That will be a nice surprise when you see them flowering. We've not grown any from seed for years. The last time Andrew bought me some for a birthday and one of them was Geranium pyrenaicum 'Summer Snow'. It self seeded everywhere so had it all over the garden after that! Take care
@@MadAboutGardening That's the best bit, not knowing what we'll get! I just looked up Summer Snow, very pretty even for a bit of a thug! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Geraniums are great aren't they? So easy to look after. Like you, I'd have more if I had a bigger garden. I'm looking forward to watching Gardeners' World this evening as it's from Tatton Park. Must remember that it's on earlier than usual. Hope you had a great time there. Have a lovely weekend. xxx
They are one of our favourite plant groups but we don't have as many here as we grew in our previous garden which is something I'm working on. We're going to Tatton tomorrow as we've been working since it opened. It was great to work on another garden. Being behind the scenes it's amazing to see how it all comes together and just how many people are involoved creating the whole show. We had better weather on the build than last year. There are some snippets in a couple of youtube short videos that we put on here showing some of the garden if you haven't seen them. There are 6 different mini gardens so lots of choice to enjoy. Enjoy GW and take care. Have a great weekend too. Xxxx
@@MadAboutGardening Enjoyed Gardeners' World and your short videos of Tatton. It's good that your gardening skills are appreciated and doing a show garden must be so exciting. Well done and I hope you both have a great and more relaxed day at Tatton tomorrow. Make sure you come home with a car full of plants! xxx
@wendybartlett6717 We watched it prior to going on Saturday morning and enjoyed it. Loved the section on Arley hall too. Thanks for watching the shorts, we have a proper video to come of the show footage we took. It was one of my ambitions growing up to work on a show garden and I've been lucky to have done it 3 times so far so I'm thrilled. We are back this week to pull the garden down, which is a shame but has to be done. We didn't find that much to buy and each stand seemed to be selling similar plants. We came home with a lavender erigeron karvinskianus called Lander lady and another eryngium called Lapis Blue. We came home via Arley hall nursery and then the car was full! Have a good week and take care xxx
I like my geraniums so much and they blooms here for many years..my first one was "Tiny Monster".Wargrave pink,Endressii,Czakor,Patricia,Max Frei are the pink varieties and Sabani Blue,Rozanne,Brookside are the blue varieties. In the woodland border grows "Geranium phaeum Joseph Green" in a beautiful dark red...I feed them in spring/after summer pruning and give them a drink at hot summerdays.I wish you a nice weekend
You have a good collection there 😀. We've grown 'Tiny Monster' before and have some of the others you also have in our garden here. We also like 'Orion' which is a tall blue geranium and flowers for a long time. Hope you have a nice weekend too.
I have about 5 geranium plants (all the same) that were from cuttings from my mother in law but don't know what they are (probably rozanne or brookside or something like that). But the one I am most pleased with is Cloud Nine. I saw a photo somewhere but it was hard to find but last year I got one at Scone Palace garden fair. This year it has been amazing. About 70 cm tall with the most gorgeous sky blue ruffled flowers. I would recommend. Not sure if this can be cut back to reflower? Although it is still flowering just now.
Wow, I've heard of Cloud Nine but haven't grown it. It has lovely flowers and is quite unique. It's great to get the taller varieties that can mingle in the middle of the border as geraniums always look great no matter which plants they are next to. You could always try giving it a cut back after flowering, you won't be loosing anything and will be gaining fresh foliage at the very least. Happy gardening Sharon.
Love geraniums! I sowed a mix of geranium seeds earlier in the year and they're growing well - looking forward to see what kind I get!
