Became the owner of a 900CB when I paid for the chev S-10 is was loaded in for $100.00. Have 7. miles on the bike post installed carb rail. Carbs, seat, battery were all missing. Still rather limping around. Carbs came from a wrecked, scrap bike for $5.00. Fabricated intake runners, dual laminated rubber. Rear face of each carb to machined brass plate, subsequent forward steel strut of about 1 inch by 3.16th right, aluminum stock similar dimension left. 2 x5 shift pattern still a bit of mystery. Bike was clearly protected entire to it's life. Little rust. Need your channel to describe interesting build points. Thanks for the notes on model. M.
Wow that's awesome! And I'm glad to hear that someone got a little something out of a video! Many thanks for checking out the videos and leaving a comment. Cheers!
Super excited to see where this build goes! I have a 80 CB900 that I’m debating just going over and reconditioning so watching you kind of dig into things is giving me sort of an idea what I’m in for haha
Hey man... running or not if the whole bike is there, then it can be brought back to life. Thanks for the comment and views! I'm in the middle of shooting video of the carbs now.... these things are seriously bad.
@@teninchrichard4016 Right on! Hope it helps with some ideas and possible things to look at and fix! I'll be getting back into this project soon so thanks for sub'n and stay tuned!
Buying a 1981 Cb900 tomorrow .Suppose to run only needs front brakes and battery. But you and I know that's not all it needs because it's outside. But next week 1984 Sabre v65 engine coming.Oh it only needed TLC.Yea like 90% of the bike LOL(ENGINE)
That's the fun of these old bikes man! I like when someone says to me "Yeah it ran last year when I parked it!". Meanwhile I'm thinking...."Why on earth did you just park and leave a perfectly running motorcycle?"
@@MotoMedic I bought a 83 Goldwing a few years back that was being used to store paint in the buckets.Yes Ive practically touched every bolt on it she purrrrs today. Those harley mufflers sound great. But Im not trying to harleyfy it.LOL
@@halpayne612 You should throw a video up with a clean sound clip of that exhaust. I'm sure some folks would love to see and hear it! Myself included :D
Appreciate this project! Please keep them coming. I am presently building an ‘82 CB900C also... it came in good working order, so most work hereinafter will be cosmetics, performance, and maintenance. As such, very much looking forward to future vids on this project. One thing in particular will be suspension. The particularly short swing-arm/shaft on this bike limits length of rear shocks, and I would be curious to find out an accurate, safe, functional MAXIMUM rear shock length that can be run, and accordingly, some reasonable options for the forks... Keep’m comin’!
Glad you like the series so far! Post some videos of the progress of yours! I'll definitely be checking it out... As for suspension I was actually chatting with my dad today about options for the rear end. Most modern swingarms are far too long to make any conversions and I've been toying with the idea of removing the 2 speed final drive and shaft and con erting it to a chain drive... With a possible single sided swingarm... That'll take a lot of fabricating though! But I'll be able to stuff a mono shock on it if I do it right. Or do it at all! Haha
Wire wheel on a drill for the heavy stuff, and final cleaning with a rag and brake cleaner. And LOTS of elbow grease! Don't go too hard on the wire wheel though...
Oh boy, circlips. I always had the fear of dropping one into the engine but thankfully the only place they ever went was in my hand or flying to the other end of the pits
Hi moto medic I just subscribed very nice videos I watched some and do like the way you explain your knowledge thanks for taking your time doing it, hey by the way I have this question ¿the 1981 cb900c muffler are compatible with the 1981 cb650c ???
Thank you for subscribing Franco! As far as I recall, I think the 750, 900, and 1100 are the same, but not for the 650 and smaller. Might see if a 550 would work... much closer discplacement so without looking it up I'm thinking that would be a closer match. Hope that helps!
Nice project. Your doing great.

What did you use to clean those pistons? I didn’t think they were gonna be usable until I saw them cleaned up.

Could you tell me where you got the impact tool used on the clutch cover?
It's a Vessel Impact Driver (vessel is the brand on this one). You can find other brands similar also but just Google that and it'll pop up a bunch!
