Eyy, never knew my stream from yesterday was in but I really strongly beleive it could be the James Street extension - no idea why, I just have a feeling about it!
Immediatelly after seeing this, I was hella confused! Upon looking at it, I was sure it was Cambridge Street Parkway! But as Dweller stated, Why would it be single tracked?
1. 68s are Thunderbirds to rescue broken down trains 2. I would say it is beyond James Street and a route will turn around at the sidings from Benton or Newry 3. There is Esterfield AND maybe a Lower Staploe which is near Upper Staploe? 4 .It could be beyond Newry and we could get a Newry Quay and a Newry Harbour?
My theory is that the station behind the sneak peek is James Street. The track going straight leads up to Esterfield and loops back round into James Street which is where the train on the right has come from. And a new depot/siding just outside of James Street. So basically Esterfield is a station with only 1 platform
I like how much Waterline has been updated just since 1.9. The routes look amazing! Especially i like the part from Benton to Esterfield, at first you’re departing Benton from platform 1. Almost immediately you make a sharp turn towards the north. At first the railway is sunken in a hill but then it goes at ground level a while until Cambridge Street Parkway, which looks amazing since it was upgraded, with a large parking lot and a lot of shops. The huge Wondermall sign looks amazing and the track layout at the station as well as the amazing entrance and footbridge as well as the staircase. Then continuing along the highway until the lanes going in each direction unite into only one lane each direction. The curve where you leave the line towards Connolly, which continues straight forward all the way to Connolly. How you cross the road and go down in a long tunnel. You continue to Airport West, which is partially sunken and partially completely underground. How the line to Terminal 2 branches off and how you go up to the surface for a while and go alongside Farleigh Depot before going underground again, past the station James Street, which since the update looks a lot more good and modern and now is underground. The tunnel ends and you continue on a sunken rail line into the sunken station Farleigh. The line continues sunken into the ground until it comes up to surface level, going past beautiful farms and greenhouses into the peaceful and nice-looking station Rosedale Village, under a road and then continuing between the houses by the road and the lake with beautiful views over the lake and the mountains on the other side as well as the sailing boats in the lake until you finally arrive into Esterfield, a nice-looking little community just a bit north of Water Newton.
If Waterline was to be extended to Leighton, i think it would be fun to see it get extended either as a line that branches away from the existing line to Esterfield at Farleigh as a rail link that would merge into the Connect and Express tracks shortly before Farleigh. It would also be fun to see an extension from Esterfield to a junction just before Rocket Parade, without any stations in between Esterfield and Rocket Parade. If the line was a connection from Farleigh on the Esterfield Line to Rocket Parade it would make sense to put three stations in between, one that’s located in the southern parts of Farleigh (Would be fun to see a stadium next to it and a station based of Wembley Stadium on the Chiltern Main Line), one located in a small community close to the road from Rosedale Village to eastern Water Newton and one in the northeast parts of Leighton. Details: The line would branch off just as the line to Esterfield makes a turn towards the north (Just after Farleigh Station, which i would rename to Farleigh Central) and continue along the road a bit before turning south and going under it, continuing through the northern parts of Farleigh sunken into the ground, with a bit of greenery, trees and benches on both sides and then a road beside the greenery on both sides, with large houses on the sides of the roads. The line would then reach a large stadium with a huge parking lot and a station located beside it, inspired by Wembley Stadium station on the Chiltern Main Line in Wembley in London. The line would then go on the southern side of a mountain for a while (Houses on the opposite side of the railway line and the road that goes on the bridge over the station inspired by Wembley Stadium, into a tunnel and disappears into the mountain on one side, it ends in a roundabout on the other side, where the road on the side of the sunken railway line continues, the houses seen from the railway standing on the side of it. The railway line continues past the mountain to a station inspired by Guiseley on the Wharfdale Line in West Yorkshire. With a factory on one side and a golf course on the other. Between the factory and a forest goes the road that has been going along the rail line since the middle of Farleigh. The road that has been following the line since the middle of Farleigh now ends at another road, with houses and shops on it. Another road begins at a small parking lot between the Leighton-bound platform and the golf course and continues past an intersection with the other road crossing the railway, which i mentioned earlier, the road continues along the railway, with houses on both sides of the railway line, until the line finally merges with the Stepford Main Line from Stepford Central to Llyn By The Sea. Station names would be Ashlow Stadium for the stadium and Rippston for the stadium by the golf course. Ooops, the comment got a bit long! But i just get so many ideas after thinking a while, I’m a creative person.
My theory, it's a loop at the end of the James Street Extension. Where the last stop is on the loop, kinda like what you have with the Airport Terminal 1 station
yeah there is pretty much nothing in the sneak peek indicating where this is, the single track, the tunnel and the depot doesn't really help either. Maybe next Sunday there will be more clarification to what this is lol
I thought of a back to depot mechanic as it seems you can enter the siding. Or, considering the class 68, the James Street extension ends up with Connect at Leighton. But I really have no idea!
I think the most logical theory is the Ashlan Park junction theory. Think about it, they could change the section to Airport West and Ashlan Park to be single track and then have passing loops at both these stations
but then again, ashlan park has 2 platforms as seen in a previous sneak peek, unless its just the junction itself. This sneak peek may be the most confusing sneak peek to date.
I think it's James Street extension. So we can see at the background how the line goes overground the same way the red tracks went up after James Street. There is also a new siding, which the track after James Street had (it was much far away though, maybe they moved it). And the reason this can't be the Ashlan Park junction is because the speed limit to the track that would go to James Street is 90 mph in the game right now, it doesn't make sense to reduce the speed. Also, why would they remove one track? Maybe we are getting more than one stop for the final extension and we are getting 2 branches for the Waterline. Maybe it imitates the Croydon Trams as of making trains go one way towards Esterfield and on other way when going to James Street - Benton - Newry.
I think it MAY , not for sure, be, but may be that junction station that we saw in the pre 1.7 JS extension unfinished line where the 2 tracks split off, one leaves towards Esterfield *the one that goes up* stopping at a 2nd station, and the other either goes to a new station or terminates. Maybe they lied about it being one stop after demand. My theory is highly unlikely

No, honesty, i think it's close of Upper Staploe because James Street is close of it. And also because of the Wind Turbines, we also find them at Upper Staploe.
I’m guessing it’s like a single platform in to esterfeild(left being to estefeild) and right to James street and there is possibility for ending routes by going into depots
My Idea was that this could be along the line to Esterfield and then the 171 could come off a short branch line that connects at Upper Staploe, which could make sense why a 68 is there and Connect could come down this line to James Street or so.

Left are the Tracks to Morganstown, and the tracks on the right side which are going into the tunnel is the loop back to Benton. - This could also explain why there's this solo Lokomotive of Connect.

I think its the newry branch to the harbor as its a single track branch with a siding for dock service and also theres a large gap on the right of image and that maybe space for the dock side equpment with a class 68 as the dock shunter

You know. I actually think I got it.. Theory, This is probably an upgrade to the nonetheless branch from Airport West to James Street, I mean why else wouldn't there be a tunnel. But at the same time there is an outside exit which could lead as a 2nd track branch to Cambridge Street Parkway. With the Oreo messing with us, I state this might be an *upgrade* to a branch from Airport West to James Street.

Possible but connect from Leighton City to James Street would use platform 2 to make the trench fully usable there is also a sneek peak with express to Newry Harbour to add more waterline interchanges likely routes for that would be Llyn to Newry Harbour LSR-Newry Harbour LC-Newry Harbour Westwyvern - Newry Harbour.
