If Trent does stay at RB then a top quality energetic DM will 100% be needed because we'll need a player to help cover that space when Trent's out of position. Just like when we had the workhorse midfield otherwise were gonna keep conceding goals down that right side.
Very impressed with Gakpo yesterday. All about opionions but I really dont rate Trent in midfield. He looks so slow and has no work rate. He is reliant on a set piece or a super pass but offers little else. Rice and Bellingham were full of running and physical Trent was walking a lot of the time. Nunez and Diaz playing well but how bad was Soboszlai the other day
I agree with your observations over the last couple of days, I will add that Vergil was not impressive vs Poland, just like Kane was missing vs Serbia.
Tbf look at who was playing around soboszlai. Championship level players bar kerkez. What do you expect him to do? The very few times his team mates actually completed a pass to him there was not much on for him, the whole team just ball watches. Bit rough saying he was terrible, even though he got an assist. Also I can count on 1 hand how many times Trent has started as a proper midfielder. He needs time. But what would I know? All these armchair experts seem to call everyone trash even though they all most likely have type 3 diabetes and never kicked a ball in their life.
@@millmoormichael6630 Except he's always been... He literally was a midfielder who played RB in the first team to go through the youth set up, before that he always was a midfielder.
I don't get the whole "marquee signing" at CB. Why would we want someone to come in and play over Quansah or Konate? The spot is Quansah's to lose imo.
We currently don’t have any left footed cb’s, so Arne slots system won’t be as effective with just right footed center backs, as far as I understand it
Trent is not a midfielder, I think the experiment should cease. He’s simply not dynamic enough and slows the game down. Also he doesn’t do enough of the ball and easily loses the ball under pressure. His best position is RB. That’s where his numbers and stats have flourished.
This is a huge transfer window we need to invest in quality. I feel we need quality competition for Robbo, a quality Centre Back, a defensive or energetic midfielder and a right sided forward.
Agree with this, except you aren't buying another LB without selling Tsimikas...and knowing Liverpool they will only buy a player in one or two of these positions haha
Trent was getting ridiculous criticism as if he was the only England player who had a bad game. That said, he's clearly better as a RB, I don't understand how people can't see that. He needs to be our starting RB next season with Bradley as the deputy. Enough of the Trent in midfield nonsense...
But he's not, we literally have to work out a midfield who can compense him being trash defensively, either we put him in MF, either we sell him, because he's always going to cost us titles.
@@N9ndo Liverpool's CL and PL winning team had Trent at RB. You know why it worked? Because we had proper defensive cover from the midfield and a settled CB partnership. He can still exercise his best qualities from RB like he did in our most successful seasons. You are willfully ignoring this to suit your narrative.
@@gylduran9217 You're just proving my point you realize that ? We had a midfielder who was playing RB for him so that he could play right midfielder and go wide... Ever since nobody could make it up for him and we lost CL and PL because teams target him and the space it creates to have someone else defend for him while h does nothing. Either put him in midfield or on the bench.

@@gylduran9217 Playing him on midfield is an awful take ? That's where he is playing, that's where Pep Linjders wanted to play him, threatening Klopp to leave if he at least didn't play him in a hybrid role lol. At Rb he's just finished, that's the reality of the situation.

You wanted a manager from the premier league? Such as? No manager from the EPL that isnt from City or Arsenal is clearly better than Slot. Only argument might be Emery but his teams aren’t very good defensively
He's also got a fantastic first touch and is a danger from the edge of the area. In addition, he rarely gives the ball away, quite a necessity for a midfielder. But I think his biggest asset is to create quality chances from the right position. I thought he did well in a position that he's not particularly familiar with. I felt quite aggrieved that he was the first player subbed when the likes of Kane, Saka, Foden, Walker, and Trippier offered next to nothing.
@@nigelsmith2457 He got caught on the ball in a dangerous area that led to a chance for Serbia, people are ignoring that, but overall he was fine. Foden and Kane were far worse than him. Rice, Bellingham and Saka were stand out

It worked when we won the CL and PL, because we had Fabinho there and a settled CB partnership. It CAN work again.
