Looked great. There will be hiccups eventually. Fans love it now. Fans please chill out when the speed bumps come. Elko has the team heading quickly in the right direction and this is only game 3. 1-0 in SEC baby....tied for 1st. Enjoy it. Lots to clean up. O-line INSANELY good.
The easiest decision is to ask Collin Klein which QB gives him the best chance to fully operate his offensive playbook for what he wants to run, not what he can run.
The real question is whether, when Connor is healthy, does he start, or not? I say, if Marcel puts the hurt on Bowling Green and Arkansas, then he will be QB1. Love ya Connor, but you gotta bet on the winning horse.
Side note, we need to limit penalties. That will lose us games against Missouri, LSU, Texas, and maybe even South Carolina. Shouldn't get more than 6-8 a game. Not 13 for 110 yards!
3 things: 1st was the outside downfield passing and the usage of Noah Thomas. We now have all but 1 of the parts of offense to completely keep defenses on their heels. 2 downfield passes (1 to Cyrus for the touchdown and 1 incompletion to Jahdae because he was out of bounds). We need to utilize Noah for these (who's similar to Mike Evans). The safeties for Florida were not that good, but for other teams on the schedule, they may stick to the middle of the field and watch the run. That may put our offense on our heels similar to ND. The second was the 2nd half culture. Don't care if we put in 2nd and 3rd string; but keep the foot on the gas on O and D and shut the game DOWN. allowing teams a chance to come back will bite us. 3rd is obvious: Penalties... this carryover from Fisher needs to be fixed.
I don’t know that we HAVE to use noah for those plays when cyrus seems to get open more often. Love your take on the 2nd half game plan though - offense could’ve easily tacked on another 2 TD’s in the 2nd half which would’ve let the defense play more aggressive as well. Our prevent defense didn’t prevent anything.
I feel you on not having to utilize Noah, but that's his actual strength (50/50 balls) and a part we are missing. He's proven he can make those catches. It was a knowingly horrendous Florida pass defense and we did our job. It seems that Jahdae and Noah need to switch positions in this offense.
For the QB situation: I'd start Reed for BG to keep Connor healthy and bring back Connor vs Arky and evaluate him for a half for his QB1 status. If Connor is out multiple games, then Reed is QB1 until he has a bad showing. This is almost the Chris Leak/Tim Tebow issue. Looch is right.. it should be a QB luxury.
Kauli or however the fuck you spell it is day to day. He will be fine. Probably could've stayed in the game with an injection. By all accounts, Shanahan has been a stud since camp thank goodness.
The real issue is the floor with Conner is so low. He was one of the worst rated QBs in all of college football against ND. He cost us that game. It had to be a mental / confidence issue. Once that has happened, you can never be confident it won’t happen again.
Stop it. Stop it. Stop it it does not have to be Connor or Marcel. It is great to have both and the decision is made on a game to game basis based upon whatever criterion the coaches set. And if it’s obvious they made the wrong decision this week, they can change it by halftime, if not sooner. Have you guys heard of NL and the transfer portal? It is a new ballgame. If players are going to be paid like professionals they either produce or they sit on the bench. Just like professionals. Bruised egos 34:22 and hurt feelings are no longer even applicable! You either produce or you don’t play. And every week is a reset! Stop making a deal out of it!
I immediately click off any podcast that starts off with, “ We overcame adversity, we faced adversity, we rose above adversity….”. The single most overused, trite, mind numbing, and dumbing down phrase in all of sports.
The greatest thing was that feeling that we are the better team and played like it. Dominated!
Love this show
Ugh... too early to hear Billy singing. :)

Agree with Billy's outlook completely, however should have kept the gas on and we need to clean up the penalties / be more disciplined.

Explosivity? Ok. 😂

Damn. Now here's a guy who can't overcome adversity.
