The fact that their romance develops more subtly and naturally instead of through brute force was an excellent choice by the writers. Too many relationships in films feel fabricated for the sake of plot convenience, but this movie thankfully doesn’t fall prey to this trope.
It’s like Duckman. Duckman and Bernice. Mr Wolf and Diane Foxington have far more SEXUAL Tension and Mutual Attraction then actual romance. It’s not subtle per say as it is, “Personalities bouncing off each other”. Pure Sexual Tension. Like you meet someone you so attracted to, you just want to have a moment alone with them to the point where you rip each other’s clothes off and hop in Bed with each other.
The fact that this movie ends on us deciding what’s going to become of them is incredibly refreshing. We need more movies that have something like that.
Those are the worst kinds of endings, I mean, if you like them that's fine, but why take us on this long journey of you're just gonna make us decide the ending?

I haven't seen anybody mention the color choice at 2:20, specifically the clothing. With Diane's Crimson Paw jumpsuit and fox-fur, and Wolf's fur and prison jumpsuit, they're wearing each other's colors (orange and grey respectively) it provides a cute yin-yang effect showing how they balance each other out and work together!
Fun fact: Diane is Wolf's love interest in the book series. Edit: in the book series, Diane is actually "Agent Ellen" or something like that. Also, thanks for the 2.2k likes.
I appreciate the writers for making their chemistry well known, but choosing not to act on it and have a predictable kiss scene. They flirted, they danced, they teamed up, but they didn't kiss and yet the chemistry is still there. I love this movie so freaking much!
I don't know about the English version, but in the Spanish version, at the moment they went to Diane's house, before leaving, there was a dialogue where they said "Better wash your underpants because you might need them later" which has been translated to "Clean up a bit, maybe there's Snu Snu"

I loved that the movie didn't end with them being a couple yet, because they don't know each other too well or long at that point. Don't get me wrong, they obviously like each other and have good chemistry, but it still makes more sense for them to take a bit more time to see if they really fit together as a couple or rather just as friends (though I doubt the latter), especially after all the shenanigans that happened. It's just not a good environment to build a good relationship.
i truly love their dynamic and yeah, the fact too that the writers imply that they most likely truly like each other but doesn't show it at the end. and even though i've seen comments talking about being against wolf and diane together because, well, they are different animals after all, the love dynamic in this movie and the way it was handled makes this whole relationship thing more unique and adds to the whole movie uniqueness too. in general, the whole movie was well planned
I also appreciate that the time was also balanced so they could still develop the other characters. They could have easily made a whole movie with just these two, but the last act made perfectly clear that Wolf can balance and prioritise his friendships with the other Bad Guys AND Diane perfectly (something that's almost certainly important for Snake especially), which means hopefully we won't have a Furious Five situation where it's only the main character and love interest with the rest of the group forgotten about next movie.

