I vaguely remember Drunk Elephant years ago saying something along the lines of: if you have a reaction to our products or if they dont work, its because you can't mix them with other brands. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it
They said that because a lot of people were having reactions to their products but they didn't want to take accountability, so they switch the blame to the costumers... FUCK DRUNK ELEPHANT
^^ what they said. never used a single drunk elephant product again after i had a really odd reaction to their protini moisturizer and found out they were trying to blame consumers for having reactions….even a “no product is going to work for everyone” would’ve been a better response than that

It might also have been influenced by the curly hair community. A few years ago there was a huge deva curl scandal, people who exclusively used their products eventually struggled with hair damage and even hair loss and scalp damage, I think there was even a lawsuit at some point.
With the micellar water, it's also really useful for disabled people. Sometimes I can't stand up long enough to wash my face, and I need to save my energy, but I still deserve to feel clean/clean my face. Misellar water is great for that
Been using garnier micellar water for years and never had a problem. It’s cheap and I have a chronic illness so if I had to go stand at a sink I just wouldn’t wash my face a lot of the time to be honest. Even small amounts of vitamin c in my skincare makes me go red but I’m not saying no one else should be using it.
I have a number of allergies, and my skin is pretty reactive, but garnier micellar water works just fine on my skin, which is super, because a lot of low cost, widely available skin care products are terrible for me. There’s never going to be a product that is perfect for everyone - even tap water in certain parts of the country will irritate my skin!
That comedogenic scale is so absurd! I've struggled with cystic acne and missed out on so many amazing products that I have since found very helpful for reducing redness and inflammation due to the "comedogenic" label. While others claiming to be "non comedogenic" made me break out so much worse. Even professional derms would steer me in the wrong direction based on that scale.
Saaaaaame. Especially since my acne is actually triggered by hyper-keratinized skin that isn't exfoliating properly because it's too dry and blocks the pore. I avoided rich moisturizers for years based on the "scale" and my dry cheek skin kept on forming comedones, which then became hormonal cysts once a month when my oil production ramped up. I slather my face twice a day in cetaphil moisturizing cream now (technically a body moisturizer!) and I'm acne free.
@samanthariley6822 How did you find out what worked for you?! I am in that position and idk where to even begin with products. Everything suggested or prescribed by the derm really doesn’t do anything :(
@@liz3169 I started doing research and experimenting on my own. I started by finding a good cleanser, then slowly added in other steps. Being sure to take time after each addition to see how my skin reacted. Especially if I introduced an active of any kind. It's time consuming, and there will be times when breakouts happen, but if you're diligent the end result will be a routine that is custom made for you, by you.
The comedogenic thing. Wait till they find out I slug with CeraVe Healing Ointment every, single, day. Not a pimple in sight. The amount of misinformation on TikTok (And other social media, but it's worst on TikTok) is truly concerning.
Thats because the healing ointment and other ointments like vaseline petroleum jelly are non comedogenic. Applying it is like applying a whole walled layer that doesn’t absorb in the skin.
@wyltedleaves ive been using vaseline on my whole face and neck for years esp a few times a months since starting tretnoin and it really helped. I even have it on right now and it really sky rocketed my skin to another level. I have never had any problems of clogged pores by petroleum jelly at all. There must be another product that you apply that does that because vaseline is non comedogenicz
I also love how the TicTok slugging trend started off with them telling you to do it everyday/ every other day. Not to mention I've also met women all my life who only use Vaseline or Beef Tallow, with perfect and beautiful skin... wild!
Seems like TikTok is always a couple years behind UA-cam with information. Maybe it's partially due to the average age of viewers and creators on the platforms (i.e. people on UA-cam being older and have already figured out the things younger people on TikTok are now learning)? 🤷♀️
I think also because TikTok has a lower barrier to entry re: content creation - it's right there on their phone, everyone's got one, and generally used on the fly. Whereas UA-cam videos generally tends toward being more produced, having a decent camera/room/etc.
Yes!!! I agree... these gen z tiktokers who think they invented everything from dnb to 90s fashion to makeup trends. Uhm no kids. It's all derivative. Please try to invent at least one new thing, every generation before you has.
