"It was only in my shadow, that I'd finally found a friend" This hits so hard, not only because mono has always been alone but also because when he finally found a friend he was betrayed by her without even knowing why
I like how they had the characters different views of each other. For example, Mono says they are a deadly duet. While six just thinks of mono as someone to carry her along the way
I love how Mono isn’t portrayed as innocent in this rap. Like, it’s saying he too sees the world as a dark place and may even have dark intentions. But those intentions aren’t to betray his friends/the people who are like him.
I like how they changed "Every Nightmare has an end" to "Some Nightmares never end". Just the attention to detail in the Lyrics from JT is something I really like about their Songs.
I especially like how is changes from beware the dreamer’s lie, or you’ll be where the dreamer’s lie. It uses so many of the same lyrics, but just a few word changes completely redefines the meaning of the words that didn’t change. It’s absolutely brilliant.
not to be redundant or call anyone ignorant, but just for clarification's sake, the question: What's the dreamer's lie? and the very next lyric, in *quotes* to tell you it is the answer to the question: "Every nightmare has an end", meaning that the Dreamer's lie *is* the phrase or belief that every nightmare has an end.
1:05 "the darkness is honest, are you to yourself?" As Six wears her yellow raincoat, her "true color". (Remember yellow in color symbolism represent both friendship and betrayal)
@@azizsetyawan3038 Technically you are correct. Yellow represents positive ideals, like energy, friendship, and optimism, but it also represent negative emotions, like illness, betrayal, danger, and jealously. Meaning of colors don't usually come into play unless we were talking about clothing (since it's a major factor), and flowers.

@@whiskeredwolf4861 I honestly think when the tall man took her for the first time, he stole her body, and her soul either left the body or he killed the soul, that's why she feels so empty and she's so hungry. and at the end of little nightmares, she seems to take everyone's soul, to try to fill the void that was her own. @Vinold Ofoeze-Morrison Yeah, it would be interesting to see why the world is so messed up and hostile. But instead it's just "it's meant to be unclear" and suddenly you aren't to do any world building as long as the imagery is spooky.
@@BrenGamerYT Maybe they're planning on more comics, some sort of series, dlc, or maybe even a third game. The second game just came out so only time will tell
Six is such an amazingly written character without uttering a single word in 3 games. She cares for Mono sure, but she goes along with him for 2 reasons, because she feels she’s been tied to him and is being strung along, but also knows she has to in order to prolong her survival. Such a great dual purpose. She obviously feels some sort of sadness in dropping him because she hesitates. But she has to because she sees the tall man in him, and assumes saving him will doom her. It makes her seem so much more human, making a horrible mistake because her young mind is concerned for herself.
"Turned into a pasture of mesmerized sheep, I'd count them but why should I bother? In the end they're all meant to be slaughtered." Nothing hits harder than that line.
Mono speaks so affectionately of Six in this like: we’re a force to be reckoned with. While Six only sees him as a tool, something to help her along the way that she can discard but she’s also kind of bitter about it like: I’m a force to be reckoned with and It’s a tragedy.
Everyone missunderstands six imo. They seem to think its easier to make her a villain. But in this world everyone is more of a grayish neutral. I mean six isnt evil just because. She is a survivor, in the end she saw mono as a liability. I dont blame her she was scared of dying of mono dragging her down with him. Mono was also scared when the thin man snatched her up but no one seemed to blame him for betraying her back then. And i know he went back to save but still.
@@Chilly_billy278 it can mean different things, but the three common ones are either it's meant to be like a reference to the sixth deadly sin (gluttony), it's the sixth time the cycle has repeated hence her name is six, or shes named like that since she's gonna be the next/sixth Lady

"It was only in my shadow, that I’d finally found a friend" I feel like this has a duel meaning, Mono meeting Six in the shadows, and Six seeing Shadow Six as her only friend, that she can only trust herself.

