Yo, just wanted to say, super appreciate these videos on PSO. I started playing Ephinea with a friend about a week ago since we've played this as a kid (not that much) and christ is there a lot to learn, there's so many quests and finding info online is pretty rough.
The wiki for Ephinea has gradually been improving, but unfortunately it is easy to miss context for why a quest is good vs bad. Sometimes quests just have really awful gimmicks / room layouts that are not really evident unless you go digging. Or it may not inform you about currencies / statics items you obtain mid quest (Example: Tyrell's Ego in Mines always gives Scape Dolls for certain rooms, allowing you to stockpile for Ep2). Not always fun to search for the maps either for the harder quests. Hopefully the quest discussion here guides you into skipping some of the less worthwhile ones as you level.
Thank you for all of your videos, it seems to me your videos are the only reliable source on youtube for up to date info on pso, progression, positioning and just general advice on how to make your gameplay experience smoother. I've watched most of your VODs on pso and I can tell you by far this one is one of the most valuable for new and returning players. Thank you so much for your work! @@ziggypigstervods I would be most interested in learning more about items for sure! How about mag feeding and adjusting your first and second mags per character/class? I don't have enough knowledge to tell if you have enough info to talk about each class and potential mag evolutions and photon blasts but talking about it as if you are starting out and getting your materials and trying to max out your character most efficiently would be something I would watch. On another note, and going back to what I said, with your videos being the best source of pso info youtube-wise I believe that, if you wanted to, could even shorten the format and make actual shorter yt guides using your stream footage and interactions with chat too. Possibly even structure it as a playlist for your channel. Just food for thought, especially since I already gladly watch your 2 hour long talk with chat while eating or doing other tasks. Keep up the good work!
I wish Government quests could be done in one-player mode on Ephinea. The extra enemy stats you mention when not playing in one-player mode truly is a miserable solo experience. “Miserable” is honestly an understatement.
I made the unfortunate decision of making all of my Government progress on Vhard. I’m currently at the Ruins quests as a lvl101 solomarl. Needless to say, it’s not going as well as I had previously envisioned. I failed 4-2 like 5 times now lmao.
@@jackdaniel3135 Is that RaMarl or FoMarl? RaMarl it is probably easier just to do Forest Ultimate for Frozen shooter runs to make your life much easier. Night and day difference how much it helps to have guaranteed Freeze on the laser enemies or even level 15+ techs that drop there. Pure Forces really struggle solo episode 1 due to how much increased spell resistances they get in Multiplayer for Ruins (Falz takes FOREVER to kill on high difficulties this way). Definitely would recommend skipping those kinds of quests, you may even find Episode 4 still much easier in comparison to Ruins with far more rewards (though may need to lower to Hard if solo in a multiplayer game). Chaos Bringer Ice Resistance is just way too high for most non-geared forces to handle easily and sorcerers are also a huge problem for casual play in multi. Unfortunately not much you can do to boost your tech damage to a great level with them, aside from doing PW3 box runs for level 25+ techs and completing your elemental staves / elemental merges / elemental cloaks on whatever difficulty you can do. Or going for God/Technique gambles to raise your deband + jellen levels for survival.

The Ephinea wiki somewhere describes her as “Solomarl” and it kinda stuck with me, since I went into my first character playthrough with the intention of playing mostly solo. I do want to make a FOmarl one day tho, so I do appreciate the extra info on that class/race. Anyway, I traded some PDs for a couple new weapons + H/Battle and it was the final push I needed to finally finish that quest. C: Thanks for all the PSO content and your responses. @@jackdaniel3135 Low PD trade pick-ups of a spread needle + frozen shooter + h/battle are game changers for the Ranger. They are more or less character defining weapons. V501 / V502 can really help with solo crowd control and Episode 2 respectively. Hopefully you end up getting something like a Heaven Striker (in particular with the Striker Unit Mag), Cannon Rouge, or Last Swan / 50h Charge Vulcan. They can be big quality of life weapons upgrades that may open up quest routing options.

