Great review of a great product that is now so much better. The River 3 Plus means us apartment dwellers now have the option of using one unit and a battery while also using our vehicles to recharge a different battery.
Thank you for this video, I run a CPAP and the energy use is around 18-22Watts. This new model will heavily compete with the R2Max. The R3 is very quiet, so I can run a low wattage fan and the CPAP without being awaken by the loud cooling fan kicking in.
I got the Delta 2 on Prime Day for emergency power and have needed it twice already. Ecoflow is a great way to start off with solar generators. I've since expanded my runtime with a 100Ah LiFePO4 which I run through the solar charge port with fused XT60i O-ring cables. The Ecoflow proprietary expandable battery was almost the same price as the generator itself lol
45:30 This wouldn't be too surprising, the base draw of an inverter scales up with inverter size generally. both the river 3 and river 3 plus have new more efficient inverters, but the plus is 2x more powerful.
Hi Al, Like your work fella, this will be a game changer for home office users particularly with the communication port (USB B) as this can be used (I expect) for Computer/NAS safe shut down before battery power runs out. Other players (UPS Suppliers) in this space will pay a big price for staying with old battery tech. It’s a big lesson for businesses if you don’t invest in R&D you lose.
Great video! Using your 5% discount code I just pre-ordered the River 3 plus. At this time, I am not in need of one of the expandable battery options as I also currently own a Delta 2. Maybe, down the road I will opt to expand the battery capacity. Happy Holidays!!
Thanks buddy make sure you check the post. We just put up on the wall. It looks like you can get a solar panel with the river 3+4. I think $189 using our code.
@TechMadeEzy Thank you! I already own the 1st Gen Ecoflow 220 and 110 watt solar panels used to charge my Ecoflow Delta 2 and Anker Solix 300 DC respectively.
On using the meter, for cyclic devices plug it in for 24 hours and get the kwh over a 24hr period. For instance my basement fridge uses about 1kwh/day.
I like the River 3 Plus as well. My only issue isn’t really the River’s fault. I just need something that has more powerful inverter and watt hours. Otherwise it’s a solid device.
Thanks for doing this! One of the 1st reviews I saw and very helpful! Another test that would be interesting to me is comparing this to a/your River 2 to test the 2x efficiency gain they are claiming. For me, my ntwk gear uses about 25W, so that has been a reasonably reliable test I use when I'm comparing the batteries I own. Lately, I added the AC idle draw test as well. Turn on the AC inverter with no load and run from 100% to 0%/unit off. I recharge the unit very soon after this test. Gives me the Watts/hour the inverter uses at idle.
*Why did you not Also do a refrigerator test with the external battery connected as well ? It would be extremely interesting to see how long the River 3 Plus will run your Samsung Fridge for ?*
@@ivanbenkocky3290 Yeah, he said that, but what does mean exactly ? Does he mean another video about just the battery (ALONE), or does he mean running time tests with the extra battery connected to the River 3 Plus ? This is not necessarily the same thing is it ?
@@TechMadeEzy Uhhh, no it doesn't. Not when you present the River 3 Plus for the first time with the external battery attached, then conspicuously don't do running time tests with the external battery attached as well. Hmmmmm ? I wonder why you didn't do ANYTHING with the external battery, yet went out of your way just to show it ? 🤔
And it is basic math. A trivial approximation is the small battery will more than double the run time (it adds more battery than the internal battery size) and the larger battery is double the size of the small battery. That is plenty accurate considering even if you have the identical appliance its power usage will vary considerably based on what is in the fridge and the ambient temperature and air flow.
I should have waited for the R3P to be released as it truly offers more for the extra $35.00. P.s. power coming from your home’s AC outlet is called shore power. 😊
I got the Eco-Flow River 3 with a couple 20ah batteries to get er goin during the longer outages.... really no need for this with their battery. Id glady just take the station tho and provide my own AH extensions
EcoFlow River 2 works great as UPS for my computer for half a year, but EcoFlow River 3 Plus is in my short list as soon as it is on sale in my country.