Shout out to Lab Muffin. I love her channel. I wash off my micellar water but I thought I was supposed to. 🤦🏾♀️ As for the “studies” unless the trials are on 100’s-1000’s of humans, aged 18-70, male and female in multiple countries, you can’t really say what will happen to you when you use a product. What if that cosmetic “study” was in 10 American men, ages 18-27? Or 60 women in Japan ages 40-70? On your face or body…..🤷🏾♀️
What would our skin without you, James? Thank you for telling us about the comedogenic bullspit. I’m now learning a lot of things people told me would be bad for me my whole life were actually things I desperately needed…… like moisturizer lmaooooo. Everyone in the 2000’s told me moisturizing my acne would make it worse…. 😭💀
I was so confused like I'm pretty sure I subcribed to this UA-camr yesterday but something is different? Turns out it was his twin 🙈 **subbed here too now**
Same. It does HELP- but no, it doesn’t clear it. My personal frustration is that people think some people have acne cause they don’t/can’t shower twice a day like they do…. Like people don’t have skin conditions that make them need to space their showers out so they don’t turn into a giant flaky human-cracker. Dryness can also cause acne, so the logic they have is flawed.
@@JustAFace_InTheCrowd Yep sometimes changing from sugary drinks to water helps because you’re reducing inflammation in the body and the bacteria that feed off sugars secreted via the skin don’t have as much to eat and your skin calms down. A lot of fighting acne is reducing or stopping the skin infection first. Sometimes diet can help with that, but not as much as a doctor/dermatologist and good meds.
Well, yes, but I'm not annoyed with the people. Cause they can get really desperate. My ex wouldn't even take off his tshirt in front of me, cause he had bad back acne and was terribly ashamed. Once I found out, I made him see a derm and tend to him. It got a lot better. But many people don't have access to treatment. So I'm mainly upset with companies selling snake oil.
I have *very* oily sensitive skin, and the only moisturiser that doesn't break me out is the CeraVe Moisturising Lotion "For dry and very dry skin". Unfortunately, it truly is a case of trial and error to figure out what your skin specifically does and doesn't like.
The information you’re saying is absolutely not redundant- even mainly consuming content on yt, I actually didn’t know a lot of things you brought up. The distinction of comedogenic vs non comedogenic and what micellar water’s key benefit are all new to me! Please keep doing stuff like this you’re amazinggg
I absolutely love falling asleep listening to him! Best asmr voice ever. Then I go back and watch the video again during the day to make sure I hear whatever I missed the first time and note down the new products I want to try 😊😋
Omg thank you for specifically mentioning mineral oil. I totally still thought it was bad for your skin and have been stunned by how many products use it as one of the main ingredients. It has definitely stopped me from buying a lot of products but now I'm definitely going to have to experiment more!
I’m so glad you mentioned the comedogenic scale bc I get obsessed over checking for pore clogging ingredients and have thrown away so much skincare bc of it
We live in fear so long and turns out it's an ingredient or two that we're actually sensitive to. And sometimes if it's listed low enough we won't respond to it. It's so screwed up and we live like this for so long... And then turns out all that science is total crap and we could be living it up. But hey, you're free now. Sort of. The best way to keep track is keep a list of ingredients you notice in certain products that you have a reaction to. That's how I figured out my problems. And... here's the actual bad part? Every few years you have to go over it because your body will change and your reaction will get stronger or weaker. GO FORTH AND LIVE YOUR BEAUTY DREAMS, GORGEOUS.
Animal testing for cosmetic products is really strange. At this point we know “don’t put lead in your makeup” and things like that. No one is making a cosmetic product with a new/unusual enough compound to warrant that kind of testing.
I was really hoping James would make at least some sort of mention about the cruelty so I was a little disappointed since I know he donates to dog charities and what not 😢
0:37 I think the first time I heard this first from a hairdresser, because there was no line that had everything I needed to care for and style my (natural textured) hair. I think it traveled from haircare.
I have very sensitive skin, but it works fine for me. Given, I've always washed it off. With my skin type, I never trusted the "you can leave it on" thing. I really only use it to cut through waterproof makeup, which it does well enough. Then I rinse it off and use my actual cleanser. Doing this works very well for my skin, but everyone is different. Everyone is sensitive to different things.