I recommend blue ID very hard, force or RaMarl with Heaven Striker Mag during even beats. Not only is it easy runs, but they have more chances and better odds than Ultimate in addition to dropping tons of tradeable items that can lead to Photon Crystal purchases (Ignition Cloak in particular). I typically will run Maximum Attack 4th Stage -4B- to help new players and also score a ton of these at once. Even if it doesn't have the highest total number of the two photon crystal enemies in the quest, it gets you tickets which *also* can become other needed things like photon drops / materials. Alternatively, you could try a quest with high combinations of photon crystals such as Maximum Attack E: Episode 4 or 9-3:Reality & Truth.
I'm just over lvl 50 and for now I found : One person only Easy 1-20 hard 20-50 very hard 50-? (with good stuff) ultimate ?-? (with very good stuff) anguish ?-? (with best stuff) Usually I don't quest just enter episode 1 and go direct in the teleporter and do forest cave mine ruins in order from where I'm not overpowered or just the zone I'm good with since it doesn't deconnect u after a quest. Now I need to know what to do with my photon drops, where to get better stuff than my varista, how to manage some pack of mob when I lack some dmg, what weapon use against which mob, how to manage the idle stance after a mech gun combo, etc... I'm ramar whitill, using varista, m&a60 vise, cannon, berdys and sometimes db's Saber, that farm volt opt for the launcher it drops to test it. I mostly use varista when there are few enemy or tough enemy because of the quick combo and low idle stance. I use less m&a60 vise in the same condition of when there is an enemy to down quickly like mage in ruins since less effective and high idle stance. I use cannon to manage pack of slow mob or berdys for pack of high mobility mob. I use db's Saber only for de rol le boss.