“And the devil took my hand” I don’t know if she means Mono or Shadow Six because Mono always took her hand but she also met shadow six and it might mean the she’s saying that shadow six is the devil
@@weirdmugmanface7867 Mono (his childhood form, who was taking her hand throughout the game) isn't evil to her. Besides, the bonus scene with shadow six shows us a reunion of the duo. Also, if Mono is the one who took her hand, than in the song's text shadow six is her finally discovered true friend, which was lately taken away by him. That doesn't make any sense, since after abandoning Mono in the watchtower, she's again with her shadow amplua, preparing to visit the Maw.
"But once I'm in the clear, and free of all fear. I find that I'm hungry for more." Very nice, subtle reference to both little nightmares 1 and hungry for another one.
I think it's waaaay better and the first one was top tier already. I think the dynamic of the 2 voices are what makes it so special. Also the way chorus drops, holy shit.
Honestly i always looked at it the other way around: Mono: "When the devil grabbed my hand" it honestly makes more sense to me. Same with "finally thought you got to know me, but you've only met the mask" because ofc he is the one wearing a mask.
Six is an excellent portrayal of a morally grey character and it honestly didn’t surprise me when she dropped Mono. In Six’s viewpoint anything that threatens her chance of survival, is immediately a dangerous risk. We can even see how during the game Six was pretty reluctant to go along with Mono in the first place, plus they really didn’t know each other that long to be honest.
i get that 100%, but i just wanted to mention how many times mono saved six after she was like taken n stuff (happened 2-3 times ?) and at the end she suddenly just lets him go 💀 i felt like that was just ultimate betrayal considering all mono did for her, but then again six never actually cared for mono so there’s that
I just noticed that in the lines "I stick to the shadows untrusting of light" I realize that Six is trusting her shadow self more than mono, as we see his powers controlling TVs to produce light, while her own power is a darkness
Well, duh, because that's the part of her soul and character as whole. You will be trusting only yourself and yourself alone. Mono is just a quite persistent no-name. He's nothing to her, so why would she trust him?
@@jeremiahnapier2516 She quite clearly did trust him though. Maybe not in the very beginning, but she holds his hand, lets him leave on his own for periods of time and most importantly, when she becomes a monster in the Tower she entrusts him with her music box at first and responds to his voice. @@jillreyerma7592 yes exactly, it genuinely surprises me how few people mention this. six wanted nothing to do with mono to begin with, but you can see as time goes on and he keeps saving her, she starts to trust him. getting to a point where she always reaches her arms out for him when shes in trouble, because shes learned to expect he will help her. that whole scene with her as a monster is such an obvious show of trust its almost sad, because even after he didnt help her when the thin man took her, she trusted him. im pretty sure him breaking her music box was just the last straw.

If anyone is still confused by the end, a popular theory is that 6 lost her soul after she became a monster and when she turned back to normal she still didn't have a soul and dropped Mono, and it is a time loop causing Mono to become the Thin man, it is also theorized that the time loop started because of the eye monster.
I like to believe that six felt betrayed by mono after he freed the thin man when she tried to warn him and when she saw mono's face at the end she saw a younger thin man. To hear a better explanation of this I suggest watching a video by Sagan Hawkes
@@HighBarReviews I've heard that theory before I'm not a fan of the whole face thing because the signal tower distorts people and it probably would've changed the way Mono's face looks
@@midnighttale3388 I mean, that could also be why she dropped him, the signal tower did it's thing and six was tricked into seeing something that wasn't real

I mean, while Six is undeniably the more fucked up of the two we have to remember that Mono has absolutely no qualms killing and maiming, specially if he has to defend himself; he is the one who shoots the shotgun at the Hunter, he kills dozens of Students, he breaks apart just as much Patients and he leds countless Viewers to their deaths. And not once does he screams in fear, he is always stoic and silent, who says he's not grinning under that paper bag of his. He's not a harmless mouse, maybe he isn't the insatiable rat that Six is but he's just as much of a little nightmare as her.

