After spending 20 months serving at Adam Ondi Ahman, we reviewed the Doctrine and Covenants as a weekly study subject. With that, we visited all of the historical sites in Missouri, Illinois and winter quarters. While doing these visits and study classes, there was such a wonderful Spirit that we felt in such grave sites such as Hawns Mill. Hero’s such as Amanda Barnes Smith or Joseph and Hyrum, the history lessons that you shared in this segment added a lot of clarity to some of the intrigue and deception of that time. I did business with an owner of a business in Gallatin Mo. whose kin had been involved in the struggle at the court house. We found several of the citizens of that place as well as the village of Jameson to be some good people that we had such good friendships with. God Bless us all to follow the prophet and not be embittered by any happenings or declarations in future days.
You brought many good things forward in my mind as to how I’m doing in my life and how I’m treating others so thank you for the reminders and thank you for helping us understand the doctrine and covenants and part of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I sincerely love all of these videos! I have learned so much and have a greater love and appreciation for my temple covenants. They are more dear to me now than ever before. Thank you!
Hopefully, as Latter Day Saints, we will learn from Joseph smith. This is our final test to love our enemies as ourselves. That’s why we are chosen and called to bear in these last days. As our Redeemer, He has set us an Example. Thank you, my brother! I appreciate all your lectures!
I appreciate your bringing this.... It gives more understanding to what we learn and have learned through studying the Doctrine and Covenants, etc.. We have rich sources of the early years as the Saints worked to build the Kingdom. It builds my faith and testimony. I had no complete understanding of why the Missouri Extermination Order was implemented before this podcast. But now, I do. Also, I realize, by listening to you, I really must purchase and study some of the books many have written about our history, like, "Rough Stone Rolling." ...faith builders...
Excellent lesson brother. It is so wonderful to me to see how in the early days of the church , the Profit Joseph Smith did not automatically have all the answers. It seems to me that as questions arose , he would pray and wait for the direction from the Lord Jesus Christ.
I love these reformation videos and look forward to them so much! Also I need a link or what to search to find this video with Brigham Young and this time era....
One my Great, Great Grandfather’s, John Scott was a bodyguard to the Prophet and reportedly was a Danite. He remained faithful to Joseph Smith. Following the martyrdom of the Prophet. John bore testimony that Brigham Young took on the image of Joseph in a meeting held August 8, 1844 as the Church was trying to determine the successor to Joseph.
For being a profit of the lord, he was very judgemental often disliking his brothers and sisters in a time that is filled with confusion, loss and misunderstanding. It's not that we are to blindly follow a profit. Faith comes hand in hand. ( What ever happened to thou shall not kill)?
@@peterkennedy8011 Excuse me. Thank you for calling out my mistakes. I'm here to learn. This is what life is for. So, I plan on making the most of it. Having dyslexic and texting are not my strong points. By the way I'm not Anti Latter Day Saint. Anything but. With Joseph being the prophet he got to see and do some of the most marvelous things. He preached, shared and showed Jesus and God's love to all that would hear him. Really hear him. The light of Christ, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When you have and feel his true unconditional love, it doesn't matter if you are a Prophet or person, you carry a glow/ light. So what happened to all that love God had showed him( Joseph). He's upset at a common Man. Or the fact we are creatures of habit, wars after wars. No one wins. The one who really one who was Moroni because he ran away carrying a plates trying to warn us to stop the fighting Are you have the tribe who laid their swords down. here you Sidney saying take the fight to them in their house. When we understand what Jesus meant about turning the cheek it is not what you are saying. In the Jewish rules if you turn your cheek it would mean that they would have to back hand you and that would make you an equal with the man hitting you and that means that Jesus was standing up to him and not taking his assault

History is awesome; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Things to learn from.

Thank you Bishop Sweat.
Wonderful presentation! Thank you so much.
Very good presentation on a very tough often misunderstood topic and time of the church in which trials help mold the true Saints.
Thank you Anthony!❤
As with all your videos, I come away with a better understanding of the unfolding of the restoration. Keep them coming :).
