    There's something serene about working in snow, but so many here in Georgia underestimate the black ice that we tend to get heavily.❄ We got a good dusting here in certain areas yesterday morning. On my way to the landfill, I managed to get a view of it. The Autocar is sounding mean as always.😎💪 So true too about what we have to watch out for, I would always tell new drivers the same thing. Thanks for sharing and the shoutout brother. Stay warm and safe up there!

      @@hopperhustle I loved the front load job and still want to be apart of the waste industry but after 2 months I couldn’t adjust to the extremely long hours at the company i was working at,12-15 hrs, Monday to Saturday. Like most I’m a family guy and not seeing them everyday really started to effect us. I also own a business so that was out the window too. I’m thinking about adding dumpster rentals (10, 15 & 20 yarders) as a service I offer to customers in my area. All in all I have a new found respect for you and all the other men and women that do this day in and day out,

      @@crazyman1395 nothing but respect for giving it a shot. It’s definitely not for everyone. I think for alot of us that do it full time it just gets in your blood. Do what’s best for you and your family tho, enjoy that life ! And best of luck to you on your own business too.

    Great video also thanks for the shout out again it’s been hectic for me the last two weeks had truck problems the Pete’s been down for two weeks finally got it back in real bad weather the Mac does not like cold weather so I have to spend 10 minutes at each stops just to get the hydraulics to work on top of that we had freezing rain this week all our roads were sheets of ice I normally go out in any kind of weather but I draw the line on ice so stay safe out there man and thanks again

    Just subscribed to your channel love the front loader action. I drive a side loader, unfortunately we don’t have any front loaders due to just taking care of residential streets while another mega company has all our commercial stops. I would love to learn how to drive a front loader.
    Love the content hope you keep it up! Great work.

      Thanks so much for subscribing! I started out in residential, drove a side load for about 6 months and did enjoy it. Hope you get an opening to try out front load someday ! Not sure how your place works but the way I got into it was asking to ride along on a Saturday route 👍

    What does your schedule look like start time to finish and how many days per week? Thanks

    • @hopperhustle
      @hopperhustle  2 роки тому

      Start the route at 4am and typically done by noon-1pm. This was at my last company tho, it was smaller. My previous company I was at, I would work 10-12 hours every day - 6 days a week. It just varies by company and how much you want to work. Weekends are available and if you want more hours during the week, outside of doing your route, you can always offer to help when you finish your route.

    Hey what do you think of doing this vs ASL? In my area I have two job offers one for front load at a smaller local company but still a 200 truck fleet and one doing residential asl with waste management. The front load position has a higher starting pay. Do you enjoy front load and have you done other lines of business

    • @hopperhustle
      @hopperhustle  2 роки тому +1

      Great question ! I started out slinging trash on the back of a rear load truck. I did not have my CDL yet. The company I was at helped me get it. Afterwards, I took over a rear load route for about 6 months. After that, I moved up to ASL.
      Honestly and personally speaking, if you’re new to trash in general, it is best to start in residential. Especially an ASL truck. This is because the cab-over truck chassis are similar, if not identical depending on what kind of fleet the company has, to the frontload trucks. There is an a big time adjustment getting used to that style truck from a standard cab. Running an ASL gets you more comfortable running one of these types of trucks, with a compacting body, while keeping you in controlled areas.
      Running commercial is always a risky thing to put someone in that has never done ANY kind of work in refuse. You’re put in a lot of positions that are very dangerous from blind backing, overloaded cans, low wires & obstacles, tight fits, etc. And this is true for any truck but I’ve found it to be more true in a commercial frontload. This isn’t to scare you off of it, some people naturally pick it up, but it’s typically a challenge to start from. I’m speaking for myself as well. Also, expect to work a lot of hours running in frontload more so than residential. If you want more time at home with family - consider resi. If you want to go balls out and make some money - consider frontload 🦾
      I hope this helped answer you’re question ! Sorry for the novel. Let me know what you decide and be safe out there -
      PS: WM has EXTREMELY strict safety regulations and live cameras in their trucks. But, the benefits are outstanding and pay is as well. So just weigh those options when you consider WM and the mom & pop place. Good luck !

      @@hopperhustle thanks so much for the info. I do not think I'd be able to adjust and get used to the strict policies at WM I have worked at a place like that and it drove me crazy thinking my job was at risk no matter how long I had been there. I think I'll take the front load one at the small company and just take my time- back slow and they told me they'd train me as long as I need to until I'm confident.

      Take the frontload job my friend ! Nothing about the job itself is overly complex, it’s your surroundings you have to be mindful of. Keep your head on a swivel, take your time, and have fun 🦾

    is it more dangerous to do the job in the winter

    • @hopperhustle
      @hopperhustle  2 роки тому

      For sure and for many reasons. Ice will make wires hang lower, snow makes pull-out cans almost impossible, extreme cold will cause mechanical issues with the truck, etc. It’s a whole different experience doing this job in the winter ! It will definitely make or break you.

      Hiring for roll off constantly, will train. Front load just as needed. Right now we are staffed up on that end. WM and Republic are the most prominent companies here, no big surprise there.
