Duvall is a national treasure. What a storied career.
What set Duvall apart from the rest is that even in silence he would be acting circles around everyone else. For my money he is the best actor of his generation.
Excellent actor, he makes everything worth watching
The Apostle was spectacular. He killed it and wrote and directed it.
A very fine film......
Agreed
For sure. He was fantastic in that movie.
💯❗
His best performance.
Lol
"Oooh what did Brando say?"
"I'M NOT FUCKIN TELLING YA"
Extremely based
One of the best actors EVER IMO. Him and Tommy Lee in Lonesome Dove set the standard for the Western Epic. A True Artist.
I agree. Lonesome Dove is the best!
“Money well spent, Jake. Both times.”
@@lim4275 LOL..One of many Gus McCrae's awesome one liners! 👍
My favorite book series.
@@stevenpaplan7154
I just ordered all the books from Barnes and Noble. They should be coming soon. I can’t wait to read them. I haven’t seen any of the miniseries other than Lonesome Dove, so I’m excited to read the books!
@@lim4275 thats awesome. He wrote lonesome dove first, than streets of loredo. He than wrote the prequals dead mans walk, than comanche moon.
Comanche moon is probably my favorite. I think its best to read the story chronologically by events.
Dead mans walk, comanche moon, lonesome dove, than streets of loredo.
Enjoy. Its incredible
Duvall's character (portrayal) was the hands-down best character and portrayal in Apocalypse Now. Period!
Kurtz: hold my napalm
What did Brando say in the letter-
“Not guna tell you”
Lol
One of the greatest actors of all time. Look at the difference of characters he played from the first Godfather and Apocalypse Now. And he's totally believable in both.
Anything he’s in he plays naturally to the bone. Those two, Godfather Part II, The Apostle, True Grit, Tender Mercies, Falling Down, Colors, Crazy Heart, Geronimo, The Natural, Definitely one of the greatest actors of all time.
Great actor.
‘Nuff said.
Robert Duvall reminds me so much of my pops, with a little Eastwood thrown in. Love men of that generation.
He’s been in an insane amount of great classic and iconic films and when he had to think of a great script, the first example he used was Lonesome Dove tv miniseries. Respect
His monologue in The Road was absolutely phenomenal
An American Classic! Duvall. The Great Santini!
Bobby D doesn't need awards. He is now and forever one of the greatest actors in cinema history
He’s an awesome actor. Great Santini is one of his best roles also. He has so many of them.
Santini is traumatizing
My all time favorite actor.
Love everything he's done, especially Secondhand Lions.
Mr Duvall is in my top 3 actors period!!
His character Augustus McCrae from Londsome Dove is my fav all time movie character. Great actor.
I agree. Gus is a great character, and Duvall brought him to life in a manner in which no other actor could have!
Loved him in everything. One of my favorites is him as Boss Spearmen in Open Range. Also his role in Reacher was so good.
No doubt one of the greatest actors of all time!
A true professional ... he makes every movie worth watching
Natural and great actor and human being. Gives 100% 100% of the time
All my respect to this legend 💯
Robert DuVall as Capt. Gus McCrae of Lonesome Dove is simply a masterpiece of acting.
Robert is a legend !
This is controversial but: in The Godfather, Duvall was the strongest actor to be casted for a role. I think he was even more of a presence for his role than Brando was for his. Godfather 3 was sorely missing Duvall and the tension that would’ve played out with Tom and Michael. Duvall brings the best out of people on screen, sometimes at the expense of his own “star.” But he can sure as hell hog up the frame, too. He’s certainly in contention for a generationally best actor consideration.
Nah
He's a very fine supporting actor but c'mon now.
Imagine if Duvall was in GF3?
nah.. the strongest actors/presences in that movie were Brando and Pacino, by miles !!
Just write "cast" not "casted"
What a Legend! Great Santini is My Favorite Movie!🔥✨
Lonesome dove is an all time classic
apocalypse now is such a great movie...his character just wanting to surf in the midst of battle is hilarious
What a legend, a real great
I love watching Robert Duvall. I think that he and Mark Rylance are the two best actors of the last 50 odd years.
I just watched Mark Rylance in The Outfit . The entire movie takes place in his tailor store. I think he’s in every scene.
I just watched Duvall in the movie The Judge. With Robert Downey. Both great actors.
Duval is a great actor his comedy timing in movies too is fantastic! Very underated
He was even fantastic in the 2 minutes he was in Slingblade.
Duvall is one of the greats.
first time I've heard Howard refer to anyone by "mister."
His portrayal/role as Stalin is an underrated one, movie is fantastic.
