Meh, I don’t know. All he was really talking about in this final scene was that the cult of personality around him was so strong that if they made a martyr out of him, the Helghast would lose their minds and go full WW2 Japan and fight to the last man out of vengeance and rage. Visari believed he was the only one with enough influence over the Helghast that he could guide Helghan and the ISA through a negotiated peace. Kind of, again going back to the WW2 analogy, like the reason they left the Emperor of Japan in power. That said, Visari and his inner circle, while certainly a bunch of bastards themselves in their own right, were definitely keeping opportunistic psychopaths like Stahl in check. Helghan always had the capability of weaponizing petrusite. Judging by Admiral Orlock’s genuinely horrified reaction to Stahl’s Earth genocide plan though, it’s pretty clear doing so was a fairly appalling and unacceptable idea even for most of the Helghast higher ups. Out of Orlock, Lente, Metrac, Cobar and Radec, maybe Cobar is the only one I could see being genuinely insane and depraved enough to actually do anything like that, and he was pretty much just a militia colonel being kept in check by General Metrac. Everyone else, while certainly having a fair amount of war crimes and evil tendencies to their name, actually seemed fairy level headed and professional for the most part, as far as space fascists go.

Doing so would mean stepping as low as Earth did when they forced the majority of the old Vektan population(the people who would later found the Helghast Empire) onto Helghan under the assumption that they'd all die from its inhospitable environment.... just because Earth didn't want to lose its place as the biggest economic and political power in the galaxy.

It got so bad that they decided to demand that they be allowed to just leave and go to Helghan, to which the ISA military government responded by essentially saying “fuck it, go ahead.” Basically washed their hands of the responsibility of having to deal with the Helghast at all. And so millions of Helghast chose independence from the ISA at any cost and left for Helghan in “The Exodus”. The ISA technically could be considered to have forced it by making life such a living hell on Vekta for the Helghast population, but then the Helghast could have accepted their defeat in the First Extra-Solar War without resorting to terrorism, which might have allowed relations with the ISA and UCN to smooth over and normalize faster and painlessly. But that’s pretty much all of Killzone - a never ending cause and effect cycle of both sides making horrible decisions that lead to more conflict.

The "Just accept defeat" narrative would mean the resistance movements of WWII should have laid their arms down and accepted nazi rule, as just one example. Its really not an option. The Vektan colonists were probably right to resist. Wouldn't you, if it was your country, your home and people being oppressed? That doesn't excuse what the Helghast end up doing later, though. Once they've gotten off world and have a new place to call home, that's when it gets muddy.

Sev wandering out of the palace and seeing a second Helghan fleet arriving to wipe out what's left of the ISA, and the music reflects the utter panic as the soldiers see how screwed they are. And while everyone else runs around in panic, Sev just sits down and watches, unable to gather anymore strength to fight. So bleak but fits the game perfectly.
They better make a Killzone Trilogy Remaster because I never got to play these games and I have a PS4 literally ripe for the chance to have a remastered trilogy of Killzone games. I wanted to play the games mainly due to this epic soundtrack and interesting story behind the Helghast.
If you get PS Now and do the 7 day free trial, you can literally marathon the whole series (minus the handle held games). All I’ll say if when your almost done with your free trial, don’t forget to disable auto renewal and level your expectations for the first one. The second one is when things get good, but playing one with make you appreciate 2 more.

To me KZ2 has the best soundtrack out of all the KZ games. Sony and GG should release a master bundle with soundtrack from kz1 to Kzl all the way to shadowfall. Maybe a behind the music etc. and perhaps if there are any, maybe the unreleased song(s). I wonder why they replaced the composer for the new game. I get the new characters/settings/ etc. but why did they replace joris de man ?
I hope it wasn't a money issue, but if it was, Sony made a mistake and should have paid the man whatever he was asking for. Although KZ2 was a terrific game, I think the soundtrack put it over the top.

Also, they were never cleared to destroy Stahl's ship in the first place. Last time I checked, the ISA had capitulated. Their confirmed orders were to warn Earth using the computers on the Space Station/Elevator.
