I like the way you fish flies with a bobber and your spinning outfit. I remember fishing a stocked reservoir my dad took me to in CA when I was a kid. I was fishing with salmon eggs and marshmallows or something like that. I look over to a ledge above me where someone was fishing with a clear bubble and a shaggy looking bait tied a few feet below it. He'd cast out and reel in slowly, and to my astonishment hooked into a big trout. I now know he was probably fishing a wooly bugger or something like it. I'll always remember that and have always thought that was a badass way of going after trout. I'm glad you like that method as well!
Love fishing memories like that! - I just feel so much more comfortable with a spinning combo in my hands, when I use a fly rod it’s like holding a foreign object.
So many people complain about California and its high prices but hey, you can see what we have to protect right? Yosemite is a gem of the planet for sure!
The fist thing I thought about was Huell Howser he has a story & ya can’t forget that name of the area your in. But there’s been a few things in my life that wowed me & going through Yosemite was one of them it’s spectacular.
I was down there on the last day of the season last year. Caught a couple of nice browns and say a massive rainbow in one of the deep pool but couldn’t get it to hit anything. Love that area.
Did you fish the Merced river in the valley? I was there in March and saw some pools of rainbows probably several hundred deep.. was very tempted to just risk the fishing out of season ticket 😂 of course reservations during open season are impossible to get!
I live in Southern California near Malibu I would be down to do a video with you showing you some kayak ocean fishing for calico sand bass halibut and more along with a unique way of spearing Corbina
If you look on PBS they have a documentary called "from wilderness to water" that shows the building of Hetch Hetchy dam. The reservoir has a granite basin and is some of the most pristine water in the world.
suscribed brother. for 3 reasons: awesome positive attitude, clear concise narration of the story and plan of the day, great video shots of the location and action!
It's too early in the air right now we had a chance of rain and snow, those Rivers Don't mellow out until summer time. Fishing doesn't get decent until usually early July
I only own Pflueger reels. I have used them forever and they are great for a cheap price. This rod is a Lews. Don’t love it don’t hate it. Thanks for watching!
It's way slower n harder to catch trout here but generally our trout would eat what your showing on camera but then maybe I'm spoilt here in Tasmania Australia
I’ve never tried dry flies with a spinning set up. I always use wet flys. I suppose you could, but having a dry fly next to a bobber might be kind of weird
Mountain lions have four toes and can retract their claws like your normal domesticated house cat. These show 5 toes and claws extended while walking. Look at the size of the prints. Also, it's below Hetch Hetchy, well-known for bears and rattlesnakes if not anything else. It's a black bear's prints.
Hell yeah we walked a long way! That was so far down and then going along river It looked good but I told you it was too fast. Hey man Im sorry I bailed on you and took off when we you showed me the bear tracks! I didnt think it was funny when you put that sandwich in your mouth and started calling Hey mr. bear...I got some sandwich for you right here! Man, You Crazy bro! So you finally caught a fish...You deserve it man.
I have two fly rods, and I use them but they aren’t UA-cam ready lol my fishing skills plummet to 10 year old level with a fly rod in my hands! Tangles and snags galore lol
they don't care about weight given a proper rigging. In.a river that swift, you almost certainly need weight. Double fly rig wont get down for like, 10 seconds into your drift, if ever.
Nice video! Don’t lift them in the net like that, can tear up their mouths. They aren’t build like bass where their jaws can support their entire body weight.
up at that elevation, rattle snakes exist, but limited. I haven't seen any poison oak around Yosemite or in the back country up there. He should be worried about the mountain lions and bears though.
More people are attacked. Buy black bears and any other beer on the planet, so you definitely need to keep your head on a swivel and make sure that you carry your bear spray forgot
Isn't the beauty of nature majestic? How could anyone see all of this and think it was created by anything other than billions of years of evolution and random chance?
Put your waiters on and quit you crying. It happens to all of us. We've all been there. Eat your lunch, eat your snickers bar, you're not being yourself slack, relax, just relax
@@DEADIKATED it varies quite a bit but a 6.5 foot medium light spinning combo with 6-8 pound test usually does the trick! Blue thunder bobby garlands are my favorite lure for catching just about anything!
My back yard. I love Yosemite. Its a blessing living close by
Love these videos! This guy is electric!
Fishing San Francisco's water supply!😁 Enjoying the content! Keep it up.

Those mossy granite rocks are amazing too.

I moved to California 13 years ago from Quebec Canada, for me California no matter what people say is paradise, that state has everything
The fist thing I thought about was Huell Howser he has a story & ya can’t forget that name of the area your in. But there’s been a few things in my life that wowed me & going through Yosemite was one of them it’s spectacular.

Soooo pretty!!!

Man that sounds incredible! I won’t be in that area for a while, but when I am that would be great!!

