    I put my leaves in my chicken coop. The chickens poo and shred them up through the winter. And come spring they all go into the compost pile. With all the poo. It decomposes very quickly 😊

      HEY!!! That is an awesome idea. I wish I could have chickens. I have an HOA. I never thought I was going to get into gardening as an adult or wanting chickens.

    Here is the fundamental question not asked or told that , I wanna know can the this be mixed into the soil or is it only for top dressing.

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty  15 днів тому

      HEY Trinitechy. it can be mixed with soil, used for seed starting, and mulching around the plants. I used it to fill my new raised beds.

    When I'm making the leaf mold, should I put a lid on the container once it's ful

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty  22 дні тому

      HEY, Clara!!! Leave it off because you want the rain to help break it down. The moisture helps it break down.

  • @manifestingourfamilyhomestead
    @manifestingourfamilyhomestead 29 днів тому +1

    Thanks for Sharing!!! Do you put the lid on or off once the container is full???

  • @ArlishaBaldwin
    @ArlishaBaldwin 5 днів тому +1

    Question, do we keep it covered with lid with holes to get rain water or leave it totally uncovered?

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty  4 дні тому +1

      HEY Arlisha!!! You leave it uncovered so the rain can help with the breakdown.

    Hi Bear, one good thing I get leaves and grass. I'll even go out and ask my neighbors for theirs.
    Do you have any knowledge of wood ash. My mom gave me bags of it. Have an awesome night

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty  Місяць тому +1

      HEY Cheryl!!! That is great. When I see the leaves on the curb, I just grab them. I know wood ash supplies calcium, potassium, and magnesium. I hear it's a pest deterrent for snails or slugs. It raises the PH of acidic soil. I don't use it because I don't have any. You have an awesome night as well.

  • @Randy_Indy
    @Randy_Indy 29 днів тому +1

    I use the same container you do for our leaves, after filling it up I plunge my weed eater inside and mulch them up down to particles! so easy to do.
    Works amazingly well and helps them decay much faster, not sure the breakdown ratio maybe 500-1000 to 1, you will refill that container many times.
    After mulching them I spread ours over our large garlic bed for winter then mix it into the soil after harvest. This method gets rid of a lot of leaves! We also save bags of leaves then mulch them the same way for mulch for spring planting. Picking them up from neighbors in bags is my easiest way of collection, I even reuse their bags.
    "Great video thank you"

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty  27 днів тому +1

      Hey Randy!!! That is such a great method and so easy. I love that you are reusing bags. I used to do the same as you years ago, cutting them up using the weed eater. I love picking up the neighbor's bag of leaves. Randy, I am late with my garlic, I just planted some today and will plant the rest tomorrow morning before I travel to visit relatives. I hope I have enough room to plant my garlic.

      @@GrowSomethingTasty I like the way you present these videos, easy for everyone to relate too, educational especially for younger viewers, and down to earth! You should do one on this leaf mulching method I personally found my gas weed eater works better than an electric one I tried due to the power and leaves are so beneficial as you've explained.
      Best of luck with your garlic we got ours in a month ago as the ground in Indiana freezes early. We now have 3-varities Soft Neck California White, Hard Neck German extra hardy, and Aglio Rosso di Sulmona. Very excited about the German extra hardy & Agilo Rosso they are so delicious and very robust both are a secret ingredient to any dish!!
      Happy holidays, best of luck with your channel...

      @Randy_Indy HEY Randy!!! I am glad you like the way I present the videos. I try my best. I'll look at trying that method again. I tried an electric weed eater. I stopped using it. Let me know how your garlic does. I wanted to put mine in last month. I planted more today. I'm almost done. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, as well. Thanks for your support of the channel. I'm coming up on 3 years of posting in January.
