Making puff pastry AND custard for the first time today so we definitely had some moments of panic LOL! I hope you guys enjoy & PLEASE try out this recipe because they are heavenly!!!! ✨🙏🏼😍
I'm portuguese and this makes me very proud, most people don't even know about Portugal. That is one of the most tradicional things in portuguese bakery and a really hard one to make and you did a really good job making them! The only thing I would say is that typically we put cynnamon on top not powder sugar. Loved the video!!
Although that is true, in Belém they give you both a cinnamon pack as well as a powdered sugar one. I grew up on mixing both, but definitely prefer with powdered sugar 🤤
I was literally over on Marcus's channel watching you & him on the bike (which is hilarious) and thought "Man I would love for Kristin to have a new video" and now here we are! :P
She’s literally sooooo gorgeous and kind! My sister and I have spent a lot of time baking together during quarantine and I’m going to try to convince her to make these. 💖✨ Keep shining Kristin! The world needs someone positive like you right now!
Every episode of “Kristin’s Kitchen” brings me so much joy and ALL the baking inspiration! Thank you for being a light during this time 💗 oh and girl, if Kristin Made releases kitchen and plant essentials, like aprons, tea towels and bowls and pots and such...omgosh! I’ll be one of your biggest fans. LOVE your aesthetic and good happy vibes! HUGS from Brooklyn 🌸🧡🌼
I’m from Portugal and it makes so happy to see you try out one of the most famous portuguese recipes. You have to come to Portugal, you will absolutely love its history and sunny days! Love watching your vids! You are a ray of sunshine! 💛
Ahhhh I’ve been wanting to make these for years! Kristin you can read ma’ thoughts 💭😍 I hope I don’t sound like a know-it-all but I’ve made puff pastry multiple times and one thing that’s really helped me to handle the soft dough with the butter layers is that I place in the fridge for 15 min in between every folding process. This way the butter will solidify a little more and working with the dough is easier+ the layers in the final product are crispier. Maybe that’s helpful too you as well🤷🏽♀️ Also British baking shows are life😇
Kristin you are literally goals. The outfits. The makeup. The baking. The home decor. Everything. Your kids are going to be so lucky to have such a cozy mom 💕
A tip I learned on great British baking show for laminating the dough is to shred your butter and let it soften! It makes it very easy to spread out without ripping your dough! ☺️💛
I love that you tried to make these for the first time on camera instead of trying them out and then showing us after you were a “pro”. It makes it way more real and relatable to us first time bakers!! You’re the best Kristin! 🥰
Your baking videos always make me think, how long did it take you to collect all of your amazing kitchen supplies?! You seriously have the cutest most perfect bowl, dish, utensil for everything I’m so jealous 😂
I’m Portuguese and I love that you made this they are soo good 😂😂 I never saw them with powder sugar sprinkled on top. And they look amazing Kristen honestly.
OMG Kristin! You filled my heart with joy with this video ❤️ I'm from Portugal, and from the comments I've seen, I can tell that you have many portuguese viewers. You made me very proud with this video 😍 Love you and hope you and Marcus visit this beautiful country soon 😊
I can FINALLY make these now! Jesus healed me from celiac disease, and trying to make these gluten free was just a mess. Praise the Lord for His goodness and unconditional love!
Love your videos and can’t wait to try it ! Handy Lil tip I’ve learned is to shake salt on your counter when you clean off flour mess ..it’s keeps the dough from goopin up and makes it easier to wash out rag etc 👍🏼❤️
I love how Kristin always gets Marcus to review her dish because she knows he’ll be honest and her reaction to him loving it, is always the best. Love the energy! Can’t wait for the next
So I absolutely love that you just go for it on a baking video 😂 I’d rather see this than an absolutely perfect video where you don’t second guess yourself or give us adorable commentary. You’re the best. 💜
Thank you for charing one of the great things that Portugal has 😊 we have much more wonderful pastries, cakes and also homemade food that i know you would love! 💕
These look lovely, Kristin! A huge game changer for me baking-wise has been getting a silicone pastry mat (goes on the counter, not the kind you use to line baking sheets that go in the oven). That way, all your flour is contained!
Omg i’m Portuguese and I grew up having Pastel de Nata all the time, we also put a bit of cinnamon on top!! They’re soooo good but now that I have moved to the UK i’m missing them, should give it a go with your recipe! Thanks Kristin 🥰 love you ❤️
Hey Kristin! Not sure if you’ll see this but I’m slowly making things that you’ve made on Kristin’s Kitchen and just made this one - so good! Love these videos of yours a lot.
Was literally hoping you'd post another Kristin's Kitchen recipe! These look AMAZING Kristin, you're really helping getting through quarantine - Love you!
I am portuguese. These look amazing. Great job. I have never done them because I think it's super complicated but you really challenged me :) It will be my next baking project. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your baking adventures with us Kristin! Also, I made custard *once* and found out the hard way that if you don't strain it, you get gross clumps of *egg* (very gross). After that I was kind of traumatized about making custard, haha, but this recipe looks so fun, I definitely want to give it a try!!
I’m so so happy you made pastel de nata Kristin! I made them a year-ish ago. My dough was all torn everywhere, revealing the butter layers to the open air, and I nearly burnt my apartment down. They came out tough 😅 But I trust you and you’ve explained everything so well here! I just might give it another go because they’re so delish
I went and watched the video that you tagged as your reference and I just want you to know that she definitely froze the dough. From the opinion of an avid baker, there is no possible way that her dough got that hard by just being in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. You didn’t do anything wrong. You followed the recipe and they looked really good. Hoping to try this soon! Love these videos! ❤️
Hi Kristin, portuguese here, I prefer my pastel de nata with cinnamon on top instead of powdered sugar. I think they turn out really great. Love your channel, lots of kisses to camper and honey =)
Okay so , I’ve got much to say. For starters i am half Portuguese and this is my second favorite Portuguese dessert (my first is bolas de Berlim you should try to make thoes) and i always though these were supper hard to make and I’m so happy i ran into your video because you had be dying the whole time. I did watch the video you reference first (and thank you so much for that!) and you did an amazing job. Also the little panics in between is such a mood, I genuinely feel like if you don’t panic just a little than are you even making them with love? And love goes a LONG way when it comes to desserts and food. I LOVED the end where your man tries it because i wanted to know if it was good and his reaction seemed supper sincere. GOOD JOB and KEEP IT UP. I just subscribed because of this vid!!!
Kristin!! ❤️ How brave of you to try to cook Pastéis de Nata! They are hard to cook, I've tried a few times and never turned out as good as the ones you eat a café. They are veeeeeeery delicious, especially with a cup of coffee 😊
Omg this is one of the best things I've ever made.. SO GOOD. Although it took about 30 mins to bake and I left it for about 5 mins more to get the top slightly burnt. *my oven was 250°c max. LOVE IT!
I am from Portugal 🇵🇹 and those look really good! If you ever come to Portugal you have to go try pastéis de Belém. Best pastel de nata in the whole while world. Trust me. You won’t be disappointed

Me: *feeling accomplished even though I did absolutely nothing but breathe*
Mad Max 😂
