I have this exact watch. It's a 2009 model that I purchased in 2009. I believe it was discontinued that year. It is currently going through its second servicing right now after 7 years. You should be servicing it every 5-7 years.
I have the next generation up from this in blue (with teak deck dial), but I've been looking at this for a nice black dial watch. It's just so clean and near perfect.
I have always wanted a Rolex day date/ day just...but the first gen Aqua terra has replaced it on my wish list, I've watched and read alot of reviews of people who own this watch and they seem pretty happy with it..I've been saving a few bucks hear and there and I'm about to pull the trigger and own one my self, I'm veeeeery excited!
I have the quartz version and I really don't want any other watches. I think Omega came up with the perfect watch design here and for some reason discontinued it. The proportions, weight and size are perfect. The design is slightly fussy and retro with the minute markings and twisted lugs. The bracelet feels light but is comfortable. The real story is the subdued bling from the bezel, markers and hands. For a black dial watch this thing catches the light. Fantastic for formal and casual occasions. Yes, the bezel is a scratch magnet, but at least you can polish it.
Having this exact version since around 2007, I’m hooked forever. When its new version came out with vertical lines on dial, I asked myself why not horizontal which will look much better and finally it came, around 2017.
Bought the blue one (2503.80) for around $2k used in 2015. Still have it today. Saw these going for $4k+ these days? Super all round for a one watch collection. Custom made some proper alligator straps for dressy occasions. Looking for some new casual leather straps to spice it up and wear casual. Metal bracelet feels a little old.
Great watch. I have the blue 2503.80, the dial is stunning. Fits perfect on my 192mm wrist and the price was very reasonable, US$1800 and $450 service and $100 for a strap. Still looking for some links for the bracelet to make it fit.
I am awaiting to receive this watch this week. I was weighing whether to get this or the 36mm. I would’ve gone for the 36mm but it was 1K Eur more expensive and that was a deal breaker for me. Anyhow I can’t wait to sport it. My left wrist is ~1mm shy of 17cm and I do hope it’ll make a great fit to kickstart my one watch collection 😅
@@crownandlumeI proudly do yes. Super happy to have the 39mm. It’s a perfect fit, after a good servicing it looks like new and I love that it is super thin. Just an anecdote: my wife is not one for watches, but now she compliments my watch and wants an omega AT for herself 😅 I’m doomed.
Just bought a 41.5 mm and got it for under $3k off eBay. Super stoked because I was thinking about the BB41 but already have the black Bay black and was wanting something different.
Great video. And, great looking watch. You're right, this watch is better looking than the current AT. Very elegant look. Classic design that will never become out-dated. Killer bracelet.
Thanks Mike, nice watch and very thorough video! Could you let us know where you buy watches as nice as yours? It is difficult to know which used watch reseller to trust. Thank you very much!
Owned the 2003 version and sold it unfortunately Have tried many watches since then (3 years ago), and decided to buy it again next year This is just the perfect omega
I’ve been looking into these older models. My main reason... The new ones have polished mid links on the bracelet. I’d scratch it up a lot if I got one. My man concern with these though, is the lack of micro adjustment. Even with half links, I’m not sure I’d get a good fit on the bracelet.
I believe 2002-2008. Within this reference I believe there were 4 models. The original. Model B, Model C and Model D. The original and Model B ran at 28,800 vph. They then dropped it to 25,200 vph for model C and D. I have a 2004 model B edition.
Perhaps someone could weigh in on my question. I currently have the next generation Aqua Terra skyfall 38.5mm, which is 13mm in thickness. I do find the watch too thick to wear for daily use. I quite like look of this first generation Aqua Terra, and thinking about seeking out a 36mm version of it which has an 11mm thickness. Would a difference of 2mm be much of a difference? I continue to hear the more simple and smaller case (thickness) on this first generation is more appealing from a comfort perspective.
The 2500 Seamasters were all superior to their successors. This is the finest example of the Aqua Terra - not least because it doesn't have the wave dial. It's a much cleaner aesthetic.
I prefer this version over the new ones.
I do as well. Thanks for watching
I recently picked up the 2503.33 and was blown away by the comfort. Most beautiful watch I’ve ever owned. Incredible value.

Blue sunburst one here. 2503.80 auto 39 mm. Bought it full set 8 years ago under 2K preowned. That watch isn't going anywhere. Beautiful piece.
Nice, I love the blue dial, very tempted to purchase one in 36mm

Beautiful piece! I have the 2503.33 , white with blue hands and indices. A very pretty and wearable watch!
This is by far way better than the current Aqua Terra. Going from a 20mm to 19mm lug width is ridiculous.
Agreed
This is really a fantastic watch. Since the current series is not available in 36 mm I will buy one of these!

Love the model... and agree with you're assessment with the shape and size
If I didn't have a 39mm Explorer, I WOULD buy this watch. Love the lugs, dial hands and the low profile
There's a 36mm version as well, the blue dial is very tempting.
Ditch the Explorer! I did, no regrets!

Good to see you’re making videos again. You took a long break
Thanks!
I have the 42.2mm version, 2502.50. It is outstanding!
That is a real nice example you have right there. When I find one like that with the full set I'm going to snag that one up.
Beautiful piece. Congratulations
I like this Aqua Terra. Good looking watch.

Wanna sell it?
@@michaelhamm4047Hi Michael. Not planning to sell it at the moment. I will let you know if I change my mind.
This is my other channel by the way.
My second favorite AT model after the 2008 AT with 8500 movement. None other does anything for me really, only these two.

Do you know the reference # on the 41.5mm version?
@@mrautomatech2329 oh man I didn't keep that one long. I was disappointed in the finishing and lume so I flipped it for a Grand Seiko.

Nah
I love the bracelet on this model with the omega logo clasp
the times when Omega had reference number that made sense...
Ha! yep!
butterfly clasps are a crime, I have to wear watches overly loose with them :(
I agree!! I guess you can get some aftermarket bracelet for it. But it won’t be an OEM omega.

I was worried about that as well and it has been a non issue. There are a couple of half links enabling a nice fit.
That's a real concern, worth thinking about. Or go try one on at a pre-owned dealer...
Im looking at getting one of these currently! Will it hold it's value well?
Silver dial is a winner for AT 2500. 8500 maybe a better movement but having day window on the bottom just doesn’t feel’s right
Awesome. perfectly proportioned watch to my eye. bracelet maybe needs more of a taper. But in person might be different
The taper looks OK to me as it doesn't have a typical clasp.

Hi Dave, yes, 2mm can wear quite differently!
@@JustWatchreviews Thank you Mike. and so I do believe as you state, this first gen AT will wear more comfortable than my second gen Skyfall 38mm

What's the reference number for your piece?
@@nickomode7901 I have an early generation one with reference number 2504.50.00
Will oyster bracelet fit on this?
You selling this?
wrist size?
whats the difference between this and the 2504.50?
2504.50 is 36mm and 19mm between the lugs. I think lug to lug is about 44 but double check that. otherwise identical
The business 👌
This old school Omega AT is perfection, the new design is inferior aesthetically IMO.
Old AT is like Liz Taylor 1950s
New AT is like Liz Taylor 1980s
Gen 1 aqua terra were so much nicer than the gen 2.