@@ziggypigstervods actually I am in the document right now (in the pauper mag guide linked in ur Google doc to be precised), I just said I didn't have time to watch it before (4h vids that I need to translate and watch carefully), and for the long response I just copy and paste my stuff from the éphinea view character data section it takes me less than 1 minute to do it. It's just that I'm not a native English, I'm French and sometimes it can take a while before digesting all the information I can read all over places to finish by being confuse about what to do so I have expected that an expert eyes on my stuff will help me. I play Ramarl and i got 11 Photon Drops right now . What should i do with them ? I started the journey with SSF in mind but is this even feasable in PSO with that atrocious drop chances ? ty :)
To be honest, I'm not sure what SSF stands for. Really rough breakdown of what to look for in general: Finished Mag/Materials + Heavenly/Battle + Heavenly/Arms x3 to use weapons, swap for Heavenly/Power as you get higher level. Get your own Ranger Wall / Stealth Suit to save PDs. Get your own four slot armor (even Frame is fine for leveling) Only important techs for leveling (can be PW3'd to save some points): Resta/Shifta/Deband/Zalure/Jellen at level 20 All weapons below are all 0'd to save on PDs UNLESS noted otherwise. Charge Arm (50h) Frozen Shooter Spread Needle Cannon Rouge (NA/AB% preferred, can remain 0h. Don't go crazy on price) Heaven Striker (Dark% preferred, can remain 0h for solo play. End game item worth farming on your own) Charge Vulcan (50h for some bosses) If doing episode 4: V501 (to land spread needle / arrest laser consistently) Charge Gungir (50h if satelite lizards) Demon Raygun (50h if sharing with other characters) OR Demon Laser (50h if only using rangers) OR Slicer of Fanatic (0H is fine for RaMarl, consider 15-30 for other characters) If doing episode 2: Save for V502 instead of V501. Once you have leveled more, consider things such as: Excalibur (Requires 800 ATP but worth it once you level more as it is a main boss killer) Brightness Circle / Lieutenant Mantle and four slot them. Bringer's Arm to act as Demon Laser for more classes.
@@ziggypigstervods hey there. Thx for answering. SSF is solo self found. So only using stuff I found on my own, no trading whatsoever. I'm lvl 118 so far. The main weapon is literally a King's Arms+10 with some % on N/M and dark. I found 2 frozen shooter so far and I use M&A60 Vise for bigger targets. Units I use are 2x Ogre Power 1x God/Arm and 1x Master/Ability I bought the ranger wall with the tickets Armor is a "Perfect Frame" , couldn't get anything better yet, everything I found so far has 0 sockets and I only found 1 addsslot. Ty for the Tipps :)
I wish I had a better idea of when to level where. I played 20 years ago offline, this past month I finally got online. I have a FOnewearl in her 40s that 2 shots most VH caves enemies offline. I tried Hard TTF, still 2 shot online enemies in caves for half the exp, and get killed in 1hit by Vol Opt of he catches me in his blue light case attack. This tells me to just stay offline in VH, where I can try to do all the offline quests and then replay them for more exp until I'm ready for Ultimate. I just don't have the experience and game sense to know what to do when. Edit: instead of worrying about leveling I could focus on hunting rares, but since she's Pinkal I already have Club of Laconium, Fire Scepter: Agni, and Mace of Adaman (so don't really need Ice Staff: Dagon for a weaker Barta). The only thing I can really hunt is Storm Wand: Indra from Pan Arms and Garanz, and maybe some colored Barriers for merges but I don't know how helpful they'll be in turning 3hit kills into 2hits compared to the exp ill get from hunting them. Im having fun playing, but its like, what -should- I be doing. I play on GameCube so I'd need to be online to learn any EP2 lore but that seems like more work/time for similar/less exp
There are a lot of pre-Ultimate mode hunts for forces in particular, even with no access to episode 4, that make the game easier. You have the right idea by going after the scepter and barriers despite GameCube quest limitations. Gifoie, Barta, Gizonde, Rafoie tend to be the big focus for damage on FoNe with situational usage of Foie for bosses like Falz. Rabarta is always nice as a support option, but likely won't be your go to as FoNe. As you noticed, FoNeweral has a raw HP problem. Stacking God/HP (or random drop Dragon/HP) makes a big difference since a lot of bosses just have high set damage. Unfortunately this is very limited to a Skyly drop ID. You may also end up killing a lot of rappies just to cap on HP materials ASAP. Sadly you might not have access to the truly problem solving units like Heavenly/HP without Blue Burst. Higher level techs will make a huge difference with your own safety due to cast time down, so may be worth trying to find a safe box run available on GameCube for seabed. When it comes to room survival - generally raw DPS is always picked, but if you are truly struggling to survive a mistake during room clear in Ultimate, you may instead want to pick up a Secret Gear or Attribute wall. It offers defense that is really hard to match outside of extremely specific Ultimate rares, in particular for Forces. I don't find episode 2 generally worth doing for items as a Force though. A lot of work for almost no reward pre-Ultimate, since enemy resist scaling is so high. A lot of Forces end up taking Hell weapons (or pure Megid spam if desperate) for clear speed for this reason. However, a lot of enemies simply require ATP to kill where in Episode 1 you can win with purely techs in solo play.

@@ziggypigstervods actually I am in the document right now (in the pauper mag guide linked in ur Google doc to be precised), I just said I didn't have time to watch it before (4h vids that I need to translate and watch carefully), and for the long response I just copy and paste my stuff from the éphinea view character data section it takes me less than 1 minute to do it.
It's just that I'm not a native English, I'm French and sometimes it can take a while before digesting all the information I can read all over places to finish by being confuse about what to do so I have expected that an expert eyes on my stuff will help me.

I play Ramarl and i got 11 Photon Drops right now . What should i do with them ? I started the journey with SSF in mind but is this even feasable in PSO with that atrocious drop chances ? ty :)
To be honest, I'm not sure what SSF stands for.
Really rough breakdown of what to look for in general:
Finished Mag/Materials + Heavenly/Battle + Heavenly/Arms x3 to use weapons, swap for Heavenly/Power as you get higher level.
Get your own Ranger Wall / Stealth Suit to save PDs.
Get your own four slot armor (even Frame is fine for leveling)
Only important techs for leveling (can be PW3'd to save some points): Resta/Shifta/Deband/Zalure/Jellen at level 20
All weapons below are all 0'd to save on PDs UNLESS noted otherwise.
Charge Arm (50h)
Frozen Shooter
Spread Needle
Cannon Rouge (NA/AB% preferred, can remain 0h. Don't go crazy on price)
Heaven Striker (Dark% preferred, can remain 0h for solo play. End game item worth farming on your own)
Charge Vulcan (50h for some bosses)
If doing episode 4:
V501 (to land spread needle / arrest laser consistently)
Charge Gungir (50h if satelite lizards)
Demon Raygun (50h if sharing with other characters)
OR
Demon Laser (50h if only using rangers)