Would really like to see an updated facial hair care video (plus best sunscreens for the beard area and tips for people trying to grow a beard)! I know that most of your viewers probably don't have beards but it would be great for those of us who do and educational for those who don’t but might know someone who does 🌻
I’m not brand loyal. I do skin care on a budget. However, Curology and The Ordinary Argireline and their multi peptide eye serum will never be traded out. ❤❤
I know theres no such thing as perfection but bloody hell... your skin is looking perfect! Im currently experiencing alot of reddness in my skin and praying for tbe day it goes away
James can you nip round my house and put some moisturiser on my face. I have just used a cleansing balm and went straight into painting my nails. My face feels a little tight. Help! STAND DOWN! I found a re-hydrating spray toner. 💜🖤💋
What you're saying at 9:36 about the test giving unreliable results I really relate to, I have unfortunately very sensitive skin and so I can't use most products, (I mostly go to Sephora to look at packaging, marketing and merchandising tbh) but it's devalued a lot of creators (or even industry people) I once looked up to because, for me, very thick moisturiser has been a real godsend while the thinner ones just absorb too fast and it just doesn't work well for my skin and yet nearly everyone recommends thinner moisturiser, or even for hands scented moisturisers, which is a hard no-go for me. So really, now anyone saying skincare (or make up really too) is one size fits all *cough Drunk Elephant* maybe isn't realising that thats not a wholistic view and in the long run may cause them to be devalued when they, idk, maybe have some kind of negative effect on customers, who then, idk, complain, and then, idk, maybe -drunk- -elephant- -will- the brand will fight against the customer, and then give themselves a bad reputation, but idk tho, idk
James, you’ve gotten me back into skincare. You’re the reason I decided to finally update my routine and figure out what’s better for my skin, absolutely adore your videos so much!
You’re the reason I stopped using the Garnier micellar water and switched to Bioderma to remove my makeup and it was the best thing I’ve done in a long time 😩
I didn’t like the dermatica products they pilled so bad but do like the simplicity. Skin care has become so complicated. I no longer use a hydrating serum my moisturizer has the same humectants as the serums.
I use a garnier salicylic acid with eucalyptus cleanser, the ordinary glycolic acid toner, the ordinary salicylic acid serum, some by mi retinol eye cream or the ordinary 2% retinoid emulsion with the ordinary moisturiser. Sometimes argireline or matrixyl serum during the day. My skin is great, you don't need to use very expensive products or change things constantly. Also vaseline works great for dryness i love it around the eye area.
I’ve been using dandruf shampoo on my face and a Vaseline moisturizer and my face has been clearer than ever. It’s kinda not typical but I saw one girl on YT reals recommend it and I already had the products and so I thought why not. I haven’t had any major breakouts since. It’s been a few months. My skin isn’t perfect but it’s like night and day
As someone who has such sensitive skin, it's easier to list the active ingredients I'm not allergic to, using a single brand is way easier. I've found if one product from a brand works, most of the rest of their products will at least not give me a bad reaction
I’ve been following you for years and your advice as well as the advice from some of the dermatologists’ channels you source your info from and referenced has really transformed my skincare routine. The other day my boss asked me if I get Botox… like she doesn’t know I don’t get paid enough to afford Botox 😂
I'm so glad you did this. I've been thinking about these myths a lot lately. I always wash off micellar water, because I use it as a first cleanse to break down sunscreen and makeup. Even if I go in and use it until everything is off really well, I break out if I don't rinse off. I use Bioderma. So that's a perfect example of not one size fits all that you were talking about.
Garner Micellar water I'd the only one I've ever tried where I've WANTED to wash it off. Not only that, it's terrible at removing my makeup. Sainsbury's have an own brand micellar water that's like 2.50 for a big bottle and it works so much better! I usually wash mine off though, just because I use it as a first step in removing makeup
Yes I'm acne prone and sensitive and combo skin and my all time holy Grail is CeraVe moisturizer cream!!!! It's thick and I'm in love !!!! Ole Hendrickson peptide strength trainer is a great one too . I've tried about 50-60 and not 1 has beat the CeraVe ever !!! Everyone says I'm crazy for using CeraVe and but the only time I've been breaking out is when I try DIFFERENT BRANDS AND INGREDIENTS AND I'VE USED CERAVE 2 TIMES A DAY FOR Years AND IM NOT BROKEN OUT DAILY SO I KNOW ITS NOT FROM THAT .
