Lego is great as a therapy tool (I think Adam Savage, a brilliant engineer, sort of said that too). Since I gave up alcohol, I've found that when I get really fed up with life, instead of spending my grocery budget on getting drunk and then having to go to soup kitchens to survive, I buy a small set of Lego with the money I have left after buying the weeks food and switch off from the world for a while and build the Lego set. It gives my head the downtime It needs to reset.
I actually got back into LEGO from your channel. My grandfather fought in World War 2 also. He carried it with him to the end of his days. He passed away on his birthday at 100 years of age. He introduced me to LEGO with the LEGO carravelle jet set 😁👍

You cannot be expected to make videos for kids, given the COPPA situation. Apart from that, I wouldn't necessarily want a UA-camr to teach my children anything moral ...not that I have children, mind you, but I don't need any to know that imparting my values and beliefs would be MY job, and not that of some UA-camr (who may say/do anything they want, whenever they want). As far as your money goes, you earned it; do what you want. It's not up to your watchers to tell you how you should manage and spend it. Aside from that, Lego is NOT a low-income hobby. It's fair to presume anyone heavily invested in the product isn't living in poverty (same applies to those who golf, have yachts, etc).
