I remember the day they wed like it was yesterday. It was the day before my grandmothers and I’s birthday (April 30th) we watched it together on TV. She is no longer here on this earth, but it is a very fond memory that I will cherish forever.

Kate's grandfather married into the Lupton family who were "Woollen manufacture's and landed gentry : a political and business dynasty".
Kate's father Michael is also a descendant of Edward III.
***** Her father was one of the Goldsmith's, Carol's brother is the multi millionaire Gary Goldsmith, her grand mother descended from the distinguished 19th century Myer Jewish family, not what I would call a working class family.
There's just something about watching royalty that elevates my presence and sense of dignity. It makes me want to try harder to be more. I feel inspired and happy. You'd think as a woman of humble means, I'd feel envy. But really, not at all :)
It's true. They really are quite appalling aren't they. Here we are in a depression and near economic collapse and they pretend to care while they really don't have a care in the world, other than perhaps assassination, which I'm surprised doesn't happen more often with anyone of power, privilege and political gain. The royals became rich off the pillage of others! I guess I was just in a "mood" that day!

Thing is, that despite popular myth, they aren't as much of a target, a priority as far as being high impact.
That's still surprising but I'm glad. It's not their fault that their ancestors plundered and destroyed villages and towns and took whatever they wanted, including the people into slavery. It's not like they do that anymore. Now they are really just good will ambassadors. Although I guess the Queen still has political input and power.

@@gwenmarie7311 thank you. That is what I have thought from the start. There is so much to be done in this world, there is plenty to go around. It shouldn't be a competition. William has his future set before him and Harry can do as much good. Then add their wives, they could be such a positive influence, do a lot of good, and an example for others. No one is perfect and no one should expect them to be. Stay true to your marriages and family, the media shouldn't make issues to try to sell papers. I disregard the negative BS that I've seen. No time for pettiness. Meghan can being addl attention to causes and that's a good thing. If they can improve the way of life for others so be it. That includes Prince Charles as well.
@Gwen Marie, you are absolutely right. It shouldn't be a Kate-Meghan competition. More importantly than their being "gorgeous" (an incident of birth), both Kate and Meghan seem committed to bringing positive social change to corners that need it. The mental health advocacy that Kate, William and Harry started is superb. It will be interesting to see what projects Meghan takes on, with her having grown up seeing less privilege and understanding needs in that arena--if people are willing to suspend their biases and give her a chance.
Princess Diana saved the Monarchy with her two children, that is just a fact. God bless her for bringing up two wonderful sons. They should erect a monument to Princess Diana.