Interesting how Six sees mono as dangerous and more of a captor. She feels like she’s just been strung along on this journey and at the end, she thinks that it’ll just be easier without him. She chose to stay with him the entire time, but at the end decided to make her way without him, possibly growing concerned about the static stuff and the possibility that he might become the thin man. She clearly cared about him, but also never saw them as friends. Mono however, thinks he’s helping six and follows her because he sees a chance to not be alone. He also cares deeply about her, and sees her as a companion, going out of his way to rescue her(which I believe was a combination of not wanting to be alone and caring about her). In the end she was made into a monster by the tower, so he was trying to save her. Both of them simply have different perspectives, and since they barely talk, they don’t get to truly understand one another. However that doesn’t mean Six dropping Mono was justified. You can understand her motivations, but it was still wrong and horrible thing to do to him. Édit: This is just my interpretation of the song, my thoughts on the game are in the replies
@Roman Francis Agreed. Pulling someone out of a delusion is incredibly difficult and they are often resentful for it. And you got Six and Mono spot on. Six prioritizes her survival above all else. She worked with Mono because it was mutually beneficial and likely cared about him as a companion. However, in the end she figured she’d be better off without him. On the other hand, you have Mono who views them as a unit rather than two individuals working together. He puts his life on the line several times to save her, both because he cares about her and also because he doesn’t want to be alone.
There was an article trying to justify Six dropping Mono because she saw his face and recognized it as the same face of the Thin Man. She ended up creating the monster she was desperately trying to avoid. Hence, she became a villain.
everyone's going off abt how six sees mono as a tool in the way andrea's parts are done, but also ignoring the lines "like a puppet, tied and hung up // tightly bound // your strings I've been strung to // I dream that I'd run away from you // if my feet could feel the ground" implying she sees him less as a tool to use, and more as a captor that keeps her with him because he's afraid of being alone, going as far as to consciously hurt her for what he thinks is best in the end

There are three things you can always expect from JT: clever lyrics, a stellar instrumental accompaniment, and chilling choruses. This masterpiece rolled a nat 20 on all three.
Dude wtf Andrea's (Six's) lines were cold asf! She went in hard. Really shows how Six viewed their situation as a means to an end rather than a true bond
"Like a puppet, tied and hung up~ TIghtly bound ~ Your strings I've been strung to, I dreamed that I ran away from you ~ If my feet could feel the ground" It's interesting if you consider that from Six's perspective, Mono broke her out of her safe haven and dragged her back into a world of nightmares to face them all at his side because he was afarid of being alone.
JT Music: "You hungry for another one?" Me: "Yes JT I never want these nightmares to end... they just need to make a 3rd game for you to make another song lol."
"I'd rather be lost and lonely cuz friends aren't meant to last, thought you finally got to know me but you've only met the mask" Oh damn that part gave me goosebumps towards the games ending!
How i see: The song is telling how is Mono's journey but in two perspectives, Mono describing his own journey and six describing how is being with him in the journey, but in the chorus (part of nightmares never end), Mono (that in this part is interpreted by Andrea Storm in the song) said that he was alone before he met Six and after he says to someone that remind him once again what is the dreamer's lie and in this part exist a third voice ( presumably Thin Man) that tells him that every nightmares has end.
Doesn't make sense, the thin man who SPOILERS Is mono after being betrayed by Six. The Thin Man would know that he's been stuck in this time loop due to six and thus would know that his nightmare would never end.
But, Mono in the part of "as she close my eyes" he is speaking with a third voice it isn't six bexause she is the person that mono is describing so the only one that i can see that is a good option is the thin man because Mono and thin man are connected.

