My fold 4 crease is almost non-existent. But I do leave it open 99% of the time when at home. I only fold it on the go in pocket. In my vehicle it's also unfolded in the cradle as a display and music player for my older 2005 Blazer. I'm not worried about the crease at all really and dont even see it enough to bother me anymore really. It's all about the front screen size for me. Everything else I really like, as my fold 4 is now around 2yrs old.

that is the problem with lack of competition. Though we have other major brands from china, they are predominately only available in asian market and a few european market and they mostly target the low to midrange department. The High end market is still dominated by apple and Samsung especially in the US whrerein it has the biggest purchasing power in the high end segment.
All i know is im going to trade my one plus open in for the one plus open 2 cause they will literally make the perfect foldable. No crease wireless charging and camera improvements.

The only reason I care about the crease is bc I'm an avid S pen user. Things have been fine with the crease until about a month ago (i bought the device last August). Now parts of the crease and small area around it are unresponsive unless I press down harder with my pen in those areas. It's probably the screen protector starting to bubble around the crease. I'm afraid of damaging the screen or screen protector eventually by having to press down harder. So I wish Samsung would put more effort into reducing the crease.
Last year, the flip dummy had a white cover around the screen. The actual flip 5 ended up being a full black glass. Samsung probably just used cheaper parts. Its a dummy unit.
@@Maxx134a That's true, but they may rework the hinge so the crease is less visible. I think this is still the same V hinge and they managed to make close flat. I don't expect a drastic difference, but I think it will be better than the Z5.
I've had the z fold 3 and 4. Crease didn't bother me at all. The way the devices broke down did. Won't ever buy one again. Both units I had didn't last a year and they were backup work devices and were cared for. Just plain defective products based on my isolated experience. But never again.
Everything has went up in prices so whats the big deal food bills etc... dont buy it if you cant afford it and we don't care about a crease anyway 😅 it is a folding phone 🤦🏾♂️

Ha, same old hinge designed, no matter what dummy screen will = same narrow crease(!), which also = same longevity issues after 1yr. That's because Samsung haven't completed the reverse engineering of the Huawei fold phone before Fold 7. The fact is that all Chinese are ahead in hardware technology because they make their own chip technology. Samsung does not have access to these superior miniaturized parts. Samsung currently reverse engineering the Huawei fold but It is doubtful as we talking about 2yrs of hardware advancement. Samsung excuse is IP water rating, but that does not directly have anything to do with a screen crease, (look at Vivo X Fold no crease & IP8 rating)... So it's a Samsung generated propaganda excuse. Also, most Chinese manufacturers do not want to pay extra, for a third party to give an "IP" rating, which is all it is. They all have some water resistant regardless.
Its so frustrating because it didnt have to be this way for Samsung. Maybe production was too far along for the Fold 6 or something and taking a year off to go back to the drawing board would likely lose them more market share, but i think if they came back with a strong product, they could win back the public favor in a couple years.

There's no way that the dummy units are using folding glass screens, only a basic plastic to represent the screen, so the actual screen is likely to be better than these images. As we get closer to launch, I find myself less and less enthusiastic about the Fold 6 based on these leaks.

I still have ZF 4. Crease isn't much of a deal breaker for me. I want the cover screen bigger. I want two Ultras together so when folded, you feel like you are holding a OnePlus folding device. If ZF 6 won't produce that, I will wait for ZF7....

I owned one my self and its just the matel plates and the damper as whell as the hinge that are from the original device the rest is just plastik and metal. There would be no reason to make it from the real materials But on the showcase dummys (i had fold 4 dummy) the crease is pretty accurate but i do not have a case dummy to say if its different there or not
I always enjoy your videos. Great job as always. I have been toying with the idea of testing the waterproofing on my OnePlus Open. I'm going to buy a more inexpensive phone and record my OnePlus Open in a sink of water for 30 minutes. If it survives then I will take it to the swimming pool, the 6 foot deep part, and leave it there for 30 minutes. I am genuinely curious to see if it really is waterproof. I will deal with the less expensive phone until I get home next year, when I can grab the OnePlus Open 2. I'll post back on this channel after the results. I saw a dummy unit from a different source that had a very reduced crease, so my takeaway is that you really can't take rumors without a pinch of salt. We'll know what's going on in a few weeks. Whether I trade in my Fold 4 for a 6 depends on what we see at the actual launch, and what deals exist on Black Friday - both of which are things we can *speculate* on now to get a *pretty good* idea of what'll happen, but it's too early for anyone to be making a hard and fast decision of they will or won't get the 6.

I really wouldn't take much stock in the crease of the initial pictures. My fold 5 crease looked fairly minimal and got slightly deeper over time. I dont expect this time to be any different
I'm not using photos of a dummy unit to predict what the crease will look like on the Fold 6. I'm more using it as a visual aid for what I think the crease is going to look like. It should look very similar to the Fold 5 though.

