The Munsters - Grandpa's Love Potion (in COLOR) - POP-COLORTURE.com

- This episode of The Munsters, titled My Fair Munster, began as the show's unaired pilot, filmed in color. This scene however, was filmed in black and white to complete the episode that would eventually air. Using references from the color pilot and behind the scenes photos, POP COLORTURE has completely restored the color in this scene to appear as it would had it been filmed with the original pilot.
The Munsters: The Complete Series is available on DVD through Amazon: www.amazon.com...
Universal should hire you to colorize the entire series.
I agree. Fantastic picture quality.
I agree. I have been a Munsters fan all my life and to see the whole series get colorized would be freaking awesome.
SPOT ON! It looks like it actually was filmed in color! I'm no pushover, either --- I just recently retired from 27 years in the TV broadcast industry, so I can spot a "dye job" on black and white. I wish the studios were this meticulous. The success of any colorist is to have accurate color references (which I could tell you had from the color pilot). Wonderful! Best colorization job I truly have ever seen!
Thank you for the nice words. Like you said, I used the color pilot as a reference and tried to match the greenish film tone, too. I'm glad you like it and I will post more in the near future.
It also brings the show to life despite being filmed so long ago! I'd like to see Gilligan's Island season 1 clip in color even if it's just the intro which is in need of an update, the existing color version from 1986 looks really artificial from the backgrounds to Gilligan's hair color. Blessings!!
You deserve more credit for the hard work you put in. TV Land should hire you.
RIP Beverly Owens
VERY GOOD work!
WOW! Marylin may be the beautiful woman I have ever seen. Jesus!
Absolutely fantastic as always!
Wow Beverly Owen looks even more beautiful in color. What a real beauty. Pat Priest who was the second Marilyn was a knock out also. Something about that 1960’s beauty I tell you. Classy dames.
Definitely 👍
Indeed most of the initial success of The Monster was because Beverly.
Ted Cruz was an actor?!
The delegates, Dahnald...

Bitch
Hahahahahaha👍...you better believe it😄😄😄😄
Beverly was so beautiful and looked younger than 27.
When I was a little girl, I had the biggest crush on Beverley Owen. May she RIP 💔
Same here... but I was a little boy...
😁😁😁
I just love the relantion-ship between Marylin and Grandpa; She loves him deptie the fact that he's a vampire and he loves and acptes her in return despite for well-; you konw
This scene looks amazing and so vibrant in colour. Only the episode 'Family Portrait' has been given full colourisation as far as my research goes, but if this and other colour samples are anything to work with then I suspect a new full season DVD release would be the ultimate. The technology is there, this is living proof of it, and it's incredible work. We just need more of it done though, and I don't think I'd have too many disagreements with that.
Great Job!!! I grew up in the 60's and wanted everything in color..Having a B&W TV made it worse when almost everything else switched to color in 1966. Color every episode!! I LOVE IT!!!
WOW 😳
I think you should remaster all black and white TV shows into full color by bringing all of it back completely. 😊
Also, Remaster all Season One Episodes of The Wild Wild West from black and white into full color as a paid tribute to the late Mr. Robert Conrad and himself died from last year after he lost his battle with congestive heart failure was very sad 😢💔🙏🏼🕊️
Beverly Owen was beautiful, too bad she left after just 13 episodes.
Awesome to see the munsters in color!
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!!
Best wishes for everyone on 2021!!!
AWESOME SHOW.
Beautiful work! would you do this with an entire episode of The Munsters? many of us would be so thankful. But I know that must be very difficult... I'm just suggesting. Thanks for all the colored fragments of this show!
Thank you! I would love to do a full episode, but it does take a lot of time. I may condense an episode down to 10 minutes and try that. I am debating either "Autumn Croakus" or "Will Success Spoil Herman Munster?"
Definitely "Will Success Spoil Herman Munster?", that scene of Lily walking in the mansion with the candle would be amazing in color! Precisely I had thought beforehand how well that chapter would look in color. If you color that chapter I would be more than grateful because it is one of my favorites! It's fantastic what you do, thank you. The idea of making ten minutes is good, you can do the episode in parts...
The Munsters: The Abridged Series
@@PopColorture Autumn Croakus would be an interesting one to see in color
Best colorizing I have ever seen, Would LOVE to see a few seconds of the Honeymooners (now on Blu-Ray)
These are beautiful, keep it up. :)
Who got the oatmeal?..... WHO GOT THE OATMEAL!?!
The rest of the family, and it turned into a fiasco!
Herman and Lilly
James Affleck ....and Eddie
All the episodes of The Munsters should deserve to be shown complete and uncut whether they're in black and white or in color.
Beverly Owen is gorgeous. I always pictured her as a beauty queen. Much prettier than Pat Priest.
+John Feirer I greatly agree, for beverly was one of the hottest actresses in 60's television. she's definitely up there with elly may clampett and ginger grant.
John Feirer I prefer YVONNE DE CARLO as Lily Munster.
yes lee Merriweather was no where near as good in the munsters today
Pat Priest was much prettier than Beverly and looks much like Marilyn Monroe.
