Of course it does. Stiffen your front track shock, take pre load out of back track shock and it helps even more. Not sure why anyone would want to set their sled up to do wheelies, but if you understand suspension, you can.
Clutching and gearing down make a huge difference as well.Also adjusting center shock and front suspension! And......snow lol the more snow the better for ski lift.Cool video either way! A bad day of snowmobiling beats a good day at work🤣
on the 2000s revs you can do this to make the skis not grab as much on the trail. the stick skis grab everything and pull you all over the place. if you loosen that strap it helps to control that
we used to put a hook on the end of the strap, you could take it off and hang the skis on the lake and put it back on when you hit the trails for better cornering.
@@grahamfamilyadventure No that was years ago, I can't remember exactly what I used but an old ratchet strap with a big hook would work, the hook has to be the right size or it might come off. Getting the hook on and off you may need to have someone sit on the sled depending how tight you want the limiter or use the ratchet on the ratchet strap to retighten it. I tethered the hook to the front of the skid where the limiter attaches with a small piece of rope so it would not hit the track when its off.
87-91 any skidoo release front strapand wheelie till your out of gas. .the wheelies ain't like today wheelies by no means as all the track was on the ground with full weight transfer
About 2200 miles is when a few lugs were missing that is if you do a lot of trail riding. We play off the trail lot with low miles so in terms of time they last a while. The tips are pretty flexible and bend around obstacles however I am not saying that riding in this little snow is a good thing by any means. We were just excited. We don't get much snow here in northeastern new york. We have to travel to get into the deeper snow.
First u need to trade those ski doos in for couple of polaris sleds that actually have some power problem solved. Lol! Me and almost all my friends and family are polaris guys so i figured I'd might as well be that first asshole comment to brag up what I ride. True story I bought my first sled in 2001 xcsp 600 and the afternoon I brought it home i put my first 100 miles on it that night drag racing everyone and living in the country with miles upon miles of farm fields that connects to different towns/ bars and restaurants everyone owned sleds. My grandpa and uncle were both mechanics and always said when u buy something new break it in the way you plan on riding it so I raced the hell out of it that night. We would all line up in long rows and someone would flag us off. As groups of riders would be passing thru alot would jump in line with us. After the first 4-5 races in a row my eyes started burning from whatever was heating up on motor/exhaust. That summer I piped, clutched,can,reeds,ported head and still never changed a piston or gaskets till 3,500 miles and I grass dragged it at the events around me all summer. After all that no way would I buy anything but polaris
correct me If I am wrong, but that whole idea for the strap was to help keep your skis planted more in steeper terrain its not to make it easier to do wheels, it limits transfer
Pretty sure you are correct. We do a lot of off trail riding. In some situations the wheelie is useful to get over obstacles such as across a ditch or transition your weight to change the direction you are going. Also they can be super fun. Some sleds even have an adjustable strap lever right on the side of the sled.
Yes it is. Its is a 2013. We do like it. Super quick for 600. It will give 800s a run for their money. It will put a smile on your face for sure. It is a blast for doing wheelies, hitting jumps and a couple of feet of pow. Things to consider is the from the factory the suspension springs are super stiff by design, it engages at very high rpm, doesn't have boogie wheels so it eats hyfaxes/slides, has a small gas tank and you have to run 98 octane premix fuel. They also don't have a sway bar, not that it is a big deal. On our sled we had monster suspension put trail springs which makes it ride nice so you don't damage the chassis. These chassis have a tendency to break in the E and S mod if you hammer the whoops and jumps. We changed the secondary spring so it engages like a normal sled however still rips and pulls wheelies. Changed out the gas tank for a 10 gallon tank. Installed boogie wheels. We also installed grip n rip bracing kit to help reinforced the S Mod part of the chassis. If you have any questions please feel free. I'll put together a video of the changes we made if folks think it would be helpful.
I use run the grass drag races they have around me all summer and ride same sled all winter. Gotta replace ski carbides and hifax more often but the fun I had was well worth it. Had the shocks replaced 1 time and 3 tracks in the 8 years I owned it but never had any other problems from doing it.

Been riding sleds for 20 years loosen limiter strap front end goes up.
It also helps with water crossing.
We haven't taken the freeride across the water yet. I bet the 2.5 inch track hooks good in water.

For sure. We found some deeper snow and got some traction and it wheelied super easy. Its are first mountain sled and are learning alot.

Surprisingly the tracks are pretty tough on them. We have got them stuck on stumps, creek beds and rocks and we don't have any tears. Knock on wood!