I waited till the z fold 5 because I was going to upgrade and when it was still the same size as the fold 2 with little innovation I decided enough was enough and got the X Fold 2. I haven't looked back since.

Samsung is extremely lucky or has deliberately paid most of the major carriers to keep Chinese OEMs off of their towers. If Verizon opened the floodgates for all of the other Chinese OEMs I would never buy Samsung again. I'm just glad one plus seems to work decently well on Verizon. Sadly you have to go to T-Mobile or the other carriers that use T-Mobile towers if you want to use Chinese phones

They are right when they say creases, because the Fold's crease is shaped like a wave in fact that's what the crease is and every folding phone has one. A crease and a bend are different because a crease is formed when the screen is longer than an outstretched canvas where it suppose to fit and it forms a wave pattern where it was folded and a trick is to make the screen shorter but not like Google who made theirs too short.
With the advent of AI on and off device globally completion on things like foldables, with relatively few manufacturers in the game, will decrease as China bans western devices with AI and the west doing the same - so innovation & competition will be limited even more so than now.
Second 'creases' example is grammatically OK, if he's referring to multiple phones! They're dummy phones so some have creases and some don't. The more creases I see, the more I like a dual screen design.

Owning a phone is very difficult from speculation. This is why many reviewers themselves, keep coming back to a pixel Fold, or have it in their rotation. Doesn't happen with any Samsung, especially when reviewers have so many units.

Crease is fine. But man, this crease on Fold 6 versus the Fold 5 is not straight, which makes it annoying to look at. It seems like a step back TBH.

@@scaryifliteral I understand but living in Europe and America we feel obliged to buy only western brands like Samsung, Apple, one plus or Google but people need to know there's so much more choice in the world and if a company isn't innovating like Samsung isn't then try something else. I had the z fold 2 when it was released and it was great but too narrow. I waited till the z fold 5 because I was going to upgrade and when it was still the same size as the fold 2 with little innovation I decided enough was enough and got the X Fold 2. I haven't looked back since.

Samsung is extremely lucky or has deliberately paid most of the major carriers to keep Chinese OEMs off of their towers. If Verizon opened the floodgates for all of the other Chinese OEMs I would never buy Samsung again. I'm just glad one plus seems to work decently well on Verizon. Sadly you have to go to T-Mobile or the other carriers that use T-Mobile towers if you want to use Chinese phones
There are lots of reasons Chinese OEMs have no foothold here. Samsung certainly benefits.

They are right when they say creases, because the Fold's crease is shaped like a wave in fact that's what the crease is and every folding phone has one. A crease and a bend are different because a crease is formed when the screen is longer than an outstretched canvas where it suppose to fit and it forms a wave pattern where it was folded and a trick is to make the screen shorter but not like Google who made theirs too short.
With the advent of AI on and off device globally completion on things like foldables, with relatively few manufacturers in the game, will decrease as China bans western devices with AI and the west doing the same - so innovation & competition will be limited even more so than now.
Second 'creases' example is grammatically OK, if he's referring to multiple phones! They're dummy phones so some have creases and some don't. The more creases I see, the more I like a dual screen design.
Never owning one because of the crease is funny. I've been using the fold since the 2 and it's really just not a thing. The crease is mostly invisible on operation
How do you base your judgement on dummy units? They are made for the case manufacturer to design them for a good fit. These units aren't going to be a 1 for 1. Silly

Not silly, same hinge design = same crease. The difference is fake screen material causing crease to show up easier.
If you want foldable go with Chinese phones and avoid Samsung,, they respect their users.

If we're talking about the crease specifically, Samsung prioritizes water resistance with their hinge design.
The fact is that all Chinese are ahead in hardware technology because they make their own chip technology. Samsung does not have access to these superior miniaturized parts.
Samsung currently reverse engineering the Huawei fold to try implementing by Fold 7. It is doubtful as we talking about 2yrs of hardware advancement.

If Xioami can all but eliminate the crease on their phones, why in the world can't, or more likely, won't Samsung?
Xiaomi foldables do not come with an IP rating for water or dust resistance, unlike the Z Fold 5’s IPX8 rating that means it can be submerged.

@@scaryifliteralMy apologies Shane. Samsung cannot get away with saying that's the reason any longer. The Vivo X fold pro HAS ipx8 and a barely there crease similar to the Xiaomi. Samsung are more than capable of eliminating their hinge, they just can't be bothered for whatever reason.
I will happily be getting a the fold 5 when the price drops. That phonw is flawless in my opinion
Mediocre cameras, small battery, big crease in middle, narrow front screen, lots of flaws with the 5. literally any Chineese foldable surpassed in quality, battery etc

Owning a phone is very difficult from speculation. This is why many reviewers themselves, keep coming back to a pixel Fold, or have it in their rotation. Doesn't happen with any Samsung, especially when reviewers have so many units.
