'Reverse- repertorisation' from Kent- repertory can be done (mostly from Generalities section) in order to deeply understand this concept about each remedy. Why self medication is dangerous-is very well explained by you.

Repeat is very important. If Bry one dose work started or any dose started then I think should not repeat till again demand by new symptoms. Dose and repeat is top important like potency. Medicines name only not sufficient.
