I have dill that flowered, Im tearing down that garden. Could I transplant or just start over next summer? (Wisconsin). Thanks
Once it flowers it is pretty tough to get the good tasting dill back. You could try propagating a cutting.
AM I CUTTING THE BRANCH OFF? LEAVE THE TRUNK? Looking at it like a tree to understand better.
I’m still confused and there are no good videos that show EXACTLY where to cut the dill 😫 can you tell me, do I cut below the node where it splits? Or above it? Or just cut the one branch that has already split at the node? I have a really nice plant but it’s not branching too well and I want to help it. I’m a brand knew gardener so thanks for the video and any extra advice if you have it 💜
Cut right below where it leafs out. If there is a branch, then right below that.
@@Kelly_Mae it really struggled. But I found out that it was because it was bolting. So after the hotter summer months I planted some new dill and it did great, without any help, until the frost came
So if it flowers, should I cut them off?
Yes. That is called bolting and if you cut it back you can prolong the fill.
I don't understand how my whole bill plant wilted but I can't seem to get it to rise again. Do you have any tips?
If it is really hot, then try some shade in the afternoon. It also needs a good soil with aeration. You could try adding some vermiculite to help aerate the soil.
As an indian I often get confused whether to grow them in summer or winter
The hot dry months are when the dill flowers and the dill starts to taste bad. Best when it is sunny but cooler.
Yeah I agree with that comment this is simply unclear! You talk about a branch but you refer to the stem. No point telling what we 'want' to do, tell exactly and unequivocally what to cut and why! I it would be good if you were more instructive. Thanks.
Ok
I agree, I finally found some and trying my first time to grow and USE. This was not clear on what to take.said leave the stem but also said to cut stem...????
