So the reason why they intertwine the two languages is because 1. English is one of the most spoken, languages. 2. Back in the first generation of K-pop, they decided they wanted to start pushing westward and they wanted to start working with a more global mindset. Each generation has added more more English into their songs and it’s coming to the point where we’re even getting some full English. They also do it for Japanese but normally it’s a full translation of already Korean song and then they just add English where it is needed
I clearly enjoy it because English is the only language I speak but that’s interesting to hear. There are definitely more parts of the world that can be reached that way. What are your thoughts on native English speakers doing the opposite? Throwing in Chinese, Spanish, and other top spoken languages?
I think that would be awesome/interesting to have English speakers throw in different languages but sadly I don’t think there are very many people who would like that... There’s so many people who think English is the only language that we should speak here and their mindset is English is one the most spoken languages so why bother trying to include others. Also as far as I am aware, not very many schools, teach anything other than maybe Spanish anymore but in other countries that don’t speak English as their native tongue they learn it as their second or third language, for the most part all throughout their schooling.
JYP is one of the largest companies in the K-pop community, and he just did a survival show A2K… and it was to find American Girls interested in singing/dance/Kpop and get them started training here in the states as a K-pop artist and he chose some of girls to be transferred to Korea so they could learn more about the Korean music industry. If you get a chance, it is a very interesting survival show.
So maybe in our next generations of American music they will start. Having more diversity and languages within our music. Music is way that we can all connect together.
Korean music also uses English for two other (related) reasons: (1) they often use songs that were originally written in English, and they often leave the hooks in English while translating the rest to Korean; and (2) sometimes an English word just works better in the lyrics for rhyming or meter purposes. The songwriting teams are often bilingual (or trilingual, Spanish-English-Korean), so they just pick and choose what works for the desired effect.

Since you're a vocal coach you should definitely react to babymonster last evaluation individual covers (specially haram "pick up your feelings" and ahyeon "dangerously", leave those to last if you watch them all). This song is good but it doesn't show their vocal power/talent at all compared to their pre-debut stuff
React to their songs Stuck In The Middle or Dream. They are more vocals based.
