    Good video 👍Nice demonstration that shows the advantages of the Rigel/Telrad finders. I myself have both a 9x50 RACI and a telrad or a Rigel on my scopes. Now subscribed 👍

    Great video!
    After trying to use 2 different finder scopes, and in the big dipper handle
    To do a 2 star go-to alignment
    Could not tell which star I was on
    I was going to mount my canon DSLR
    On the finder mount and try that for wider field. I just ordered the rigel finder and a dovetail adapter kit
    I Don't want to sticky tape it
    Thanks for posting this!

    Good video Joe. Well demonstrated with the charts. I am thinking between Telrad, Rigel Quickfinder and Explore Scientific Reflexsight. I have an 8” f6 dob. Anu thoughts or recommendations?

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  2 роки тому

      I like both so really it’s just whatever is your preference or almost identical
      people who pick the rigel is similar has two bull’s-eyes instead of three bull’s-eyes but it’s about 10 bucks cheaper but it also comes with a second base where you can put it on the second scope
      I have never tried the explore scientific model so I can’t say if I would like that one or not

    I have a big 16 inch dob and want a Rigel that has 90 degree to view easier, know of any

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  Рік тому

      no i hav not seen any telrad or rigel come with 90 degree sight. The telrad has a riser maybe that would work for you. Joe

    Does the Rigel typically flash like that?

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  2 роки тому +2

      yes it normally flashes that way if there a dim star it is easier to see it when it blinks.

    I have a problem with the mounting. I am looking for a solution for my
    Zeiss Diascope 85. Unfortunately, the housing is not cylindrical, but
    rather it resembles a truncated cone.

      Sorry I’m a little bit lost on your reply do you mean detail red or the radio will not fit on your particular Telescope?
      Since it sounds like you have a smaller telescope I would say go with the Rigel over the telrad
      I have used the Rigel with Scopes as small as 80 mm to his big is 16 inches even though the base is not 100% curved it has enough contact with the double-sided sticky tape they should not fall off

    What would be a good low power eyepiece for finding those deep sky objects?Your recommendations Thanks

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  Рік тому

      Hi thanks for watching but it depends on what scope you have & the focal length & focal ratio.
      But general speaking a 2`32mm to 56mm again depends on what it is. Joe

    Hey Joe, so the cheap red dot finders also have a relatively easy use in my experience however with comparison to telrad, would it be really worth to upgrade? once properly adjusted, red dot also seems like a good option. Your thoughts?

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah there’s no comparison the red dot finders are the cheapest version of these type of finderscope’s
      Did you understand because of the bull’s-eye it actually let you store how hop a little bit easier than just a red dot find a scope
      The windows on both is the tail red and the radio is much larger and to Align it has a lot more play than the red dot find her I would say by at least 50%
      Also these two finders Scopes have three directional buttons instead of to like the red dot finder

    Can you recommend a good two inch low power eyepiece for my 10” dob ?Thanks

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  Рік тому

      ok so the dob is a F4.7 ( correct 1200)normally most of them so i would say 2`32mm any lower and you will see the central shadow.

    I use the Rigel AND a 10X50 scope with diagonal and illuminated cross hair. Due to arthritis I find going in contortions to get behind a finder a bit painful and a scope with diagonal is much more comfortable to use. I wish the Rigel had a diagonal available which would make it more comfortable to use. Some of the books by John Read show star hopping with Telerad and Rigel which is why I bought one and plan on buying another. I find the red dot type finders to be pretty cheesy and crude.

    • @JoeJaguar

      they do sell risers for the telrad 2" 4 tall check them out.that may fix what you need. Joe

    I have a 150mm reflector I turned into a Dobsonian, but I'm not crazy about its finder scope. I was thinking the Rigel or the Celestron Star Pointer Pro. I believe I will get the Rigel after seeing this, plus it is about $20 less and stands up off the tube so I don't have to get so close trying to see through it like on my small scopes laser finder. About how far or close does my eye have to be to see the circles?

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  2 роки тому

      The rigel is better plus it comes with 2 bases u can put a base both scopes. Just switch the rigel as if comes off base easy
      You can be 1 inch from the window to 1 meter away from the window to see the bulls eye but the futher away you are from it it’s gets harder to make sure your looking straight through it

    SO i have found red dots too bright. How is this one diffrent? actually i have found a well adjusted finder and some help with Orion EZ Finder II Telescope Reflex Sight to get you in the ball park plenty. the Telrad has been around a long time... when i was younger it was over priced then, I think it still is.

    • @JoeJaguar
      @JoeJaguar  10 місяців тому

      Well you’re correct for what it is it’s a bit expensive. The Rigel is a bit cheaper and comes with two bases so you can put one base on two different scopes and just use the Finder so I like that feature.
      What a lot of people like about these two finders is because they have concentric circles. You can kind of estimate where your object is if you’re pretty good at. Degrees
      For example, if something is 12° from a specific star, the tail ride largest circle is 4°. You adjust estimate the distance of the four larger circles, and then it should be roughly there.
      Also, what I like is let’s say you have two stars 30° away and something is in the middle. It’s actually easy to guess right where centre is and then I just use it.
      Both of these so unlike the red dot Finder is you’re saying which is too bright. The blinking is actually helpful because when it turns off for that half a second, you should be able to see the star or item that you’re on or near Plus, you can vary delight intensity, which also helps
      Because the Rigel is so much smaller and cheaper. I just basically go with this one.
