who wants more highlights he's certainly starting strong
This channel creates the best promos and videos. There's no competition when it comes to MMA promos. All of these can give you motivation, get you hyped for a fight or be used as perfect audio when training.
May Allah guide us all to the truth
And protect us from going astray ...
All the best fella !!! ❤
He’s really turning a new leaf isn’t he? I’m enjoying this new Conor. Coming from a long time hater
That's what becoming a dad does and his son is old enough to understand. I believe he wants to be a role model for his children and not act like he used to
@@MikoKoivisto-lf9ed its such a cliche but its true
@@og8263 true
People saying this (and no offense at all) just don’t realize that he is this guy always. Sure he talks some shi* and acts a fool at times but this video is who he is at his core and has always showed us this side of him every chance he got. On the surface people see an asshole. But if you follow him there is loads of footage of him also being this guy you see in the video. He’s real, passionate, not afraid to be misunderstood, driven, hard working and quite honestly an insane genius. Sure I’ll get called a Conor d rider but quite honestly idgaf. The dude has inspired my life in more ways than I can express. Watching his rise to the top and the way he is about his craft and life helped me get out of a depressed and lost state I was in for quite some time. I started working out, researching the stuff I loved, spent all my extra time dedicating myself to what I wanted to do and started a business. Working on the next venture now. The dude is complex as are ALL of us. We aren’t just what people say we are. We are whoever tf we want to be. We are complex beings and putting this man in one box is an absolute miscalculation and a complete disrespect to the artist in which is Mystic Mac.
Much love to all of you -I’ve lost my mind
Love this!!
I knew when I heard one of the reptiles ask this it was going to be potent - blew all the other media out the park.
Shout out full reptile on YT!!
Great little compilation on this! Thumbs up.
It was such a special moment during the conference ❤️
UFC should be paying you for the work you do
Oh you know we’ve allllll been waiting for this one 🔥
I am a long time Conor fan, and the way this man told the quote and asked the question, with the music in the background, it literally made me choke up!
this one hits different. good job man
There was something massively beautiful about that moment - thank you for capturing it like that 🙏
Amazing edit man - gave me chills - this video will mean so much more and carry so much impact if Conor fulfils this masterpiece he has been telling everyone he will paint inside the octagon this weekend - however the journey is the journey and it was one hell of a journey - blessed to see him fight again and blessed to see him fix his internal issues and come back a better man, fighter and father
On point man , awsome
This man is the reason I started to fight in the first place
In a way mma saved my life and gave me a purpose
One day I would love to meet Conor and thank him
Legend
Best promo I’ve seen in a while. Simple and moving.
It doesn't really matter what people say, the kind of excitement #ConorMcgregor brings to the fight game wherever, whoever & whenever he fights is unmatchable.
He was, is & will always be my most fav 🤩 combat athlete.
Beautiful video and great work ❤️❤️
Love ur work💖🔥🔥🔥
Nicely done. I almost cried brooo
I listen to your videos when I workout because all of your vids are super motivating and inspiring
Solid work as always!!
Man. I was watching Conor since 2013. I was only 21 years old. I basically grew up as a man watching him through his whole wild rise to fame and glory. He lost me and many others with all the drama especially punching an old man. But, knowing how this fight turned out, and seeing him in this promo. I don't know. Felt like watching a hero die. Lessons learned from him in glory, and in defeat turns out.
Bruv you and Kugan ask the big man questions humbling af! Excellent questions and great work
This was so beautiful 💯
That was just amazing !
Awesome video bro ❤‼👌
Keep it up, make more
Wow mate, great job :D
The music makes it so good dude, whats the name the song?
Brilliant
Omg guys I swear u are great....
Flawless 🙏🏻
simple and sharp
It was so cool.....
luv to see this fighter after it happens it's gonna be intense
Top Drawer Mate
never give up my friends. no matter what. there are some dark days, but it will all be good eventually. stay humble but at the same time stay hungry and stay ready. peace.
Let's talk now really works.
👌
This Saturday is going to happen
Anyone have the original interview from 2013 where this quote is taken from?
👍🏾
iiiiiiits TIIIIIIME!!!!!
Fucking love it❤️
*"YELLO..."*
Oh shit..wrong channel
I literally heard this haha
He’s human god damn
God bless his crazy mind. But that mind set made him a very rich man. UFC truly helped him get there...💃🏻
& in return he helped earning billions for UFC as well
Khabib said he will make Conor humble....and he did it
Come on bro !! Khasuals are so annoying now a days !! Two years have passed by and you are still there . He has kids growing up and he can't trash talk like he used to becz he wants them to see him as a role model not a fight seller
Which music in background?
Till it’s gone by rsm
Whats the background music called?
It’s shown in the left of video 0:06 till it’s gone really slow motion
Sometimes I feel like I should get paid for seeing right through people and be able to climb those high walls they build as defense mechanism towards the cruelty the world brings alone with its people. Swear to my Ancestors I've always have a respect for this guy for how we treat his loved ones from friends to family.
song/music name?
Till It’s Gone by Really Slow Motion🤙🏻
@@axiomcombat9137 great choice, thank you!
"I will make him humble" someone's says this and looks like he is humble until he forget what has happened in 2018
I think becoming a father made him more humble than losing to Khabib
Khabib changed him, humbled him, and we love the new conor
Stfu🤣 it's natural progression as a person, if a loss was gonna change him it would have been the nate loss that was much worse. He's just made a change in his sportsmanship not trying to sell fights with trash talk anymore.
@@haseebvirk8550 yep it proves the point more, he did not change attitude after nate loss, still he has become different now why?well khabib did not just beat him, he whooped his ass and ego
@@ayoubsari1971 no man, his attitude towards khabib us mostly the same. I think you're having trouble understanding, I'm saying bare beat him worse, actually damaged him and finished him earlier, but that didn't humble him so why would a loss to khabib do that. Its simply him focusing on competition instead of trashtalk to sell fights, hes always been humbled after fights always, trash talk was a part of his appeal but now hes doesn't do that. Nothing to do with khabib
:(
WAR Conor!
Well, Conor got his first MMA KO at Poirier’s hands. How we feeling?
First
The guy reading that quote was pretty cringey to me but to each their own I suppose.
It was a great moment to me. Look how it affected Conor. 🙏🏼
It is indeed the right decision for mc gregor to retire ... since being defeated by khabib mc gregor is no longer a talkative person😂