I didn’t not know that! Makes sense why the water was so unbelievably clear! Thanks for the info!
suscribed brother. for 3 reasons: awesome positive attitude, clear concise narration of the story and plan of the day, great video shots of the location and action!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
Nice to see your channel gaining traction. I remember when you started. Those were surely bear tracks.
I appreciate you following along! After looking into it, they were for sure bear tracks!
Great fishing again. Since you are in the Yosemite area, may try to fish Merced river and Lumsden bridge at South Fork Tuolumne. Tight lines.
Thanks for the tips!
I wish I discovered this when I was working in California last year. It was hard getting good information on trout fishing.
Where is this spot exactly where in yosemity
Man….. if you watch the video it tells you EXACTLY where I’m at!
It's too early in the air right now we had a chance of rain and snow, those Rivers Don't mellow out until summer time. Fishing doesn't get decent until usually early July
It was tough for sure! They are still biting! I bet later in the year would be fantastic!
13:56 beautiful
You should try the Merced river coming out of Yosemite. Try dinky creek, shaver lake, and wishon and courtright reservoir. Great places for nice trout
Thanks for the info!
@@theu.s.ofangling1344 Def check out Dinkey creek
you are in the middle of the run off from the high country lots of snow melt.
Have you fished the Sacramento or American River?
I have not. I hope to though!
What rod and reel are you using?
I only own Pflueger reels. I have used them forever and they are great for a cheap price. This rod is a Lews. Don’t love it don’t hate it. Thanks for watching!
It's way slower n harder to catch trout here but generally our trout would eat what your showing on camera but then maybe I'm spoilt here in Tasmania Australia
Man thanks for watching! I’d love to visit there! I was in Melbourne for 10 months but didn’t get to venture to Tasmania.. it’s on the list!
Badass!
Only artificials and barbless hooks, is a power egg considered artificial?
Anything scented is usually considered bait.
What pound test are you using?
I’ve got a 6lb Power Pro mainline, and a 3lb fluorocarbon leader connected with a double Uni
Copying the setup, just ordered some flies. Should I use dry or wet flies? What do you have to most success with?
Wet flies or nymphs is what he was using. Both were beadhead nymphs.
I’ve never tried dry flies with a spinning set up. I always use wet flys. I suppose you could, but having a dry fly next to a bobber might be kind of weird
Try fishing on camp 9 its the stanilslaus that goes into melones
What were the regulations on keeping fish?
I’m not 100% sure. California regs have been VERY confusing and all over the place and I would hate to post the wrong info.
Those are definitely MOUNTAIN LION TRACKS!! just be aware lol. I'd carry a side arm be safe! Love your content
Those paw tracks have claw marks, which would be either a dog or black bear. Mountain lions have retracted claws and don't leave claw marks.
@@markmailander3880 yup thought the same , looking at the width its more likely a large dog

Also, it's below Hetch Hetchy, well-known for bears and rattlesnakes if not anything else. It's a black bear's prints.
Isn't it illegal to carry in Yosemite? I remember reading it was illegal to carry in Mammoth
Mountain lion tracks do not usually show their claws. I think you saw a young bear track. I would definitely be carrying Bear spray.
I had it on me 👍🏻 wife’s orders lol
there are lots of trout but that water is running to fast .
The amount of water makes it more difficult for sure!
Make a video showing how you make the bread
I will for sure!
Go fish the Owen’s in bishop CA
Hetch Hetchy? Yeah Im down!

🤣 you’re wild bro!
Little bear tracks.
Bears cannot retract their claws, so they leave claw marks. 👍
you should get a fly line for more fun
@@mikebulger1725 I have a couple fly rods, just not quite UA-cam ready lol!
Def, black bear tracks. If a black bear attacks, fight back. Playing dead does not work. But mostly they will avoid you.
Full melt off season and some mountain lion tracks. Welcome to CA 😂
Those are bear tracks
You’re gonna need a weight . You can tell that river is roaring . Find slow pockets . You should try a wooly bugger bigger imitation.
That looks like bear tracks
Just get a fly rod already your 80% there lol. You’ll love it and already have much of the concept down.

You would have caught way more with a fly pole
they don't care about weight given a proper rigging. In.a river that swift, you almost certainly need weight. Double fly rig wont get down for like, 10 seconds into your drift, if ever.
The water is still too high.
It’s high, but not too high!
Nice video! Don’t lift them in the net like that, can tear up their mouths. They aren’t build like bass where their jaws can support their entire body weight.
I would be more worried about rattlesnakes and poison oak.
Incredibly enough, I have yet to stumble across a rattlesnake in all of my travels. TONS of snakes, but none with rattles. Surely I will eventually!
up at that elevation, rattle snakes exist, but limited. I haven't seen any poison oak around Yosemite or in the back country up there. He should be worried about the mountain lions and bears though.
