From what I can tell, it seems a lot of Derren’s suggestion is surrounded around inducing “flow state”. Getting his subject into a state of mind where their perceived skill matches the perceived level of difficulty. I know nothing of what Derren does on a professional level, but from the outside looking in, this is the best description I can come up with.
i tried to learn the violin when i was very young. There was a song we had to learn. Very basic, i really tried learning it, but i could not properly play it. when asked out of the blue to play it in front of the class, i played it. not brilliantly, but it felt like my fingers just knew what to do. i was almost observing myself doing it.
This episode made me cry.

So if a person only speaks one language, English per say, Then just 20 min. With Mr. Brown, he could be having them speak Chinese!! Same concept it seems!

So she had been playing all her life, she just forgot and Darren made her forget it more but on a show night, it just all comes naturally... doesnt really seem interesting nor any big feat. She obviously knew how to play piano. This was a big disappointment video.

This is fake staged. People while supposedly hypnotized are never directly asked are you hypnotized, what is preventing you from not following what I am telling you to do, what is going on in your mind while you are standing upright on stage with your eyes closed and head down? Nor is any random person permitted to confront the person, shake them tickle them yell at them, really scrutinize them.