So I feel like to many people focused on just mono and six in the comments, but look at the message of the game. I honestly have watched so many lore videos and it wasn’t until this song that the whole thing really spoke to me. All of little nightmares is the recipe for insanity, children in the world of little nightmares similar to these two are born into this horrible nightmare full of terrifying monsters blood and hunger. Six can’t except this nightmare and constantly tries to escape while mono seems to care less about escaping and just wanting to protect the only friend he could find. Loneliness. Nightmares. Betrayal from the only other thing we can call a friend or a home. This is very similar to us humans who tear ourselves apart. We are alone in a universe full of coldness and chaoticness. The world we live in this small rock is what I would even call nightmarish. All we have is each other much like our two protagonist but just like them we will constantly push another in the dirt for survival. What’s truly maddening and truly drives what I can only assume mono and six to pure insanity by now, is the realization that they are the true sources of there own nightmares.
0:56 “Pale is the prison they doomed me to dwell with room for just one, but two in the cell. The dusk is upon us, I knew as it fell; the darkness is honest are you to yourself?” Idk why, but I absolutely love this part.
I've listened to it specifically a few times, the way the singer delivers it is really good, and the cage falling in the visuals adds to it I think. Sort of an action-ey flair to that moment so to speak...
"It was only in my shadow that I finally found a friend Till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand" I feel like these lyrics have a lot of meanings. My interpretation is Mono found Six when she was 'in the darkness', or 'in her shadow'. She did think he was a sort of friend but didn't fully understand what he wanted. All he wanted was to be happy and not alone. This finally brings the meaning to his name. 'Mono' means 'one'. And in the game, the character named Mono is always destined to be betrayed and alone. Six eventually lost trust for him overtime. In the end, when she drops him, she took a second to think about if having a friend is even worth her time. While trapped in the several situations she was in, she finally remembered what it was like to be alone and preferred it over any 'friend'. The only companion she has is herself. She lost that initial spark and went insane from it. "Some nightmares never end" - The loop of the Thin Man will always continue. Mono will always be only one. Final thoughts: This is one of the darkest games I've ever seen, with one of the most depressing endings I've ever seen.
I thought Mono's name was a play on frequencies, "Mono" meaning, non-stereo, basicly, TV frequencies, which explains why he can traverse them and as the thin man, can teleport using them

"Thought you'd finally got to know me but you've only met the mask" A lot of people would assume this is about Six but I actually think it's about Mono because he wears a bag on his head and when it came off Six realized that he was the thin man
You can barely hear it but there is a second male voice singing that line so your theory definitely has some weight to it. I didn't think about it like that but it gives me a different perspective now so thanks 👍
Not really imo, SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING OF LN2. He was turned into the Thin Man due to Six's Actions. Maybe it'd work if Mono became him on purpose but its not so I don't think it works.
mono doesnt really turn into the thin man by choice. Six on the other hand just drops him into an abyss and betrays him after he was trying to help her. Mono may be wearing a mask literally but shes wearing one metaphorically
But the voice was female, and another line is "it was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend" The small form of Six is referred to as both a mask and a shadow by Six. Also, there are lines for Six talking about hiding in her hood. I think the "mask" is a metaphor for her small human form.
I’m always so mesmerized and floored by how awesome Andrea’s voice sounds. It’s like a unique, ancient power resides in her that unleashes itself in the form of her voice.
Outside the comics, I LOVE how they did so much storytelling and world building without a single word spoken or written. They really took classic writer's axiom "Show, don't tell" to the next level.
“I´did rather to be lost and lonely…cuz friends aren’t meant to last. Thought you finally got to know me…but you have only met the mask”. The people that made this rap…are legends
I love monos first set of lyrics in this so much especially this part "But once I'm in the clear and free of all fear i find that I'm hungry for more" it sorta implies he LIKES the danger
I get it: "It was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend...": Six hid behind Mono, followed him like a shadow and as dark as one. "...till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand.": The end, where Six had let go of Mono and she got occupied with evil instead of a friend. "As she closes my eyes, remind me once again.": Here comes Mono's part, "she" is Six, Six closed his eyes to a long nightmare. "What's the dreamer's lie 'Every nightmare has an end.'.": Mono's long nightmare will never end.

