Had Kendrick and Drake been threatening each other are these guys saying that they would have been loving it?. A lot of people were saying (still some will say) that Nas & Jay-Z rap battle was soft or weak or corny or lame, because it didnt get violent. Grown men (and grown women) with this kind of mentality need to grow up & mature.

Calling it the softest battle is the wrong way to represent what this was. It was a Cold War standoff that was well over 10 years in the making. The most corporate rap battle and hundreds of millions, if not billions of revenue between these two artists that gets generated annually. The threat of violence isn’t necessary when the skills can speak for themselves. Kendrick won and ain’t nothing soft about the good kid from Compton.
You admitting it was corporate is probably what he meant by soft... It's not the wrong thing to say. That's what it was.

For me lyricism is the most important aspect of Hip-Hop and some of the best weren’t what you would consider hard or gangsta…like A Tribe Called Quest, OutKast, De La Soul, Big Daddy Kane and many others….Tupac wasn’t even a gansta rapper when he first started so we already put way too much emphasis on “the so called street rapper” and in my opinion that’s been one of the worst things to happen to the Black community in particular bcuz everyone doesn’t know how discern art from real life 💯