I saw an interview where he says that Stalin was his best performance.
Duvall's "The Apostle" is so underrated.
Xlnt film.
Great actor. Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Tender Mercies and MASH are his best stuff. His role as a cabbie in Bullitt showed his potential early on.
It’s funny how bill Murray, of all people, called Robert “the time bomb” since Dan akroyd called bill the Murricane due to his mood swings
I guess it takes one to know one Ally. Lol
Duvall is a legend-so damn natural.
One of my favorite actors
I loved the cinema growing up, so I got into helping out on a couple of low budget independent films. Watching the process really took away my enjoyment of watching movies. I went back to just being a viewer.
One of my favorite actors. Enjoy watching his movies
Jesus Howard loves the sound of his own voice.
I was just thinking the same thing. Duvall was getting ready to give extended answers and explanations, but Howard was already coming with more loaded questions.
Ya. Hes brutal
He is the host
Nothing new
Well welcome to the show
Robert Duvall Is Great In Geronimo!
Robert Duvall is one of the finest actors to grace the screen, he’s worked with them all, it my opinion doesn’t get the recognition he deserves
Honestly, one of Duvall's greatest feats may be, The Great Santini!
I am Santini , the Great Santini …….love that movie !
Between Duval and Eastwood for me. Both are class and the best of all time
Mr Duvall was so intriguing .
So interesting to hear their individual ways of being an actor.
Great actor
Definitely a top ten all time great in American cinema
World Cinema
God damn, you got to love R.D
Jesus is Lord
Awesome talent.
Caan used to say Duvall was the greatest actor in America. Duvall used to say Caan was the greatest. They were also the greatest of friends.
Also, very good in The Natural. Loved him in Network, too. Waddanactor
This was awesome
Iconic!
This was a great interview but the only problem I had here was it was only five minutes and sixteen seconds long lol. (I wish it was longer here lol). Very interesting and entertaining!
Excellent 👍
One of the greatest of all time.
Thongs change scent from one end to the other. Knowledge is power.
God bless
The Great Santini......best role
You can hear the level of respect that Howard has for Duvall in his voice.
Can you? What I heard was 50,000 questions and interjections and assertions, when what I wanted to hear was Robert Duvall.
@@Funkshyn That too!
Mr, Duvall was iconic in apocalypse now even if it was a short scene ,a great actor ,iconic
Awesome stuff
He’s a great actor.
Excellent actor
This is great ❤️
I love how he's "Mister Duvall".
Second hand lions is underrated and one of Duvall's best..jmo
My favorite all time...
Open Range is one of my favorites
Thanks, I’ll watch it
I LOVE THE SMELL OF NAPALM IN THE MORNING
I liked him as the taxi driver in Bullitt.
A tragically underappreciated actor--probably because he's so rarely in the lead. He's up there with Brando, Pacino, DeNiro.
Paul Newman
@@thomaspiccirillo2238 and Hoffman
@@youbetcha6880 Gene Hackman too
Not often on TV anymore, The Outfit, brilliant tough performance by Robert.
When Howard Stern interviews someone its not about them but him😄
what a legend
living legend.
Can't leave Lonesome Dove out of any conversation about Duval either
Duvall= Legend..
Respect
Jimmy Caan should’ve won supporting for godfather 1
Unfortunately, I think what hurt him was that a lot of his scenes and screen time were cut during the final editing, which took away from his performance. He walked out of the screening because he was angry about it - particularly about one specific scene that had been cut out. I’d love to see everything from the first two movies, even if it was 8 hours long.
Nah Pacino
@@lim4275 I'm willing to watch 8 hours of 'Godfather'!
@@6699230
I’m willing to watch 100 hours! Bring it on!
A Master!!!
Gus McCrae in Lonsome Dove is the best acting he ever did according to me...and so thinks Mr Duvall❤
I saw an interview where he said Stalin was his best. ??
Enjoyed True Confessions with DeNiro
Everyone needs to see him as Dr Watson in The Seven Percent Solution.
Damn Kurt, good call. A forgotten gem!
Legends All.
So Cool!
Hello I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it?
Robin cackling at sterns jokes to the point you can’t hear duval laughing.
he was in a great cowboy open range ive umpteen times.
Colors is a very overlooked Duvall classic
Ya. Great movie.
Duvall played a crazy helmeted villain in the Wild Wild Wild West show.
AND...... a great Tango dancer !!!
For gawd sake, allow Robert Duvall to speak. Stern keeps breaking in and disrupting Duvall. SHEESH!!
Love the fact he is related by blood to Robert E Lee
Kicking and screaming. Classic.
''Im not gonna tell you''
