    Name a town or city that DOESN'T have a neighborhood like this now. It's everywhere. This is only the Cumberland downtown area. As in many other states, you can find beautiful locations within and deplorables ones as well. Thanks to the high cost of everything, homelessness, along with the high use of illegal substances and alcohol consumption, this is what you see now in every state. I lived in Cumberland for 13 years. It was a wonderful place to live, but it's suffering right along with many other small towns and cities.

      Plenty of towns and cities across the USA don't have any neighborhoods like what is seen here. I grew up in Ventura County in Southern California, in the town of Camarillo.
      Camarillo does not and has NEVER had any neighborhoods like what is seen in that video. Ditto for Grants Pass in Southern Oregon, where I bought a home in the eighties.
      I currently live in the Central California town of Porterville, and the same is true for it too. If you seriously believe that ALL towns and cities in the USA look like what is seen in this video, then you really need to take a trip across the USA.

    Cumberland definitely has some blighted areas. Poverty, lack of jobs, and a higher than average drug problem will do that. It’s sad to see abandoned homes left to rot and rental properties with negligent and absentee landlords. Even if folks mowed and cleaned up after themselves it would make a difference!
    There are beautiful areas of Cumberland as well. Check out west side (Washington street) and downtown (once construction is done). There are dozens of examples of beautiful Queen Anne architecture and American foursquares. A few Italianate revival and sears catalog homes as well.

      I agree.I live in Cumberland on Washington st by the court house.originally from the Wasington D.C metro area.i honesty think it's like paradise here,the people are friendly,the town is old buy looked at philly,baltimore,D.C ect....any major city on the east coast has parts that look wayyy worse then Cumberland.The crime rate is like 0%. When I say 0% I meen no murder,stabbings or random gang shootings,i dont think petty thefts count as crime in a major city lol.if Baltimore had the same crime rate as Cumberland it would be rated the safest city in America if not the world.Lack of jobs yeah I can see why some could complain but then again you can own a 3-4br house for under or just around 100k, with a 30y mortgage 350$ a month,you can get a job at the dollar store and pay your morwith money left over.i was paying 2,300 a month for a old apartment in a drug infested naborhood with random shooting that happen VERY often.Cumberland is only bad to people that grew up with a silver spoon,yes UT looks like the ghetto in many areas but that's just appearance,when I walk at night I don't worred about getting murderd because i was accidentally wearing rival gang colors.

      Gotta agree with you, downtown is very historic and nice to see. But the areas of the city that ARE bad/poor definitely look it, and that’s what I document.

    .My first apartment was in the blue building on the first floor. The one nearest to the end. The neighborhood was nice then. There was a store a couple of steps away from my back door. There was also a quiet neighborhood bar.

    To be fair, I recently lost a car in a hit-and-run incident less than a year after moving to this area. That was the second time it happened.
    I previously lived in Leonardtown, Maryland, and that was the first time it happened.
    Both of them somehow managed to get away.
    Not sure if this is relevant, but both locations were/are right next door to a bar.
    EDIT:
    And I just heard police sirens passing by my house as I was typing this

    • @BRAYXOTIC
      @BRAYXOTIC  5 днів тому

      Cumberland is about 90% white. As a white dude, I can’t really speak on if it’s safe for blacks to reside bc I really wouldn’t know. But historically, we know the reality of what blacks experience in certain areas, and Cumberland is in Appalachia, and Appalachia is known to be a little iffy lol. I wouldn’t be surprised about a sundown town past in Cumberland either. But I’m not 100% sure. Definitely do your own research
