Dear Graham, your videos are by any means the best I have seen - along with the ones from IXEG member Jan Vogel. They give such a great insight and you are sharing your knowledge in such a pleasant way! Thank you so much, and keep posting ,-) Bassy regards Benjamin
Thanks very much Benjamin, I'm trying to make the videos as much about flying the sim as possible. It's a superb study level sim and while clicking all the switches in the right order is important the best bit of this sim is one can use procedures to fly the aircraft in a similar manner to real life.
Hi Graham, this is a really great series. I found your videos via Marshall Arbitman who also produces some really good flight sim videos. I like the way that you are taking into account the single pilot nature of flight sim'ing and think that your videos are spot on for commentary , content and length. If I could suggest future content it would be for missed approaches and go arounds. However, I think that anything that you can think of can only add to the experience. Thanks again and please keep producing them.
Hiya, Doing a warmup session from good ole EGPK to somewhere down south while the boss sorts us breakfast hehe Then i'll get cracking on this i swear :-) Brilliant vid yet again Just keep em comin ! Have Fun Tony ps : I was working putting heavy pre-treatment plants and powder coating plants up at (spl?) Nicoll McKay (late 90's) On the occasions we have to put ground to air ducts up, we used to watch i think it was virgin doing touch n goes, someone told us that a takeoff cost 10k and as long as no complete stoppage they could touch n go all day (no idea how true that was) That sure was amazing as the planes came right by the factory, it was then i realised just how big the big planes are lol, and the noise was awesome, it looked like they flew figure of eight loops, then again with working and slyly watching i could be wrong
Thanks Tony, I know Monkton very well having grown up on the Ayrshire coast. Repeated touch and goes could cause tyre temperature issues, but probably not an issue in the west coast climate. Those figure eights you mention, it's quite common to fly one circuit left hand, the next right hand just to avoid making noise over the same houses all day long. In a 747 I'd guess 2-3 tonnes of fuel for a circuit.
A Cessna 152, I used to fly a 182 and a Piper but I stopped during 15 years and started up all over again since a few months, should get my licence back shortly
Thanks Alistair. I grew up not far from Prestwick, and nearly ended up working at BAe / Jetstream Aircraft after leaving school, but decided on another career path.
Loving your videos tremendously and will watch them all. One small request however if it's not too much of a bother. Is it possible to turn up the aircraft sounds just a touch if it doesn't interfere with what you are demonstrating. Id love to hear engine sounds a little more if possible. Thanks for what you are doing for us simmers.
I don't know if the 737 is capable of operating into Paro. I know Druk Air have operated the BAe 146/RJ prior to moving to the Airbus, and the A319s they have are fitted with the more powerful A320 or A321 engines. That being said I'll take a look and if it's possible to operate semi-realistically then I may be able to do something.
I've spent a couple of hours flying around Paro with the 737, bit I've found the performance is a bit too marginal so I probably won't make a video at this point, at least not with the 737-300. However, if you want to go ahead and try it:- In X-Plane I've been departing Flaps 5 and Flaps 15, increase V2 by 10 kts over the QRH value to allow 30 degree bank angle and weights to give a max V2 of 140 knots. For the circling turns 9500ft is possible and 10000ft slightly more comfortable. Gear Down, Flaps 15 speed 150, or Flaps 20 speed 140. Again 140 is more comfortable due to the turn radius. Check out the diagrams linked in the following page: www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/aero_23/737-700Bhutan_story.html specifically: www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/aero_23/737-700Bhutan_fig2.html I'd recommend flying this pattern at 10000 ft, Gear down, Flaps 15, Speed 150, with the AP in and HDG mode for a few laps to get comfortable with the turning points in the valley. Some more background performance information: www.flightsafety.org/asw/apr08/asw_apr08_p22-26.pdf?dl=1 Hope this helps!
Thanks a lot Captain for your efforts to my request.I tried the take off with flaps15 and without engaging A/T N191%.Did a hand flying up to 19000ft with visual on terrain. But not being a professional in aviation,I can not do a test flight as you performed in EGPK base training video.I did that flight VQPR-VECC.Requesting you to do a video with A319 aerosoft in Prepar3d,if you are using that simulator.Once again salute you sir for your time to share the information
Sir I have a serious issue regarding Microsoft flight simulator I can't reached to the destination. when I reach then the runway have missed again I contact the ATC but every time WRONG headings from ATC what should I do any solution.
Thanks for getting in touch. I'm afraid I don't use the MSFS ATC, but from memory you need to have flight route loaded for it to work. Could you possibly create a video of the problem you have and I could take a look?

Heya,
The left/right hand circuits would of made me think a figure of eight then lol
Thanks
Tony
Very interesting video for a real life PPL, flying the 737 in the sim, thank You for taking the time to share this experience and knowledge.
Thanks Daniel, what sort of aircraft are you flying at the moment?
A Cessna 152, I used to fly a 182 and a Piper but I stopped during 15 years and started up all over again since a few months, should get my licence back shortly
Prestwick is my go-to airport for training so I'm quite familiar with it. Really useful video!

Excellent stuff. Making notes...
I'm from ayrshire! Amazing to see
Excellent video very informative, you make it look real easy
Thanks John, this model really rewards a few hours spent learning and practicing! I'm glad you found it informative.
Very much informative. Can you please do a video tutorial on PARO approach, landing and take off with 737-300 IXEG?

Another great video, I hope this is a series start?
Very nicely done.
Thanks very much. I've been watching your videos also, but I've been avoiding the FF 767 videos as I fear I would end up buying it!
I'm looking forward to trying the IXEG 737. X-Plane needs quality aircraft to get the market penetration it deserves.