Hi and thanks for review Few tips - for that suddenly turn off while testing fridge: 1. Did you check in app - Energy management - maybe discharge level was set not to 0% but to maybe 5%... 2. Because of low capacity of battery and when station was under 10% then maybe there is not enought amperage power to deliver to fridge compresor and that was the reason for sudden turn off. You see it is different when you have 256 Wh and 512 Wh solar station - each of them has different reserve on percentage to deliver amperage under 10 % of its capacity. 3. Can you please run some more tests with some different appliances connected to AC ? So we can know when exactly the "fan will start on" for cooling station. My delta 2 fan starts on around 90 wats and it is so annoying so i can not watch movies in my livingroom. This new medel may start his fan on mazbe 130 wats......?? I hope for low price, because ALLPOWERS R600 Portable Power Station 600W 299Wh LiFeP04 is on 229 on sales and it is nice quiet in my living room, so it is cheap and it did what it should for a bang for bucks.
It did not suddenly turn off. At 8:15 it said it estimated 9 minutes left but made it only 7 minutes. It could have been that the refrigerator took more power the last 7 minutes or the estimate was a little off. Either way that is pretty good to me.
What about the reviews regarding a very troubling issue of the Ecoflow River 3 Plus emitting smoke and a noxious odor from the side vents, at least when it is being charged from a wall socket? Hope to hear from you soon!
I have been using battery power stations for a very long time now I’ve done a bunch of review reviews. My point of view most battery stations initially have a little smell. That’s because there’s a battery inside an electronic component. Also, when you use them, the unit will heat up a little bit and then the fan kicks on to keep it cool. Overtime as you use these, the smell mostly goes away But I will tell you it’s never overwhelmed and I’ve never seen smoke come out of the unit unless it’s some really cheap brand and I don’t mess with those because I can’t mess with the safety of my family I hope this helps
I can't find the river pro 3 expansion battery anywhere. Is that a new product thats not available yet? I've found the river pro and the delta batteries. but they look nothing like that one.
Don’t love the large reflective face - looks like a scratch magnet. Don’t love lack of USB-C input on the device, same problem with River 3, why did they remove that feature from the River 3 series? Is it just me, or is the extra battery skinnier, width wise, than the main unit? Could be the camera angle. I’ll probably end up with one, but I just don’t love that shiny faceplate.
ekoflow goes more to interier style with this series !!! I think that plastic material will be also weaker then on river 2 series. So yes - front will be full of scratches when in outdoor use. Andvantage shoul be, that fan should be quieter. About USB-C. Please i will rather use extension power cord where i will plug chargers for each device that i want to charge. So i do not need even USB-C port at all. Also many phones use different power delivery charging protocols (huawei, poco, realme....) that this USB-C port in station could not support and therefor it is better to use to plug to AC extension cord into which you plug chargers for each device that people want to charge
@ the smaller River 3 doesn’t have the shiny face - so why they can’t just make it like that, I don’t know. And the older River 2 can do USBC input, again, why the change? The only upgrade this River 3 Plus has is the expansion battery, and an extra AC port, and faster UPS. Other than that it’s kinda stepping back.
Nobody buys a small device like this to power a home refrigerator. However, millions of people camp or take day trips with small, portable fridges. Your tests should be based on powering items that the device was more designed for.
Really sad river 3 Plus have 2 old style USB-A ports instead of new and powerful USB--C... WHY anyone in 2025 needs 2 old and slow USB-A ?? For me it is NOT TO BUY point!
@NextNate03 In 3 years all USB-A electronics connectors will be gone... This unit need 3 USB-C ports, and if you will need USB-A you can use adapters! I really like this unit but it's really stupid to have this station for next 20 years with 2 pointless USB-A ports... It's really stupid they put them on...

Check the 48V 25Ah batteries on amazn for $220. Puts 500W+ into the solar input.
What about inverter drain? How much does it consume on its own? Can you turn AC outlet on and leave it for 10 hours to measure % drain per hour?
Great review. Nice to see Sunshine😊

Same here! The double wattage alone is worth it! Also, while these units are newer, the River 2 Pro around $300 is a great deal too!
Yeah, I also have the Delta 2 for bigger jobs.

The USB adapter links are not working.

Is it hot swappable?
They didn’t state that it is, but when I pulled the battery off and reconnected it while I was doing testing, it seem to work fine
You should do a review on the predator 350 portable power station
Thanks, Bobby I’ll check that out
