Geoff's tonal quality- throughout his entire range, which is nearly 5 octaves- is a large part of what I love most about his music. Richness is an apt description, I think. I've also heard it called very round, which makes sense in my visual-artist-brain; I've heard other basses who sound breathier or flatter (as in 2 dimensional) not filled with the depth a strong chest note should contain in their lower ranges. It's the same in his upper range; he maintains a remarkable fullness of tone all the way up the scale. Aside from his ridiculous vocal abilities, he also does his own arrangements as well as probably about half of VoicePlay's (the a cappella group he's been with since its founding in 1997), and I have a lot of admiration for the creativity displayed in those arrangements.

He's a bassy baritone, which is why he is so good at singing both high and low notes.
If he was a true bass, he just wouldn't be able to sing high notes as cleanly as he does, and his low notes wouldn't need a mic or effects to be resonant.

The fullness of tone Geoff has on his lowest notes is why I enjoy his songs so much. Also, pretty sure he's a Tolkien nerd too, lol. That last verse is not from "The Hobbit" it's from The Fellowship of the Ring. Great reaction!

Huge fan of Geoff and VP. In addition to the other suggestions, you may want to listen to VoicePlay's newest release dropped yesterday. it's a cover of "If I were a rich man" from Fiddler on the Roof" - about as far from dragons and hobbits as you can get.... but Geoff sings lead and has a jaw dropping riff at the end. From my POV, the song is just so much fun - no idea if it will be to your taste, but it's really a romp with an infectious beat. Way more fun than the original. And - Geoff. (Side note: Layne arranged the new one, and can't resist grinning at Geoff's ending. He's known for pushing Geoff to go further than Geoff thinks he can go...I'm guess that riff was one of those times.)

Oh my goddess!! I just discovered the version/video of this tune by Peter Hollens (featuring Tim Foust, the bass voice of Home Free) just 2 days ago and downloaded it 3x within the hour. Now this is going right next to it for a back to back loop. Actually, both versions of this song/video would make a great frame to wrap around My Mother Told Me by VoicePlay. There's two more songs, or rather performances, to react to. While Misty Mountains gives me visions of foggy wood and homage to the old gods, the other is more war/conquering song.

    Molly
Like others stated here, Geoff has vocal range 4 to 5 Octaves. In this video, he plays characters from Tolkien's The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey. There is a clip from Tolkien's man, Peter Jackson. As you know, he filmed Hobbit's series after completed Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Scene is Bilbo Baggins near a meeting of Gandalf and Thorin plus others singing this song.
Geoff stated that low notes were from using chest. He can hit lower notes into subharmonics level such as E1. Prime example: with his mates, Voiceplay doing Oogie Boogie Man from Nightmare before Christmas. Geoff portrays Oogie Boogie Man.
