    The Smiths were extremely unique. There was no band like them and Marr is a fantastic guitarist. The lyrics are not the usual subjects you’d find in pop music. With just a short life of 5 years, 4 albums and a million compilations, they will be remembered in 100 years time unlike most bands of that era. It’s a pity they split because they had lots more great music left in them. I hope they never reunite simply because their musical and artistic legend is mightier than a cash-in hits tour. It’s like getting back with an ex partner, as soon as you get back you realise why you split!

Now that Morrissey is confined to a wheelchair (a goof on his latest video) it would be good for the mates to bury the hatchet and have a proper album and tour. ‘Nough said. Thank you.

      Sounds more like he just relaxed with already-established acts, past their prime. I mean good for him if he enjoyed it, but it's not like when the average person thinks of the Pretenders, they're thinking of a song that came out after The Smiths broke up. Same with Talking Heads. No doubt he's an amazing musician, and still can play, but let's be honest here. All of his memorable music was made with The Smiths. No use in denying it. He's a great guitarist, so he was able to survive after the break-up of one of the most iconic British bands. But "surviving" isn't the same as flourishing. Now he and Morrissey are getting too old for a reunion to even make sense. They've both totally gone their own ways, and it would be too contrived. I think Morrissey has done much better than Marr post-Smiths. There are a number of his songs that are easy to remember and sing in the shower. We're just left with recordings of Smiths songs. Thank God they were together as long as they were, and as prolific as they were.

    • @darrenherbert876
      @darrenherbert876 6 років тому +1

      It will never happen ever. Morrissey is still bitter with Joyce over that 1996 court case. Can you imagine being bitter with someone for 22 years. I wouldnt have the energy.Also i think they fear getting back together. What if their not as good the legacy will be destroyed.

    • @morenteria2988

      Darren Herbert - I would still take my chances just to see them all four together on stage. I had the privilege to meet both Joyce and Rourke at a Smiths convention in Pasadena CA I believe in 1997, awesome pair. My wife won one of the raffle to have dinner with them. Something that will never happen to me again! Joyce was really down to earth. Andy of course shy. I'm sure Morrissey and Marr are cool as well. At the end of the day, their just flesh and bone.

    Morrissey post Smiths success says alot about who the main person of The Smiths was. I loved them growing up but I think that intense pop creativity burnt out when it was supposed to. I dont find Marr that humble to be frank.

    I dunno, post-Smiths Marr at his best still doesn't hold a musical candle to anything he recorded with The Smiths. Whereas Morrissey at his best is still as good as he was with The Smiths. I'd love to see them work together again, but for me the evidence suggests Marr needs it a lot more than Morrissey. To be honest I think a lot of Marr's solo stuff is pretty awful.

    Johnny sounds out of his depth: a product of the past; he does not make one comment that makes an actual point.; does not really relate to the question (s) asked . This makes him look like a man being asked to downplay the accomplishments of the smiths (video's title alludes to this) ; and then he struggling to do so - they're better than his later accomplishments. Post Smiths he hasn't really achieved much. (The post-Smiths Morressey has certainly done better.) Although this Video may be taken out of context: why do people keep up-thumping it ; its empty of content ; plus, it's possible to like: the Smiths / Marr / Manchester - and still recognise that this video is empty headed shite. Why do people like this?