@@immyself8045 pat priest look better off the munsters on tvor movies
Looks great. I'd love to see all the episodes done this way.
I really am in awe of your detailed work. I remember so well the first colorization efforts of the 1980s. They were less than successful. I never thought it would be possible to colorize a black-and-white original so well. The effort involved must be incredible. How many hours/days does it take for you to colorize one-minute of footage (generally speaking)?
Thank you. It depends on how much action and how many shots are in the one minute, but this clip took me around a week. One of the most difficult actions to colorize is when a character spins or turns around, like you see Marilyn do near the :35 mark in this clip.
I hadn't thought of that possible problem. I can see that with any slight blurring of the image in faster movements it would be a challenge to keep the colors where they should be! I'm still in awe and I hope to see more of your work. Any companies inquiring about your work?
@@dmcvegan1963 the first movies to be colorized were done as few as one frame at a time but i doubt that's even necessary now
Literally the BEST colorization I have ever seen. It isn't just the fact that you give faces more than one color. Your CHOICES of colors are subtle and perfect as well. Keep it up! :)
How do you do it...Its amazing!!
I wish that actress had stuck around for the rest of the series. As she's not just hotter, but I think she's a better actress than her replacement.
I always thought Beverly Owen played Marilyn as "smarter" than Pat Priest. I know a lot of it has to do with the writing, and maybe with the change of actress they decided to go a different direction with the character.
Grandpa Dracula sure cares for his granddaughter Marilyn. a lot. He sure got surprised when he found out that Herman & Lily ate the love potion unintentionally after Marilyn was getting late for school and didn't have time to eat breakfast at home.
Grandpa had a longer nose in that episode.
Colorizing a Twilight Zone episode would kick-ass.
Ted Cruz brought me here
I just love your work! Would you colorize something by charlie chaplin? Or george melies?
Hello,
I discovered you a few months ago and, as of today, I finished watching every one of your videos. I'm interested in this process, as well, and I've done a few images. I have a lot of questions. Is there any way we can get in contact with each other?
When you can, turn phil into the frontiersman of the past, free from Kentucky bluegrass burrowing.
Best colorization ever. Hope it could be used for Charlie Chaplin or Marx bros movies for example.
Beverly Owen is one of the most beautifull woman that ever star in the TV or a Movie. Beautifull!!!
Beverly Owen looks even more beautiful in color than in black ⚫ and white ⬜‼️
Beautifull brown eyes!!!!! What a beauty!!!!! Love her!!!!!
It least they eventually got rid of that ridiculous nose piece they put on Al. Looked a long shlong on his face.
God bless her. x
I have all the series and the two films love watching them but I would have like the series to be in colour
I don't think Grandpa was green in the (color) pilot.
I would love to see you do a colorized scene of the Kansas scene in wizard of oz
Poor Tiger and Yo Yo. Never knew what hit them!
Good thing they shortened his nose afterwards
You should do Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. The whole movie.
She was a beautiful woman damn
Maryland Maryland Maryland hi hi
I really hope someone hires you to colourise a full episode
Ah..Colour...Colour...raptuous !. Please do the whole ZOMBO Episode will ya ?...
Stunning! would you kindly make a tutorial about how to colorize B&W footage? Thank you!
Great work, an idea-- the second season ending, if you want to colorized with out the credits on top, maybe try bringing in 24 frames per second into PHOTOSHOP and use the clone stamp around the images until the scene is free from the end credits, although it would be pain staking task besides the colorization of that, It might work. it also would be neat to see episode # 55 "Just another pretty face" with Fred Gwynne as himself in Grandpas lab with Kenneth strickfaden electrical equipment that was borrowed from The original Frankenstein's Lab electrical equipment.
She was a beauty!
The color feels so natural with the characters and aesthetic. Way to go!
Love potion #9
Mela heart heart
Awesome! I👍
Great.
they didn't show eddie getting chased like the Beatles by girls
This is incredible! About how long does it take to colorize this one minute clip?
Awsome job, kudos
I actually prefer the make-up in B/W
perfektní práce
This Lili Munster Joan Marshall (Phoebe Munster) was beautiful, but Yvonne De Carlo was for the roll.
This Eddie I don’t like it, the other Eddie is better.
Which Marilyn was that -- Beverly or Pat?
Beverley Owen
It's sad that Beverly departed from the show so early on, I mean she didn't even finish season 1. She did less then half a seasons worth of episodes and then she was gone!! I read that she didn't like doing the show and was getting married, the producer's made her wear a blonde wig, and the character's name Marilyn was intentional and was inspired by Marilyn Monroe!!
Did you like seeing Pat Priest in a bathing suit in 1 of the episodes from the 2nd season of The Munsters?
yes. wow. also w/ Elvis Presley
Beverly Owen played Marilyn then it was Pat Prest
ShannonQuinlan harry's
Beverley was beautiful, but that wig was terrible.
Coloured this seems so wrong... nothing like the original b/w
Wow he is blue wish put all series in volour