I must say their interractions are one of the best parts of the movie. The building trust between Wolf and Diane is wholesome, both are sassy, snarky, confident, tricky and overall trustworthy seeing how both were criminal masterminds, they even think equally and that just makes it more cute! And I really loved how Diane was very comprensive with Wolf as she was a thief too and understood his conflict, along that Wolf saw Diane as his inspiration into see the good side. Like she trusting Wolf with the Zimpengo diamond and rescuing him and his team, or he giving Diane his team's secret hideout to return everything and save her name at the end. Also, the dance scene only elevated the ship radar to a big "They are so wholesome that they must be together."
Much like Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, the chemistry between these two just can't be denied. It's just a real shame that these two didn't have their "Bad Romance". I mean, the chemistry is right there...but nothing was done with it. I mean, Wolf's could of had an obvious crush on both Diane and The Crimson Paw. A thing that could of helped out with their chemistry was a flirtatious relationship Diane and Wolf had during her times as The Crimson Paw - such as winks and kiss blowing. Heck, why not have Wolf's gang tease him about his crush over them?
Maybe it might be a slight tease when Wolf said he was gonna turn on his charm offensive, and Shark remarked "Oh, yeah - the FULL Clooney." (Not to mention both Shark and Snake smiled, knowing that Wolf was gonna do his best tactic at charming Diane)
I prefer to think that Wolf have Respect for the Crimson Paw since no one knows who the Crimson Paw is, not even the Gender, Snake mistakenly assumed that the Crimson Paw is a Male at the beginning of the Movie, anyway, point being, at first he Respect Diane and maybe sooner if not later, developed a strong romantic feeling for her especially since now he spends more time with her and now he knew that Diane and the Crimson Paw is the same person.
How Wolf slowly, but surely fell in love with Diane: 1. Was curious/interested when he saw her on the news. 2. Was smitten when they first interacted with each other by the swan sculpture and arrest scene. 3. Was motivated by her words after their lil’ argument. 4. Had fallen for her at the Gala as they danced. He even gave her ring back in a cute and indirect proposal kinda way (it was confirmed he fell in love with her at the Gala). 5. Was heartbroken when he realized she saw him snap and attempt to murder Marmalade. 6. Assuring her he’d do anything for her as he said he’d help her stop Marmalade’s evil plan. 7. Proved to her how good he can be to not only her, but for the world. Which is one thing she really wanted for him. They’ll more or likely become a couple in the sequel just like in the comics since she was his love interest in this one.
One really cute detail is how Diane goes from snobby professional to excited little girl after she realises Wolf genuinely likes her. There's no International League of Heroes in this take yet, and the creators stated Diane turned good alone with no friends or support. All her glamour and socialising is in her profession (look at that lonely grim bungalow and two seat car, the only flashy part about her personal life is her secret lair). Wolf is likely her first real playmate who knows and accepts the real her (right down to a moment of her taking him to her house and showing off all her coolest toys XD). And she got four more playmates through Wolf too. Diane gave Wolf moral support, Wolf gave Diane companionship.
Her getting all Skippy and bubbly when she gets into her underground hideout and gets to show Wolf all her cool stuff has my heart growing three sizes. She is the cutest thing I've ever seen it hurts.
everyone has a little bit of furry in them.. the entire human species actually counts as 'furry' seeing as how an furry is an anthropomorphic animal with human attributes
I liked the fact that this Zimpango diamond had a lot of focus and in the end it played its part by exposing the antagonist. The so-called technique in literature "Chekhov's gun" is a subject in the plot that will definitely play its role.
Also for the fact that they are *technically* falsely imprisoned. Aside for the speeding and stuff like that, all their prior crimes were pardoned. They were being arrested for stealing the meteorite which was quickly confirmed that they didn’t do. Seeing as how speeding isn’t an offense that sends someone to prison, they should be completely free (including the fact that a jury would also probably find them innocent or if they found them guilty would probably punish them with community service!)
I noticed that it wasn't the professor who changed Wolf in the heart but his small interactions with her led him to take the "Good Guy" thing seriously, reflecting on his inner problems and sharing their thoughts and feelings honestly. In the end, he couldn't steal because he looked at her and she was happy with the change and how far he got, rooting for him to be himself on the right side and how it is for him and no one else. After accusing them he rushed to give everything back to prove to her he is innocent. The professor's plan didn't work because Wolf was not inspired by him it is true he created a conflict for him on the inside but the one who pushed him towards the right path was Diane.
Also because of it, Wolf took the 'goodness' to far greater levels than Marmalade had planned. He hoped he'd just ditch his friends, and his and Diane's friendship would be meaningless after the frameup but Wolf used the epithany to redeem his friends instead and made a gesture to Diane that made clear he was the real article and their bond was real, ensuring a rescue. Wolf basically played chessmaster, but to help them rather than use them as pawns like Marmalade did. The funny thing is how Marmalade is like a dark mirror of Wolf and Diane, a super arrogant thief who thinks he's invincible just like they did at the start of the film. There's implications the both of them would have bragged their way into getting caught out eventually (or alternately Marmalade would have killed them both as he almost did), but they bonded and humbled before it was too late, and both of them helped out when the other was finally getting a taste of vulnerability. Marmalade on the other hand never humbled or learned to appreciate other people's character strengths and loyalty, as shown with Snake, so no one had his back as he got his ass thrown in jail.
It’s even better when you listen to the commentary on the Blu Ray and at around the 52 minute mark one of the writers says Wolf is in fact developing a crush on her. So it’s basically confirmed It’s during the dance scene as well! 😍
I also love how they don’t make it so that Wolf is an idiot (as in intellect) as soon as he’s with Diane to make her seem cooler, because that trope (when taken to the extreme) has always bothered me. They seem very evenly matched
Something to notice about how their chemistry is established here. Is the subtext of their scenes is conveyed largely through body language. It's a good instinct since body language often speaks what we are truly thinking/feeling without us meaning too. That subtext that is conveyed is done very cleverly. It starts with them both being unsure but playful, and evolves into full blown giddy attraction.
I love how Diane Foxington and Mr. Wolf’s relationship is actually romantic in The Bad Guys (2022) unlike Nick Wilde and Judy Hopp’s as of now in the Zooptoia franchise.
I have a question. How do males and females bond with each other? I don't see how men and women can bond (especially romantically) with each other. Men and women think very differently from each other. It seems like it's impossible for men and women to emotionally connect with each other. I heard that gay and lesbian couples are happier than straight couples are, and I heard that gay and lesbian relationships are healthier than straight relationships are. The more similar you are to someone, the more easier it is to bond and connect with them. People of the same sex/gender understand each other more easily, and there are no inbuilt societal power imbalances as there are between opposite-sex couples. Gay and lesbian couples understand each other better than straight couples do (due to them being the same gender as each other). I heard that most straight couples are not happy being together, and I heard that people who are straight are much happier and much better off being single than they are being in a romantic relationship.