I had not heard of anyone having a horrible reaction to the garnier micellar water except my sister and I. We were thinking we were just cursed with horrible skin (we weren’t blessed with great skin though). She works as a graphic designer in marketing for beauty/skincare/pharmacy and had access to discounted skincare & samples, she found the the bioderma micellar water a few years ago and we were like “wow.. this is what micellar water is supposed to be like” and it’s the only one we can use. But I know countless people that swear by garnier and don’t break out in a rash. Can’t relate but it’s refreshing knowing we aren’t the only ones. The La Roche Posay B5+ Baume was also lifechanging for us (and our mum) because we get bad eczema and it is super soothing.
Late to the party here, but as someone with chronic illnesses and dynamic disabilities I just wanted to drop a note to say that it meant a lot that you mentioned micellar waters might be used by people who can't always get to sink. Thank you
Using micellar water and leaving it on the skin isn’t horrible like you said but it also isn’t cleaning the skin as using a regular cleanser either like a lot of people think it does, it is going to leave dirt or makeup behind and sunscreen.
thank you so much for this. i always try to read the ingredients on things i use but more often than not, i have no idea what im looking for and my only compass is mainstream media and old wives tales. you clearly know what you’re talking about and its honestly so comforting and reassuring to hear the truth from a thoroughly educated person who isn’t just trying to sell me something. your skin is stunning btw (obviously). much love ✌️
I remember hearing the "switch up brands" myth quite a lot. The reasoning presented to me was that the products are designed to help in the short term but then stop working after a while so that you have to keep buying more products. Wild.
I always assumed people meant dont just buy every single stage from the same brand and that just because one product of theirs works for you doesnt mean all of their products are the best options for you But no idea if ive just fully misunderstood that
I just assumed it meant that a brand that is the best for cleansers isn't necessarily going to be the best for moisturisers, toners, serums etc. Pick and choose the best products for you across different brands. Although it does make sense that brands would formulate their products to work well together, even if there isn't a one-size-fits-all range of products.
There's too much going on with skincare, I can't deal with it. I think I look about the same regardless, and way too much pressure is being put on everybody to just buy a bunch of products in hopes of suddenly being perfect and beautiful. Thanks for your content 👍
im pretty low energy but i live in a state wgere its very very hot and i get very sweaty. i dont always have the energy to wash my face and apply my acne medication, so micellar water has become great for me for just whiping away that surface level of grime. im aware its not a replacement for washing, its just something i use just to try to clean up since i work out in 100 degree weather i actuslly only discovered it recently, i used to only use it as a makeup remover for years, but then i read closer and realised it said it could remove everyday grime. and i tried it on my bare skin after work and by cotton pad was fully brown haha! on the lighter side, but still, i was NOT expecting that amount of dirt to cone off on me, i didnt know thst that amoynt of grime was on my face every day! i suspect its mostly just natural oils, but still, it feels good to just whipe down my face and look at the dirty pad and know that thats off my face now
Active cleansers are great for beginners and young folk, actually. You get a more gentle introduction to active ingredients, and you can leave it on your face for a few minutes while you brush your teeth if you want more time. I introduced my skin to tret by putting a small amount on and then washing it off like a mask, very careful of my eyes. I have a SA cleanser and a serum, and I still notice a difference if I let my cleanser sit. It's doing a job and I can wash it off and the serum can still do it's thing but it's gonna be on longer. The combo hasn't been too much for my skin either. My oil cleaner breaks down spf and makeup, but my other cleanser might as well do a Lil something. Also, bioderma micellar water hits different than those Garnier ones. I use it in the mornings when I'm rushing and it's a nice alternative to a plain water rinse especially if I had some heavier stuff on my face the night before.
I used to believe that my cleanser was just for removing that excess oil/dirt after my first cleanse. Since changing to a cream cleanser with actives and extracts and it’s really changed my skin
I love Bioderma for mornings, and I do rinse it off. Application and rinsing saves me at least 30 seconds vs a traditional cleanse, AND I don't have to secure my enormous hair (saving another 30 seconds). Maybe I'm just lazy, but totally worth it IMO.
