Each Vasco song has its own story and its own sound, it's necessary to listen to some songs before understanding why Vasco has been on stage for more than 40 years and always with success. Language doesn't help but music is universal.
Ladies and gentlemen the icon of Italian rock music, the great Vasco Rossi!!! He's been rocking the scene for more than 40 years and published 33 albums. The Live Modena Park keeps the world record for the highest number of tickets sold for a live concert: 225 173 plus at least 5000 more free tickets given away for the huge event. Vasco unites different generations, this is why he's got even a young audience. Starting your Vasco Rossi journey with this song, I don't know, it might be complicated. He has his own style, this song is ironic, very difficult to translate. the lyrics are very controversial - and indeed it has been censored by a few radios back in the days... It's another great example of the teatrical side of Vasco - he's telling a story and his language is spontaneous refreshing and very credible (only Italians speakers can grab all the nuances and it's not just the lyrics/words but how he pronounces them which makes him so unique) - if you enjoy this you should check: "Non Siamo Mica Gli Americani" and "Alibi" expect the unexpected.
Well he drops the n word with nonchalance, which could hurt particularly American audience, especially black people. But it is clear that, a part from the disappointment for loosing the girl to the African guy, there is no real anger or racism. Ok, you might not like this but here we go... I am gonna put the translation of the lyrics for this song on here. But please remember, it was written in 1980, and things have changed so much since then. Vasco Rossi is considered a legend in Italy, but he also is one of the most controversial artists ever to come out from my country. And in his youngster years he was wild, I mean, WILD. For instance, this song was severely criticized for some of the words he used. To make it short, he was considered racist and got tons of shit for it. Also, something worth mentioning before throwing the lyrics. Lead guitarist is Stef Burns, historical guitar for Alice Cooper and appeared in Wayne's World with Cooper. He also collaborated with Huey Lewis & The News. He's been playing with 'Blasco' (Vasco's nickname) since '95. Alfredo is a name, the song is a bit one of a kind, a bit ironic, a sort of story, almost spoken... it’s difficult to be fully understood for a non Italian, you said right, it has something in common with country, but not in the sound, but in the way to tell a story in a 3 minutes song, practically it talks of a man betrayed by a girl or left that is angry for this, but this guy, for what he says is not such a clever guy, it is racist and very short sighted a simple guy that simply is mad with the girl that left him, it’s all ironic though. It’s an interesting song, but it’s not the best of him, though it’s very well played. The other songs of Vasco are different from this one that was in his early repertory (eighties).

She immediately took the ball
I saw her go out, hand in hand, with
That African who doesn't even speak Italian well,
But you can see that he makes himself understood whenever he wants ...
Every evening he takes a different one home
Who knows what he tells them,
For me, it's all about his brand new car!
That bitch didn't even bother
To tell me at least something, I don't know, an excuse ...
Eeeeehhh! she had already forgotten
What she had told me earlier
"Can you take me home tonight?
I live outside Modena, Modena Park"
I'd take you to America!
...I bought the car on purpose!
And I had already gone to my head ...
I had made all my plans ...
I didn't take her home,
Well if I married her I don't know, but what does it matter!
I am convinced
that hadn't he been there
She would have told me yes!
I am convinced
that hadn't he been there
She would have told me yes!
...

Think that's song is from early80"
