Mitä merkittävää sinä olet ikinä saavuttanut, mitä meriittejä sinulla on tulla tänne alentamaan Kipperin saavutuksia?
what an absolute legend. I remember mini Kipper behind him in the stands every warmup mimicking him every home game. brings back so many memories :) congrats KIPPER
Growing up watching him was so incredibly special. I'm glad they included a montage of some of his incredible saves- it gives newer and younger fans a great show of what it was like watching him play.
It was a amazing time. We weren't the best team but with kipper in net they were almost unbeatable. Big tough players that made you not want to work as hard because you had to pay the price. Then even if you tried kipper stopped you anyways 😂
It was awesome, didn't matter if he just made an impossible save or tough goal, he'd turn around flip up his mask and drink some water with no expression. You could not rattle the guy
@@I_amTurokyea funny af if all that’s true why were teams consistently beating them especially in the playoffs. Not even close to almost unbeatable stop the glaze 😂
Canucks fan here. Kipper was special in Calgary. I remember growing up watching us play the Flames and thinking "oh boy, our defence better be good tonight, because we're not beating Kipper". And that was true consistently right to 2013. I was surprised when he retired so young, but I sure was relieved as a Canucks fan! He is to Calgary what Roberto Luongo is to Vancouver - a true legend. Congrats Flames fans on retiring the number of one of the NHL's premier talents. Forever a Flame!
One of the last few goalies that could steal a game. Played almost every night. They don’t make em tough like that anymore. Congrats 34. You were a stud between the pipes
Never made the headlines here in Finland for any other reason but his goaltending. Old school man with very few words, such a rare treat nowadays. Nothing but respect for this guy, one of the best finnish goalies ever.
Not much makes me miss being a kid but holy hell, that montage made me feel things. It was an honor to grow up watching em, he gave me my love and appreciation for goalies and made 9 years feel way too short. Well deserved.
This guy is the reason I started watching over 20 years ago. I had forgotten how UNREAL he was until they showed that highlight reel. One of the greatest goalies ever and Flames fans are so lucky to get to watch and cheer him on for years. Absolute legend! ❤💀KIPPER FOREVER💀❤
I was in Grade 2 when Kipper played for the Flames and helped us make it to the Standley Cup Final and I was in Grade 11 by the time Kiprusoff played his Final NHL Game I was a huge fan of Miikka Kiprusoff #34, Thank you Kipper and we will always remember you Go Flames Go 🔥
As an Oiler Fan of 36 years I always liked this guy. He was a pillar through some bad years for the Flames. Congrats and well deserved! Classy guy, great Goalie.
It is the finest showing of a true hockey fan when you can appreciate of the greatness of a player from a rival team! That shows that in the end we are all hockey fans. We just migth have different teams we cheer for!
Kipper doesn't get mentioned enough amongst the all-time greats. If he had played four or five more seasons, he probably would be. Congrats dude and thank you for the memories that will last as long as I live.
Miikka Kiprusoff is a remarkable goalie I had the honour of seeing on the ice and meeting in person. He’s a genuine human being with great compassion for people his family and his team. This is a very special moment for Miikka. Well deserved for a legend! Hats off to number 34!
I was a die hard Flames fan growing up in Toronto before my parents split and I remember like it was yesterday we used to do homemade pizza night every Saturday night and I'd go up to watch the Flames play Hockey Night in Canada games and eat pizza while my parents and my sister would watch TV downstairs. at least 4 times a night it seemed I'd be running downstairs, giddy like a school girl to reenact a save Miikka had made for my mom and dad. I remember when I first moved to Toronto getting a hard time for being a Flames fan from the Pastor at our new church who was a die hard hockey and Maple Leafs fan. When asked though who was my favourite player I was met with "Oh well that's not bad a bad pick at all" when I replied Miikka Kipprusoff. Pastor Cam is now a long time family friend, I haven't lived in Toronto in quite some time and I haven't run downstairs during a hockey intermission to see both my parents in even more time than that but this ceremony brought back awesome childhood memories and made me feel 6, maybe 7 years old all over again. Thanks for an awesome childhood Miikka!
I was here to watch this. My first ever jersey retirement and Will probably be my favorite one. You can also see the emotion in his eye's. I'm so happy my dad told me about Kipper and i will always have him somewhere in my mind
It was very weird that Kipper was so under appreciated in Finland and in Canada/US also. He flew under the radad. Media wasn't interested about him. Vezina winner and my favourite goalie. What a career! Thank you Miikka!
I remember World cup final Can - Fin where he allowed a goal in the start. Calmly he lifted his mask, took some water and only allowed one more goal in the match that ultimately ended Can 2 - Fin 1. I doubt Fin would've been in that final without him. A legend 🤘.
The 2004 run to the cup, the Red Mile, and the Calgary Flames with number 34 in net. I was fortunate to take valued customers to the complete run. It is of great memories, loosing my voice for 6 weeks cheering on my beloved Flames. The City was a sea of Red. My memories are still vivid today and will be forever. Thanks Kipper for 9 Years of memories
It’s crazy that he retired over a decade ago and yet there are still a couple of guys about to play in this game in penguins jerseys that played against him.
Not just the best goalie to ever dawn the lovely blasty. Perhaps one of the best goalies to do it, ever. Thank you for allowing us to retire your jersey i know youre a very personal person. Thank you.
I remember back in sweden in the 90s when kiprusoff played for AIK, i was at one of the games, and he was injured, guess who I got to sit next to at the game, the legend himself. And I will never forget this moment. Thank you sir.
As the sharks drafted and traded Miikka Kiprusoff as they did not need him as the #1 I am thrilled he became even better than what the sharks thought he was.
Kipper was a legend and I never saw him as a 3rd string in SJ. I think SJ was just lucky in the early 2000’s with 3 #1 caliber goalies. I think the reason they parted ways with him over Toskala was because SJ knew Kipper had a high ceiling and that he would demand more starts but with Nabokov a top goalie in the NHL at the time they could only guarantee him 20-30 games per season and that wasn’t enough for a guy like Kipper. I miss the goalies from the 2000’s era .. it seemed like those hybrid tendys were always battling for pucks and never gave up on plays. Today goalies are soo technical in their positioning and saves that they very rarely will sell out and leave their feet to make a huge save. It makes goaltending kind of boring in my opinion.
Growing up in the uk was very hard to watch flames games as games would start at 3 in the morning lol i started following the flames in 2002 so kipper was god to me well deserved kipper without you staying up till 6 in the morning wouldnt have been worth it we definitely wouldnt have won as many games thats for sure lol
I remember that season when Calgary eliminated my favorite team Detroit and shut them out. I hated Calgary but had to still cheer for them cause of them being a Canadian team, and me being Canadian. I liked Detroit cause of the Dominator, Yzerman, Lundstrom, Zetterberg, etc era. But anyways congrats Big Kipper. All the best.

He was truly unreal. If we played great we won. We played average, we still won. Played like trash? His shutout put it in the win column. We actually lost- it was because Kipper didn't score enough. That's what flames fandom was like during his reign. An assuming, dominant legend who deserves to be in a hhof. Don't believe me? Cue the highlight package.

We were seriously spoiled with Kipper. We've had good goalies sense of course- but nobody can compare to Kiprusoff
He could steal a whole series, ask Stevie Y
Over 70 games for 6 seasons straight. That's more then unheard of now a days. I don't even think it's possible
