Years ago I bought Select -A Tenna inductive AM antenna for DX'g and improving my AM reception. So it arrives and I wait for evening. Boom! the worst RFI comes through blocking even local stations. During the day everything was fine, as soon as it gets dark. Buzzzz!!! I tired every method of trouble shooting. Could not locate the source. I got so frustrated I called our local power company. To my surprise instead of hanging up on me, they thanked me for calling calling and said we're sending out a truck right now to find the where the problem is. An hour later my doorbell rings and there's the truck and crew. They came to thank me again and told me by calling I prevented a major blackout in our neighborhood . What happend was a cable company left a junction box open that's connected to the Streetlight . That box had filled with rain water and when the street lights came on the junction box and wires were actually on fire..smoldering..sparking . Had this continued the entire pole and transformer would have blown up and we'd all be in the dark. So finding RFI is no joke! I feel your annoyance and joy when you find the source. Great video!