Slicer of Fanatic (0H is fine for RaMarl, consider 15-30 for other characters)
If doing episode 2:
Save for V502 instead of V501.
Once you have leveled more, consider things such as:
Excalibur (Requires 800 ATP but worth it once you level more as it is a main boss killer)
Brightness Circle / Lieutenant Mantle and four slot them.
Bringer's Arm to act as Demon Laser for more classes.

SSF is solo self found. So only using stuff I found on my own, no trading whatsoever.
I'm lvl 118 so far. The main weapon is literally a King's Arms+10 with some % on N/M and dark.
I found 2 frozen shooter so far and I use M&A60 Vise for bigger targets.
Units I use are 2x Ogre Power 1x God/Arm and 1x Master/Ability
I bought the ranger wall with the tickets
Armor is a "Perfect Frame" , couldn't get anything better yet, everything I found so far has 0 sockets and I only found 1 addsslot.

I wish I had a better idea of when to level where. I played 20 years ago offline, this past month I finally got online. I have a FOnewearl in her 40s that 2 shots most VH caves enemies offline. I tried Hard TTF, still 2 shot online enemies in caves for half the exp, and get killed in 1hit by Vol Opt of he catches me in his blue light case attack. This tells me to just stay offline in VH, where I can try to do all the offline quests and then replay them for more exp until I'm ready for Ultimate. I just don't have the experience and game sense to know what to do when.
Edit: instead of worrying about leveling I could focus on hunting rares, but since she's Pinkal I already have Club of Laconium, Fire Scepter: Agni, and Mace of Adaman (so don't really need Ice Staff: Dagon for a weaker Barta). The only thing I can really hunt is Storm Wand: Indra from Pan Arms and Garanz, and maybe some colored Barriers for merges but I don't know how helpful they'll be in turning 3hit kills into 2hits compared to the exp ill get from hunting them.
Im having fun playing, but its like, what -should- I be doing. I play on GameCube so I'd need to be online to learn any EP2 lore but that seems like more work/time for similar/less exp
There are a lot of pre-Ultimate mode hunts for forces in particular, even with no access to episode 4, that make the game easier. You have the right idea by going after the scepter and barriers despite GameCube quest limitations. Gifoie, Barta, Gizonde, Rafoie tend to be the big focus for damage on FoNe with situational usage of Foie for bosses like Falz. Rabarta is always nice as a support option, but likely won't be your go to as FoNe.
As you noticed, FoNeweral has a raw HP problem. Stacking God/HP (or random drop Dragon/HP) makes a big difference since a lot of bosses just have high set damage. Unfortunately this is very limited to a Skyly drop ID. You may also end up killing a lot of rappies just to cap on HP materials ASAP. Sadly you might not have access to the truly problem solving units like Heavenly/HP without Blue Burst.
Higher level techs will make a huge difference with your own safety due to cast time down, so may be worth trying to find a safe box run available on GameCube for seabed.
When it comes to room survival - generally raw DPS is always picked, but if you are truly struggling to survive a mistake during room clear in Ultimate, you may instead want to pick up a Secret Gear or Attribute wall. It offers defense that is really hard to match outside of extremely specific Ultimate rares, in particular for Forces.
I don't find episode 2 generally worth doing for items as a Force though. A lot of work for almost no reward pre-Ultimate, since enemy resist scaling is so high. A lot of Forces end up taking Hell weapons (or pure Megid spam if desperate) for clear speed for this reason. However, a lot of enemies simply require ATP to kill where in Episode 1 you can win with purely techs in solo play.