All I can say is there was this guy who never spoke to me one day said he didn't know what I was doing but to not stop as my skin looked radiant, the only thing different was I had started drinking water.
Like shampoos. for years i used sulphate/silicone free and my hair hated it. I used those because i was told those things are bad blah blah Now ive switched back and my hair is THRIVING. Nearly down to my tail bone 🥰
You should not have silicone in your shampoo, at least not ones that are not water solluible. But you can have them in your conditioner, leave in and else however you want. Most brands do that
I went to visit my sister today to reminisce about our dad & we were both complaining about our skin & she said "shut up your skin is beautiful" 😂🖤 I sent her some of your links & said "this is why my skin is so much better the last few years". Thank you James for the information you provide for us for free. You're a godsend.
I didn't start using micellar water so that I didn't have to rinse it off. I started using it because it's easier and less messy to clean my face that way. It's way easier to rinse off than a regular cleanser too. I almost always risne it off, very rarely I will leave it on. Some are very sticky feeling too which I hate. I like to use ones that have ingredients that are more in line with a toner anyway so no suds in them which usually makes them not be sticky.
I actually have a serious question. Many people with disabilities have a hard time doing simple daily care like washing their face. For example, sometimes I'm stuck in bed. What do you do to was your face then? A traditional cleanser isn't going to work. So what's best? Make up wipe? Miscler water?
I don't like leaving micellar water on my face because I feel like it doesn't take dirt/sweat/sunscreen off - it removes some but I still feel "dirty". I use it as a first step when I near make up to remove the bulk of it (and it's great on eye make up) and then I wash my face
Your such a great influencer & you seem to really care about your followers & understand what they want and need, I really appreciate that I just unsubscribe rot a girl that tried to say she was a influencer & cared about people & she completely changed & thought she was so pretty it ruined her whole attitude & career
the garnier micellar water i use it to wipe off my nivea milky cleanser sometimes especially if I'm wearing makeup then rinse with water most times i just rinse the milky cleanser with water I have another micellar water that's smaller and more portable, and it's cheap off brand and it's got my countrys "astma allergy" approval on it, and this one works great for removing makeup on the go (or other reasons) with a cheap moisturizer afterwards
What resources would you recommend for realistic, non- fearmongering representations of ” noncomedogenic” ingredients? Is there any place I can go to for a quick look at an objective, non biased comparison of actives? I believe for myself the trigger for breakouts is usually a certain product as a whole - I doubt I'm more sensitive to a single ingredient than the certain product. Whether it's that products formulation (or what it is idk) but I think for me its a product usually; but I believe a list of ingredients will be less skewed than one of products- how do we know a certain brand isnt the behind the scenes sponsor of a "black list" of acne/sensitizing un-safe products with the goal of portraying competition as a bad choice and themselves as "universally safe". It goes beyond that but in a bit shell... Now of course certain ingredients do go onto an instant no-go list for me but thats because of how Ive reacted to it in the past, not because of some arbitrary list. My goal is to try to get an idea of what might be better actives for myself and discover products I might have not otherwise tried. Or if that made no sense (currently sick af and little looped from cough syrup lol) what resources do you recommend would be worth looking at for our own education? I always want to be better informed and ultimately make informed decisions and smart purchases, not be victim to impulse buys based on hype or how much a company will spend on pr and they have a good public image because they give out a ton of free pr and thats the reason for the hype as opposed to their efficacy. Love your videos, informative and hilarious!
I feel like Garnier micellar water dries out my skin if I use it consistently like every day, but I have a little bottle to fix eyeshadow or eyeliner from time to time. Or if I have worn a loot of makeup and just want to wipe off the first layer before washing. I personally dont see the point in using micellar water every day when I wash my face anyway bc I feel like micellar water dont take off makeup fully 🤷♀️
I was a long time user of dermatica but then unsubscribed when they reduced the bottle sizes and increased their prices, phrasing it as if it’s somehow them doing us a favour instead of just shrinkflation.