Love how Six says the line: “Dreamer’s lie.” and “ Every nightmare has an end.” It’s like Six tells her self that everything will be ok 1:44 just my favourite part don't mind me
its actually the oppostite six is saying that the dreamers lie is that every nightmare has an end essentially because mono grows up to be the thin man when six betrays him he is in an endless nightmare of getting betrayed and so is six if she keeps betraying him
You know, I'm surprised how many people don't realize how the time loop broke. The Thin Man hung himself. You can literally see his legs hanging from the ceiling and his chair near the beginning of the first Little Nightmares. Also: Six wakes up in LN in the same suitcase that Mono finds him at when Six is a monster. It's the same place, just Mono realized (I assume through the shadows) that he was repeating history and decided to end it.
1:58 Can we just appreciate how beautiful this scene is??? And Miss Andrea's voice just goes sooo well with the whole scene and is the perfect voice of an angel and a scary woman! Gg!!!!
I feel like this song accurately Pinpoints how sad and cruel the world of Little Nightmares is, especially with the line "Some Nightmares never end". It's all just a constant and endless cycle of pain and tragedy for all involved, especially Mono. Great work on the song, very much so worth the wait! 👍
And also this whole game represents that the little children, Mono and Six are the nightmares. Or I guess it's more like just Six because she's more horrendous than a nightmare.
"Under the guise of a child" This line makes me wonder if Six KNEW that Mono became the Thin Man. And if so, then does that mean she's in a never ending time loop of meeting Mono; leaving him behind and overtaking the Lady in the Maw?
That's on theory: Six leaves Mono right after she sees him clearly without his face-concealing bag for the first time. Is it because she recognises him, or sees something in him? I don't like the time loop theory myself. There's nothing in the game that really suggests it - it's just popular with fans. My preferred explanation is to see a parallel with the Lady, in that these 'roles' must exist even if the individual playing them changes. Six goes on to kill the Lady, driven by her hunger - and in doing so, fully absorbs the power needed to become the new Lady. In the same way that Mono, with his lesser form of the Thin Man's powers, is able to kill him - and in doing so, becomes destined to become the next Thin Man. The theme ties back to the title: Little Nightmares. What's little about them? It's not the world that's the nightmare: It's the protagonists. No sweet and innocent children, these. The only way to survive in a world of monsters is to become a monster.
@@vylbird8014 I know it takes a while to comment, but fans base it more on Mono's affinity for televisions and the way Thin Man chases him and kidnaps Six when he finally approaches (leaving only his monster form and preventing Mono from continuing). , unless it's that Thin Man kills Mono so that he can try to "end" the nightmare, I can't explain why he's chasing him if he's going to become like him later) why Mono could exactly fight the Thin Man using almost the same powers without his head bag? It's like he knows he's in a nightmare and knows how to handle it in the same way as the Thin Man (in a more lucid way he's not like Six who only obtained the Lady's powers when he ate her face and fed on the vitality of the other amorphous people) that when I defeated him, he used the same powers again that "arranged" the buildings around him. At the beginning of the adventure, when you navigate approaching the city, you see that the buildings also moved in the same way that Mono arranged them later, so it can be a loop, while Six's does get the title of The Lady after killing the previous lady (nightmares and monsters are different depending on the child, in addition the other bosses were also children who fell into another child's nightmare and monster according to the souls that are collected around the game)
@@vylbird8014 Furthermore, it is assumed that the game intentionally leaves these clues for fans to build the lore and the story behind (so the theories that are based on these clues are justifiable like the Stray Cat Game where it is a cyberg-punk of a dystopian city with some JunkPunk) Mono, The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat and Runaway kid are different children, that means different nightmares (Runaway Kid die in Six Nightmare, Yellow Raincoat Girl died in her own nightmare while helping Six escape in the begining and finally Mono ending being his own-self Thin Man in his Nightmare after had helped Six escape of his Nightmare )
@@vylbird8014 On the other hand, we have the only ones who have a name: it gives more clues about what their nightmares or fears were: Six is due to the fear of number six which had to do with being the sixth Lady, Mono has to do with fear of monochromatics (Despite having an affinity with televisions, he is afraid of the monochrome they project, which means that Mono wanted to overcome this fear to save Six and it also has to do with the fear of Thin Man, who was also black and white in his design )
0:49 OH THIS IS SO CLEVER- idk if its intentional or not, but lines "pretend you're a mouse in a house full of cats" is a bit before the lines "pale is the prison they doomed me to dwell with room for just one but two in a cell", and rodents have a tendency to kill each other when put in small enclosures or stressful scenarios, even if they aren't hungry.
It is so hard to pick a favorite line since the whole song itself is nothing short of an epic, a glorious poetry and a thought-provoking Ballad of profound words, and this is as short as I could possibly make the list: - "If it isn't knives, it's eyes in your back" - "Pale is the prison they doomеd me to dwell" - "The dusk is upon us, I knew as it fell . That darkness is honest, are you to yourself?" - "So often my reveries are littered with the debris of my hopes and dreams" - "As we all grow to be old and bitter, a tale foretold in broken screens" - "Mannequin paired with marionette In dissonant discord, our deadly duet We're lost in a lullaby, slumbering away Where sins remain hidden, but rarely they stay." - "It was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend." - "'Till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand" - "A knife or a noose is with what you'll be met If you try to play nice and stick out your neck." - "I thrive in the shadows, untrusting of light" - "I'd rather be lost and lonely 'Cause friends aren't meant to last." - "Thought you finally got to know me But you've only met the mask." - "Turned into a pasture of mesmerized sheep I'd count them, but why should I bother In the end they're all meant to be slaughtered." All of these could easily be fit into a medieval poem and spoken on stage without anyone questioning their origins, unknowing that these insightful lines came from a fan song about a depressing platforming game that tells the tale of two children fighting a world of monsters that they too, will soon become.

