I agree. They either look a bit cold or as if they're trying so hard to contain their excitement and to "wait patiently & politely" for their gifts from the Squirrel Whisperer. :)
Happy New Year, Mel !! Nice sunny day for the Gray Squirrels, Jays, Titmice, Chickadees and Woodpeckers! I'm amazed at how you can distinguish each squirrel from the others, but you've had a LOT more practice than I. -- Do the Reds usually disappear in the winter? I hope they come back soon; their constant chattering and chaotic nature is fun!
Happy New Year Randy! This video was from a few weeks ago but it was a really nice squirreling day! Some squirrels disappear for a while and then come back but the reds have never disappeared like this before. I haven’t seen one since June. I’m thinking they aren’t coming back. I do hope some more come along some day. I miss having them around. I amaze myself how good I can tell the squirrels apart lol! I seriously can look out the window and see squirrels outside from pretty far away and I can still tell who is who. It’s craziness!! I have not been sitting outside with them for a few days and this morning Mama Squirrel came with two big holes in her shoulder. It looks like it happened a few days ago. I hope she gets better. I love her a bunch! It is already starting to heal so the rehabber says the biggest worry is frostbite from the missing fur around the wounds. I hope she will be ok. Poor Mama Squirrel.
@@MelGsBackyardSquirreling Wow. Sorry to hear that Mama Squirrel injured her shoulder. Bite marks; claw marks maybe? It's not often a squirrel "escapes" successfully! Get well little Mama! Recognizing them from a long distance / quick glance is truly craziness skill-wise, but in a v e r y g o o d way. You ARE the Squirrell Whisperer! I hope the little Reds return soon. Sending up some prayers for them and Mama Squirrel!
@@MelGsBackyardSquirreling Bad Big Bird. Bad! No wonder Big Bird is colored yellow -- picking on poor little squirrels! (Sorry, that just kinda slipped out.) Squirrels surprise me in their ability to survive, they don't have many defenses and they are smaller than most of the predators. Really glad she's on the mend and I hope she gets some extra nuts to keep her through the winter's cold. Thanks for all the videos ... and the conversation! You're a great friend to the woodland creatures and us humans too.
@@randy-9842 Lol! I wish all the big birds were more like Big Bird!😂 I’m glad she’s on the mend too I just hope she doesn’t get any frost bite. I don’t want to have to catch her. She is pretty skittish and I really don’t think she would be very happy in a cage. I’m hoping she gets better all on her own and I already told her that she better never let this happen again lol!
Every time I see you in my notifications, I smile! Love your channel...the birds eating right out of your hands is so amazing! But, the squirrels are still my favorite!! 🎉Happy New Year, Mel 🎉
They are all so sweet. That catch never gets old. So talented! 😂😂😂 I'll still never get over how the birds sit right in your hand😊😊😊😊. Hope your new year will be wonderful! ❤
Happy New Year!!🎊 I agree! They are all so sweet!! Unfortunately my poor Mama Squirrel was attacked by something and I saw she has two holes in her shoulder this morning. It looks like it was a few days ago and it is starting to heal. The rehabber said to just watch out for frostbite because the fur is missing around the wounds. My poor Mama Squirrel. I hope she will be ok.
@@MelGsBackyardSquirreling I'm so sorry to hear that she got hurt.😢😢😢 I pray she will be okay. It really sucks how they are always on the bottom of the food chain and everythingbwants to either kill and eat them or just kill them for do reason. My neighbor killed well over 20 this past year alone and at least 6 died in the road last year not including one 2 days ago.😢😢😢
Happy New Year sweet heart ! You have a nice voice ! I'm saying that because in the other video you had a very "serious" voice. Why "impostor mama" ? Do you have your new computer ?
Aww, thank you! Imposter Mama looks exactly like Mama Squirrel except she has a tiny piece missing from the top of her left ear and she does not catch and Mama Squirrel is a professional catcher lol. Sadly my poor Mama Squirrel who right now is my favorite has 2 holes in her shoulder. I am assuming a hawk tried to get her. She is already healing. The rehabber told me to just watch out for frostbite because she’s missing fur around the wounds. I just saw her a minute ago. She’s looking ok. I hope she doesn’t get any frostbite. I don’t want to have to catch her. I don’t think she would do well in a cage. My poor Mama Squirrel. And yes I do have the computer but I have not done a thing on it yet😂.
@@MelGsBackyardSquirreling Poor Mama, but it could be worse, they are tough and it's not cold, here we have no snow and it's been more like October or November, it's not normal at all. The black squirrel seems to improve, but he has no fur on his back, I think the wounds are OK, he's not too easy to approach. Turn the computer ON at least ! 🙂
@@MelGsBackyardSquirreling What did you buy ? Yes, surprisingly, the black one is much better with no bloody patches anymore, it's healing I think, we have snow now, there is one coming with some difficulties with the back legs and sight and I'm not sure if it's my friend who is in better shape or simply another one. It's not easy to figure it out, they move fast and are nervous by nature ! Thanks
Happy New Year!🎊