One really cute detail is how Diane goes from snobby professional to excited little girl after she realises Wolf genuinely likes her. There's no International League of Heroes in this take yet, and the creators stated Diane turned good alone with no friends or support. All her glamour and socialising is in her profession (look at that lonely grim bungalow and two seat car, the only flashy part about her personal life is her secret lair). Wolf is likely her first real playmate who knows and accepts the real her (right down to a moment of her taking him to her house and showing off all her coolest toys XD). And she got four more playmates through Wolf too. Diane gave Wolf moral support, Wolf gave Diane companionship.
Diane’s eyebrow piercing is so subtle it took forever for me to see it but it’s just the perfect addition to everything else

Also for the fact that they are *technically* falsely imprisoned. Aside for the speeding and stuff like that, all their prior crimes were pardoned. They were being arrested for stealing the meteorite which was quickly confirmed that they didn’t do. Seeing as how speeding isn’t an offense that sends someone to prison, they should be completely free (including the fact that a jury would also probably find them innocent or if they found them guilty would probably punish them with community service!)
They do become a couple in the novels, so yeah no wonder they have so much chemistry in the film
I do think if they do a sequel or miniseries they’ll further develop their relationship.

These two are literally everything for me.
I noticed that it wasn't the professor who changed Wolf in the heart but his small interactions with her led him to take the "Good Guy" thing seriously, reflecting on his inner problems and sharing their thoughts and feelings honestly.
In the end, he couldn't steal because he looked at her and she was happy with the change and how far he got, rooting for him to be himself on the right side and how it is for him and no one else. After accusing them he rushed to give everything back to prove to her he is innocent.
The professor's plan didn't work because Wolf was not inspired by him it is true he created a conflict for him on the inside but the one who pushed him towards the right path was Diane.
Also because of it, Wolf took the 'goodness' to far greater levels than Marmalade had planned. He hoped he'd just ditch his friends, and his and Diane's friendship would be meaningless after the frameup but Wolf used the epithany to redeem his friends instead and made a gesture to Diane that made clear he was the real article and their bond was real, ensuring a rescue. Wolf basically played chessmaster, but to help them rather than use them as pawns like Marmalade did.
The funny thing is how Marmalade is like a dark mirror of Wolf and Diane, a super arrogant thief who thinks he's invincible just like they did at the start of the film. There's implications the both of them would have bragged their way into getting caught out eventually (or alternately Marmalade would have killed them both as he almost did), but they bonded and humbled before it was too late, and both of them helped out when the other was finally getting a taste of vulnerability. Marmalade on the other hand never humbled or learned to appreciate other people's character strengths and loyalty, as shown with Snake, so no one had his back as he got his ass thrown in jail.
I haven’t been this invested in a romance in a long time. The natural chemistry is palpable and so well written.

Something to notice about how their chemistry is established here. Is the subtext of their scenes is conveyed largely through body language. It's a good instinct since body language often speaks what we are truly thinking/feeling without us meaning too. That subtext that is conveyed is done very cleverly. It starts with them both being unsure but playful, and evolves into full blown giddy attraction.
If there is ever gonna be another bad guys movie I want it to be about the big bad wolf and Diane falling in love!!!