So often my reveries are littered with the debris of my hopes and dreams
As we all grow to be old and bitter, a tale foretold in broken screens

I hide in my hood, not to show you my eyes
I know that I'll fail with no coattail to ride

To the signal that beckons, familiar it seems
Be silent, you might see yourself in its beams
A knife or a noose is with what you'll be met

Gotta find a way to get that dopamine hit, it seems
I mean, while Six is undeniably the more fucked up of the two we have to remember that Mono has absolutely no qualms killing and maiming, specially if he has to defend himself; he is the one who shoots the shotgun at the Hunter, he kills dozens of Students, he breaks apart just as much Patients and he leds countless Viewers to their deaths. And not once does he screams in fear, he is always stoic and silent, who says he's not grinning under that paper bag of his.
He's not a harmless mouse, maybe he isn't the insatiable rat that Six is but he's just as much of a little nightmare as her.
@@hasturthekinginyellow5003 dude, i wish more people would acknowledge this. so many people portray mono as an innocent little baby and like...i get it. hes a sweet little boy thats shy and likes to put things on his head, hes fuckin' adorable. but its kind of a disservice to his character to not mention how _insanely_ powerful he is, and that he is just as conditioned and disconnected to the horror around him as the rest of the children are. both he and six are scary as shit when they want to be, she just got to it a lot quicker than he did. theres a reason hes the thin man, after all.

@Roman Francis That’s very interesting, thank you for sharing!
@Roman Francis You’re good, don’t worry about it
There was an article trying to justify Six dropping Mono because she saw his face and recognized it as the same face of the Thin Man. She ended up creating the monster she was desperately trying to avoid. Hence, she became a villain.

“Remind me once again whats The dreemers lie? “Every nightmare has an end”
-That hit hard-
How i see:
The song is telling how is Mono's journey but in two perspectives, Mono describing his own journey and six describing how is being with him in the journey, but in the chorus (part of nightmares never end), Mono (that in this part is interpreted by Andrea Storm in the song) said that he was alone before he met Six and after he says to someone that remind him once again what is the dreamer's lie and in this part exist a third voice ( presumably Thin Man) that tells him that every nightmares has end.
Doesn't make sense, the thin man who
SPOILERS
Is mono after being betrayed by Six.

