I'm a female and also a feminist and what that means is not feminazi but rather the belief that all genders should be treated equally. That's exactly what should be happening here, lets be 100% honest, which female rapper is really making big waves and getting huge airplay, topping charts, getting over 100k plays on their soundcloud with RECENT tracks....I can't think of any. You can't shout out that the industry is unfair coz you're a chick and then use that same excuse to try and get special treatment. I'm glad that DJ Switch made this the public's choice coz ya'll seriously can't blame him for shit. Twitter picked those people, I don't know who this female artist he is referring to is but if she's crying about not getting picked then that means that the public doesn't look at you in that light. Changing that perception should be your motivation. I'm big into hip-hop and am all about female empowerment but this situation is just whack.

Even looking at how DJ Switch addresses the whole thing, very respectful and refers to her as a "rapper". Not a "female rapper" or "femcee" just a "rapper". Him just speaking in this manner should show that he is not gender biased, DJ Switch kept it 100

Here's another bra burner going off topic as usual. theres nothing wrong to refer to a woman as a female rapper, being called a female isnt an insult at all. You speak of equality when a man and women were made to be different so they can compliment each other, not compete. If your a realist then you know that theres certain things that women are better than men at and theres certain things men are better than women at. We're equal as human beings but either than that, a man and woman will never ever be equal.

+Lehlohonolo Mokotedi Do people make a point of pointing it out when a rapper is male? nope. Then the same shouldn't happen for females. The fact that you want to point that out makes it SEEM like something is wrong. Of course being a female isn't an insult dumbass but when you want to differentiate people when there isn't a need to is when it starts becoming problematic. Thank you for stating the obvious about women being better at certain things and men being better at certain things. Where exactly does being a man or woman come in when it comes to being a better rapper. Guess what, IT DOESN'T hence why the differentiation is problematic and unnecessary, because it's such a male dominated industry. You're not a realist man, you're just fronting as one.

Boss of Smiles like i said before "typical bra burning". in reality which is a place you seem to visit now and then, men started rap and have always been the ones pushing the envelope when it comes to innovating on it, no one has stopped any female rappers from taking hip hop and doing different things with it. the question is, which female rappers have come out and done anything that hasnt been done before. Your saying men and women should compete on the same level...which female MC would you put up against Kendrick lamar, AB Soul,Earl sweatshirt, Big Krit(and dont just choose any female rappers, they have to be dropping sound on the same level). Even locally, besides the trap genre which is more about riding the beat than lyrical content, who do you get to compare to Krook'd the Warmonga, Ben sharpa, hymphatic thabz...?
