The name Caligula's horse comes from the historical legend that the Roman emperor Caligula, who was insane, planned to make his favourite horse Incitatus a consul.
Thanks for doing my request! You described my first experience of listening to this song exactly! It was indeed hard to find the “center” at first with the off-kilter verses, but the groove definitely grows on you. Indeed, they had a new album come out last month and it’s definitely worth checking out. I became a fan when I saw them at ProgPower last year and they absolutely stole the show and blew everyone away. Even better live.
A&P-REACTS I’m with Thomas, they’re better live for sure. I’ve seen them in Perth (Australia) a few times and they’re great every time. Check out Inertia + Cannons Mouth Live in Brisbane for an idea of how they sound. I’m sure they’ve got a video of Graves live as well
@@shanerogers3869 Yes, that's a fantastic high-quality live video: ua-cam.com/video/cahLu2Z09Ow/v-deo.html I didn't realize Jim had ever recited Inertia live!
If you go for another song by them, Graves is a masterpiece. Also if you like Caligulas Horse, check out Haken - The Architect. You havent done them yet and they are one of the best prog bands out of the 2010s.
Yeah, Graves is their magnum opus. That sax solo!! It would definitely expand the guys’ idea of what this band can do. Plus, I think Pedro would really relate to and love the lyrics about fatherhood. Could be a cool experience for them to listen to together.
@@evergrey4life955 I love Evegrey. Pity they haven't reacted to some of Evergrey's classic songs from ISOT, Recreation Day, the Inner Circle and why not Solitude..To me In Search Of Truth is in top 5 conceptual albums of all times. And CH has gradually become one of my favourite bands too. Interestingly enough, this new album is their favourite for me. Not that their previous ones were bad - many gems in it, but this one grabbed me so easily:) as a whole experience and probably made me appreciate more their older stuff too.
Vladimir Velikov love to hear that! They definitely should do more Evergrey reactions. They (Evergrey) will bring out 1 new song this year in November and a new album next year in February. It will probably take the first place for 2021 for me because it can't be bad. It's impossible for Evergrey to release a bad album.
Wow! Really happy you liked these guys! You should definitely also check out the Tempest and I think based on this that you would definitely enjoy Invasion by Haken! That's crazy good!
Australian band ! You guys have made my day. I saw these guys live right before the plague shut all my venues. They are excellent. This song reminds me of Rivers of Nihil. btw Legend has it that the emperor Caligula made his horse Incitatus a senator. Cheers guys.
Finally Caligula's Horse. Sam Vallen is an awesome songwriter and Jim Grey is amazing at vocals and writing lyrics. You should really check their song Graves from previous album. It's one of those songs that you don't only listen to, you just feel it.
Would Looove to see a Graves reaction. I requested Slow Violence first since it’s a new track and I was kinda hoping Pedro would like it and maybe review the album
Great reaction. The new album is great and their last album In Contact is a classic. Definitely check out more of their stuff! They should be bigger than they are
They are very very good. Definitely do Graves from them next time, or Autumn & The Ascent from the new album. Also the vocalist had a band called Arcane, their Known/Learned album is amazing.
Please, do more from them. You won't be disappointed! Specially now as they've just released new album. If you want heavier stuff - you can do The Tempest or Valkyrie from this album. Though my favourite is Salt. Autumn and Ascent are marvellous too. The album is amazing.
22 May was the new album out from Caligula's Horse. You have 4 more studio albums do listen to. The album *In Contact* from 2017 is also really good. Caligula's Horse is maybe one of my top 10 favorite *soft* bands out there. You need to listen more of this guys 👍
One of my favorite bands! Great live also. This is probably there most simple song. For a more proggy song would do The Tempest or Salt from this album or their masterpiece Graves from older album
They have a new album and its good, but you really need to check out the album before it its absolutely fucking spellbinding. His voice is even better on the last one.
Nice to see some prog on this channel. Speaking of which, I checked and noticed you haven't ever reacted to anything by Threshold. Are they not up your alley or have there simply been too few requests?
I agree. Vanden Plas is one of my favourite bands too. Unfortunately I have seen very few reactions of them in UA-cam and they deserve more and are no less than the much more famous bands, even they surpass a lot of those.
If you're looking for some diversity in their style, I'd try out Salt and Autumn on their new album, Dream the Dead, Love Conquers All, and Capulet on their In Contact album, Bloom/Marigold, Rust, and Firelight on Bloom, just for starters. Their two previous albums before that are also pretty great.🤘

This must happen
@@paravarium It would be rude not to. 😁
The new album is absolutely amazing! You should definitely listen to the whole thing and do an album review!
I’m not the biggest fan of them but freaking loved this album!
Christopher Kokotajlo Me neither. (See my name: that's my favourite band.) But love the album too.

Caligula was as mad as a box of frogs - he's known for appointing his horse as a Senator.
Their latest single "Oceanrise" just dropped.
Aww. Not the one I requested on Patreon, but I'll keep requesting the song I want as well haha. I requested Caligula's Horse - Salt.
Smithysmithin that one is great too
Salt is my favorite from the new album. Amazing track

GO PROG! :D
Caligulas have a lot of beautiful songs: oceanrise, dream the dead, will's song, graves, the hand are the hardest. do more react of caliuglas!

Soft bands? Wut? Anyways, my personal favorite album by them is Bloom
@@jthomashair Okay maybe not *soft*. But I listen to many black metal right now, so Caligula's Horse is *soft*, if you understands me.

Great reaction! Please do their song "Graves"!!! It's a 15 minute masterpiece that takes you on a musical journey
You really need to check out Graves!
Holy noly
I can't wait then that you guys will hopefully return to them with my Patreon request :p
We can for sure do that
Need to check out "Salt" and "Autumn" from this album.

Mix between Karnivool and Leprous.
Nice to see some prog on this channel. Speaking of which, I checked and noticed you haven't ever reacted to anything by Threshold. Are they not up your alley or have there simply been too few requests?
I am personally not a huge prog guy, really picky when it comes to prog. Perhaps one of the reasons we don't check more bands within that genre.
Oh man, you guys gotta check out Marigold...
Marigold is such a good song 😭
1:07 you've never done Vanden Plas either, one of my favorite prog metal bands 😢

That's Prog and Caligula's Horse.
Also, my favorite album of the year, so far. Until Draconians album comes out haha.
React to Medicated - My Descent
guys please react to TAKATAK - "Fault Lines".
I beg you please!
Check out "CALLEJON - Metropolis"
There is a music video and a only song video.
music video = 09:15
only song = 04:43
The singer was in another prog band called Arcane. Try Keeping Stone: Sound on Fire. They were incredible.
Also try Chaos Divine - One Door.