I love the duet style this takes. Her voice is awesome, and they compliment eachother in a great way.
And they’re not much talking about the awesome song! One of my favorites from JT!

that goddamn time loop...
@g00gleHIdes comments The Native Canadian falsely accused of murder, or the Reptoid conspiracy guy?
thus the line 'some nightmares never end'
"It was only in my shadow that I finally found a friend
Till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand"
I feel like these lyrics have a lot of meanings.
🙁
I thought Mono's name was a play on frequencies, "Mono" meaning, non-stereo, basicly, TV frequencies, which explains why he can traverse them and as the thin man, can teleport using them

I dream that I'd run away from you
If my feet could feel the ground
Now I'm out of the woods
Safe and sound as I board up the door
But once I'm in the clear, and free of all fear
I find that I'm hungry for more

That darkness is honest
Are you to yourself?
My thoughts are distorted
And body dysmorphed
Into monstrous forms
Of the awfullest sort
We're locked up with dolls
And their hollowed out corpses
All haunted by hunger
The omniscient force
So often my reveries are littered
With the debris of my hopes and dreams
As we all grow to be old and bitter
A tail foretold in broken screens
How blinding the glare
Your mind is so weak

Not to show you my eyes
I know that I'll fail
With no coattail to ride

With marionette
In dissonant discord
Our deadly duet
We're lost in a lullaby
Slumbering away
Where sins remain hidden
But rarely they stay
It was only in my shadow
That I'd finally found a friend
To the light that bound us let go
And the devil took my hand
As she closed my eyes
Remind me once again
What's the dreamer's lie?
Every nightmare has an end
Beware the dreamer's lie
Every nightmare has an end
Or you'll be where the dreamers lie
Some nightmares never end
I sleep like the dead
Notheless I am lucid
If dreams have a meaning
Perhaps I should tune in
To the signal that beckons
Familiar it seams
Be silent, you might see
Yourself in its beams
A knife or a noose
Is with what you'll be met
If you try to play nice
And stick out your neck
I thrive in the shadows
Untrusting of light
Be warned if you join me
It's just for a bite
I'd rather be lost and lonely
Cuz friends aren't meant to last

I'd count them but why should I bother

You can barely hear it but there is a second male voice singing that line so your theory definitely has some weight to it. I didn't think about it like that but it gives me a different perspective now so thanks 👍
Ayp i never thought about it that way
Not really imo, SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING OF LN2.

"It was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend...": Six hid behind Mono, followed him like a shadow and as dark as one.

"Under the guise of a child"
This line makes me wonder if Six KNEW that Mono became the Thin Man.
"with room for just one but two in a cell" I don't know why i like that line so much
As someone who's looked at both games and taken both Six's and Mono's PoV's into consideration. I realize how truly tragic LN2 is
😂🤣😅wayyy to understandable
0:49 OH THIS IS SO CLEVER- idk if its intentional or not, but lines "pretend you're a mouse in a house full of cats" is a bit before the lines "pale is the prison they doomed me to dwell with room for just one but two in a cell", and rodents have a tendency to kill each other when put in small enclosures or stressful scenarios, even if they aren't hungry.
It is so hard to pick a favorite line since the whole song itself is nothing short of an epic, a glorious poetry and a thought-provoking Ballad of profound words, and this is as short as I could possibly make the list:
- "If it isn't knives, it's eyes in your back"
- "Pale is the prison they doomеd me to dwell"
- "The dusk is upon us, I knew as it fell
. That darkness is honest, are you to yourself?"
- "So often my reveries are littered with the debris of my hopes and dreams"
- "As we all grow to be old and bitter, a tale foretold in broken screens"
- "Mannequin paired with marionette
In dissonant discord, our deadly duet We're lost in a lullaby, slumbering away Where sins remain hidden, but rarely they stay."
- "It was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend."
- "'Till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand"
- "A knife or a noose is with what you'll be met
If you try to play nice and stick out your neck."
- "I thrive in the shadows, untrusting of light"
- "I'd rather be lost and lonely
'Cause friends aren't meant to last."
- "Thought you finally got to know me
But you've only met the mask."
- "Turned into a pasture of mesmerized sheep I'd count them, but why should I bother In the end they're all meant to be slaughtered."
All of these could easily be fit into a medieval poem and spoken on stage without anyone questioning their origins, unknowing that these insightful lines came from a fan song about a depressing platforming game that tells the tale of two children fighting a world of monsters that they too, will soon become.
