  • Join me as I take a wildlife walk at RSPB Strumpshaw fen in Norfolk. I am mainly looking for common lizards but as I search for them I take a tour of the reserve and discover some of the other British wildlife and nature that has set up home there.
British wildlife and UK wildlife can be found all across Norfolk, especially at wildlife reserves such as the RSPB. The nature of these places includes amazing birds such as the Bearded tits, Great egrets, Kingfisher, Marsh harrier and Kestrel that were featured in this wildlife tour. Other wildlife can be found including several non native species of deer such as the Muntjac and the Chinese water deer that were featured in this video also. The UK has native reptiles and in this short wildlife documentary you will see one of the most numerous, the common or viviparous lizard.
If you have read all of this then thanks, and sorry for the mumbo-jumbo!

Great diversity! Sounds like a wonderful trip with the wildlife being out and about and the weather cooperation. Can't ask for better! God bless and safe travels on your next journey!

Even if this video is 2 years old it is still great. I discovered your channel maybe two months ago and yes I am enjoying your channel.

This is the most recent of your videos that I could find, so I hope you still read your comments. I am so glad I found your channel. 2 years ago my husband and I had to give up our Norfolk hols because my husband struggles to drive that far now. Sculthorpe, Cley and Titchwell were 3 of our favourite places, so watching your visits was bitter sweet. Have you been to the more remote hides of Holme Dunes, accessed from Holme village, down the lane past the caravan park. We were lucky enough to be a few feet away from a Bittern there. Thank you so much Jill.

Hi Jill. Yes, thankfully I still read comments on older videos and I do try to respond to them all eventually. Although this is a very punctual response!
I haven't been to the hide you mention at Holme (or at least I don't think I have) but I am going to the North Coast in the next few weeks so will try to include that in my visit if I have the time. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching my videos, I hope they can bring back good memories.

@@AShotOfWildlife thank you Liam for such a quick responce. I love the fact that if it lives and breaths you appreciate it. If you are in Coventry anytime(unlikely) visit our secret treasure- Longford Park. The Warwickshire Wildlife Trust got involved years ago now to make changes to the areas along the River Sowe that runs through the park. As a result we have a wetland walk which is great for birds and dragonflies. We have very vocal Green woodpeckers and flying peapods officially known as rose ringed parakeets. And then there is Brandon Marsh which is known for rareties dropping in. All the best Jill.

Here in Ireland we have common lizards but they go by many names like bog lizards and even bog dragons. They are most commonly found in bogs but they can also be found in sand dunes and mountainous areas

We do, there’s grass snakes on one of my other videos but I haven’t filmed adders yet. There’s also a third species of snake called a smooth snake but I haven’t filmed them yet either.

Great video mate. Good info on the Heron plumage maintenance.
As far as the deer sightings go, you reaped the benefit of an early start! Cracking view of the female kestrel in the golden light :-)
"Who am I to judge hairstyles?" Ha ha! Brilliant! Surprised there are as few as 630 breeding pairs of Beardies though. More often heard than seen though.
Keep up the good work mate. Hope you didn't doze off at work after the early morning wildlife watch! And yes, I did read to the bottom. No jumbo, but a bit of mumbo! 😆🤣😂

Hi Liam, I took a weeks holiday last year in Sandringham area to look for wildlife to photograph. This prompted me to search for more areas in Norfolk to visit. As I have been a subscriber to your channel for a while, I came across this video earlier in the year. I liked the diverse habitats that Strumpshaw offers, so I took a weeks holiday & visited every day. I love the area so much I am returning in 4 weeks time. Thanks for your vlogs, it helps loads for people like me to find habitats & species for wildlife photography.

These deer were just not expecting to meet an early human riser Liam! Tou have great eyes!
We seem to have lost a lot of our kestrels! Maybe it's something to do with changing farming practice or more intensive farming. I used to see kestrels hovering maybe once a week now it's rare to see them. Great capture of the kingfisher! Sadly we don't have any bearded tits at all. You were very fortunate to see them!!! Wow you got your lizards too! And a marsh harrier! What a morning! Well worth getting up for! Brilliant job!
