This actually helped. i'm 16 and i'm using this opportunity to search for uni's that would actually make me comfortable, regarding to my colour, nationality and sexuality.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I am planning to commit to UCLA for 2021-2022 and since the school is only 4% Black, it is really hard to find videos about this perspective!!
As someone from LA and went to school and lived in the DMV. I think you should really think about being in a place were are appreciated vs being tolerated.
I was born in raised in LA (Harbor City) I just couldn't do anymore schools like a UCLA so I went to a HBCU (Howard U), I'M SO GLAD I WENT TO HOWARD U!!!!!
@@Godfirst986 Some context: I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Spent my first two years of college at USC. Compared to UCLA, "At USC, racism is abundant, but not as apparent." I guess that means it's more subtle. I was never called the J-word or anti-Asian jokes, but the "slights" were more subtle. My dorm had a "Latino Floor," somebody set multiple fires on that floor, they had to employ a 24 hour security guard coverage for that floor. There was a sign reading, "You can burn our floor, but you can't burn our pride." And, in the school newspaper Daily Trojan, some African-American students complained that, they went into a building for a class, and they were questioned whether they were actually a student there. (a question that I as an Asian wouldn't have been asked) AND! My ex-wife is Black/Cherokee/White, and we had a daughter together in 2013. My daughter is already getting barbs, like being told "she's NOT Black," just because she loves to play chess, plays soccer and tennis, and does cheerleading. I have a little bit of knowledge, and a whole lot of empathy, for what African-Americans have, and still go through.
@@derrickm2416 Hi Derrick. The "J-word" begins with a J, and rhymes with Cap, Nap, Lap, and Tap. The equivalent to the N-word, as the slur against Japanese people.
Hey, im from Washington DC also, im a junior at Coolidge High School, this video was amazing thanks so much. Im curious though if you don't mind sharing what high school did you go to?

This is quality content . There are barely any UCLA videos from this perspective.

What is the percentage of Africans at UCLA and what is the probability that one can get a schlorship
3-4%. pretty low chance to get a scholarship compared to private schools
Im Asian at UCLA and love my Black friends … More mature than most my Asian and White friends there
Wow thank you
Thank you sm for this
It has to be worse, to be African-American at USC. Security guards, when you go into your own dorm building, will ask if you belong there.
Huh?
