I did the same thing to my Chief right after I got him and it really makes a difference! I would also recommend using some acetone to remove the black paint towards the bottom of the chest armor since it's not supposed to be there.
Keep this up! There’s hardly any informative videos on custom painting these guys, and even less that explain the process like you do. Hoping to see more videos from you in the future!
This video is amazing, thanks so much for making it. I Just got this figure and thought it was great, but with what you showed in this video, the figure could look amazing! Never done customizing before, but this video really made me want to try it on my figure
@@Goodberry Hello! I’m already done with the blackwash, and I think it came out great but I was wondering if doing the spray finish was a necessary step? I’m a bit scared of using the wrong finish or messing it up so I would prefer not doing it
Joe, the black wash is amazing, especially bringing out the small details manually but the frosted gloss is something that really shocked me. It looks so good and it convinced me to buy my own master chief and a sweet can of frosted glass. Excited. Thanks man ;)
That was such a sweet tutorial, awesome video. After adding some silver paint do you top coat it a second time or just leave it as is? Also, what kind of top coat do you recommend for bendable rubbery plastic? Like, very rubbery. I need a matt finish but idk what is the right top coat for this type of plastic
@@Quakecon-s9r I haven't used that stuff before. Might want to test it out first. If it's not water or acrylic based, it could eat the plastic and stay sticky.
@@Goodberry hmm I see. the spray can I ordered is labeled as "synthetic lacquer" Do you recommend this one? www.ebay.com/itm/255030629802?epid=23031894283&hash=item3b610295aa:g:RB4AAOSwFJlg11aC
So compared to other figures, McFarlane, marvel legends….why are the joints so gummy on these new Halo figs? I feel like I have Gumby in my hand and it’s really annoying. Any ideas on stiffening up the plastic? The joints gloop and glop around when you try and articulate him. I can watch them bend out of form when I have him posed. Uhgggg so cheaply made, it’s hard to get over.
I am have a couple of doubles of figures, and I am going to try some dry brushing and Black wash. I know I can do it, my problem is I am so anal I will over critic my work and hate it. However it's with a try, I am desperately trying to break my perfectionist attitude, it does serve me well in some aspects of life, but I need to learn to not apply it to everything
Looks like the halo 3 olive green Chief, love it!

Ya know? I knew something didn't look right there but never looked at a picture.
Do not use acetone. Acetone dissolves the ABS plastic the figure is made of.

WOW. I just got my chief and the difference is astronomical!! I'm gonna add blood to my chief.
I've been wanting to do some figure customization for awhile now, I had no idea it was this simple!

Man, I go through and matte finish so many figures. It really makes them pop!
@@Goodberry I hope you dont mind me stealing this method :) I already have my can of frosted glass I was surprised that we have this in poland

Thank you for posting this !
Nice tutorial! The figure looks heaps better at the end. Now Im tempted to try these tricks on my masterchief as well.
Thank you for this. Once again, you've done a perfect job.
Increíble transformación, esos detalles lo hacen único, gran trabajo
Keep doing videos like these.
I will try my best!!!
Were do you get them
Could you show how to paint the helmet? Particular de visor? I'm painting a master chief as well but I can't get that result.

For the rubbery plastic, your best bet might be a modge podge sealer

Ha! Yeah something went weird when I edited the footage and then uploaded it.
Will you custom this figure the same way you did and send it out to me ?
I can. It'll cost you about $70
