Outrun 2 FXT - Custom Courses and Music (Latin Passing Breeze)

- Some Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast Gameplay on the PC using Howard Casto's FXT mod to sort out the controls when playing with a wheel and also using his custom course editor, to make up my own 15 stage continuous route. Now, as much as I love Outrun 2, apart from the original classic 1986 Outrun tunes I've always thought the new music in it was a bit wank (including the new arrangements of the classic tunes, plus I was never much of a fan of the Turbo Outrun BGMs), so I've swapped out all the dross and replaced it with the far better, all new, tunes from the 3DS and Switch Sega Ages ports of Outrun and the 1990's arrangements of the classic tunes that were exclusive to the JPN Sega Saturn version of Outrun. There's also an epic Latin arrangement of Passing Breeze I've squeezed in there plus some exclusive tunes from the JPN PS2 version of Outrun 2 SP and some classic tracks from Sega's other games Le Mans 24 and After Burner, as well as an absolutely bangin' arrangement of the tunes from Super Hang-On.
The course editor allows you make either branched or continuous courses that are made up of any combination of the original 15 Outrun 2 stages or the 15 SP stages in either their normal or reversed mode. This also includes the the dusk and sunset Palm Beach and Sunny Beach stages that are normally only available in the game's time attack mode, which is pretty awesome.

Ahhhh I remember downloading this remix off oc remix many years ago. That part in the middle where the bass goes into the Shinobi music is so dope.
I've been listening to this for years and never picked up on on the fact that that the bass solo bit was from Shinobi. Every time it came to that bit, I kept thinking, 'that sounds really familiar from something else', but I just couldn't put my finger on what it was. Fuck me, so obvious now you mention it, I can't believe I hadn't put two and two together. Well spotted! it comes in at the 05:40 mark, for anyone who's interested.

Love Bay Area in reverse, it seems to flow alot nicer imo. the up hill to chicane looks wicked as the bridge comes into view. Love it. Nice run dude

Also I think that the one thing that OR2FXT is missing to make it the perfect crown of the jewel is the HD HUD; there's a WIP option that has some quality issues and doesn't remove the old HUD behind it, but if that got addressed one day, my OCD when playing C2C's single player stuff would finally rest in peace lol

But frankly I really prefer the real Lindbergh arcade version even though Howard Casto's FXT mod version allows a lot of customization for this PC version.
Now when I play this game it's only the Arcade Lindbergh version
The Lindbergh SPDX version's definitely got a bit of a visual edge over the PC I reckon.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone....either Howard or Boomslangz, could apply the course editor to the Lindbergh version?
It sounds like at some point in the future Howard might look at other versions 🤞
Have you heard anything about an updated course editor from Howard? It sounded like he had lots of new stuff to add, but I haven't seen any new release in almost 2 years.
Nope, as far as I know it's not changed at all.
I installed but have no steering... Using a Xbox One controller. Game runs great. Do you know a fix?
Sorry pal, it's been such a long time since I installed this I can't really help you. I only ever needed to alter the config settings the one time, after that I just click on the FXT EXE and everything works.
Oh by the way, have you done a vid on SRG yet? What are your impressions of it?
Hey mate, I don’t know what SRG is. Some new Sega Rally or something? Edit: brain’s just started working. Storm Racer G. I’ve downloaded and got as far as running it with it’s attract mode, just to check it boots, but I haven’t actually got as far as configuring a pad or wheel and playing it properly. Just been busy with other stuff.

I have the arcade version on teknoparrot but the music is euro beat...how can i change it?
You won't be able to, the game's been altered by whoever uploaded it to swap the music out. You'll need to find an alternative download of the game.
There's another version out there I've seen, that's had all the music swapped out for some awful gangsta rap. It's like the most tonally inappropriate music you could ever put in an Outrun game...
Can you do a tutorial for how to put personalized music on outrun 2006 pc?
I saved a load of new music with the same names and in the same format (OGG files if I recall correctly) as the music files in the game's sounds folder and then swapped them out with the original tunes, so the game plays those files instead. I saved the music into the new format with music production software I had on my PC at the time called Fruity Loops. Always backup your music file in the OutRun game folder elsewhere before changing anything!
@@MrThunderwing so.....if I have a song in ogg format, I have to grab that song and move it to the sound folder and name it after an original song from the game (example: 27_life was a bore.ogg) and change it to the song what do I want
@@don._.kubito Yes, you need to match the original song title exactly. There's normally 2 versions in the folder - one for the game proper and one for the bit where you select your tunes (I think those versions have ALT in their title).