I know a cleanser does matter because there's this one cleanser with glycolic acid that is the only thing that helped me with my hormonal breakouts. As soon as I stopped using it I started getting breakouts again. Used it again, no breakouts. Ran out and started using one with salicylic acid and I'm getting hormonal breakouts again. When my cleanser runs out, I'm getting the glycolic one again if I can find it for sure.
Cleansing is, everything for me - without Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish my extreme combination skin returns, oil slick down the middle/desert round the edges. No matter what I've tried from other brands, I'm middle aged and used it for 20+ years and nothing else balances and softens my remarkably unwrinkly skin!! Might not work for you but gotta be worth a try!
My understanding (just from hanging around "vintage age" prior Lol, ) Is that it originated due to the fear of your skin "becoming used" to the product- but from that i think it might go back a bit further- change oridicts after a while- to avoid becoming sensitised, or developing an allergy (which may have been misunderstood to be "Breakouts" ?)
Nurse here. I’ve recommended micellar water to hospital or nursing facility patients who can’t do a typical cleansing routine, that involved a decent amount of water. Having said that… I do suggest that they do use a splash of water, every other time they cleanse with this, just to remove any potential film that repeated use of micellar water could leave behind. My fav is also the Bioderma!
yeah i had to learn it the hard way that while something is labelled non comedogenic it doesn't mean it won't break me out. i went from having perfectly fine skin to having some terrible cysts while using some setting spray that thankfully went away after i stopped using it
I literally adore you and really trust your opinions on skin care. I have learned almost everything I know from you and truly appreciate your honesty. Thank you for continuing these highly informative and comforting videos❤
I only wash my face with soap once a week, & use micellar water (ultra sensitive by Laroche Posay) daily. My skin is dry & sensitive, so I use micellar water, essence, moisturizer & squalane oil on the daily. My skin type benefited greatly by removing soaps, but I can see where if something has a fragrance or ingredient your skin doesn't like, it shouldn't be used. Garnier micellar water gave me a chemical burn & I swore off micellar water until I gave up travel face wipes (for the environment). I experimented with about 5 until I bought this one & stuck with it. I never rinse it off, but I do wipe with a textured piece of cotton (?). Have been doing this for a year & it cleared up my acne bumps. I think the people who say definitively micellar water has to be washed off are either into using it as a double clease, or they don't like the residue feeling it leaves (maybe they have oily skin). But I was trained by my grandma to never use soap, only use cold cream... so I'm used to feeling oily, lol
I use the Garnier rosewater micellar water. I can leave it on with no issues. However the strange thing is that I can only use the rosewater one and not any of the other Garnier micellar water or any of their other products. I've never tried Bioderma. I feel I should give it a go. ❤
I can not use coconut oil or seed butters because they literally break me out, anywhere. Face and body and other people don’t believe me, but they also think coconut oil is a moisturizer 🤦♀️
Skin & hair care is very much a trial & error thing. Make sure the products can be returned for a full refund or see if there are samples you can try first to save $$$.

Thats because the healing ointment and other ointments like vaseline petroleum jelly are non comedogenic. Applying it is like applying a whole walled layer that doesn’t absorb in the skin.
@@fattiesunite2288 Exactly. Your skin won't take more than it needs or can. That's why collagen patches are pure bs.
The cerave healing ointment is non-comedogenic I believe :) glad it works for you
@wyltedleaves ive been using vaseline on my whole face and neck for years esp a few times a months since starting tretnoin and it really helped.
Not to mention I've also met women all my life who only use Vaseline or Beef Tallow, with perfect and beautiful skin... wild!
I’m glad I’m not on tik tok. From “debunking” videos I see, I am saving myself from exasperation 😂
My last social media platform was Instagram 😂. I’ve aged out of Snapchat and TikTok 🤷🏻♀️😂
@@SirThinks2MuchYeah, that could be a factor
Yes!!! I agree... these gen z tiktokers who think they invented everything from dnb to 90s fashion to makeup trends.
Omg we are the same 😭 I grew up thinking I had to dry my skin out
Same!!! Like im from Spain and here we were told the same lmao my poor skin hadn't seen a single drop of any kind of cream until I was like 26😂
NOT moisturizing makes it worse! We all learned that the hard way 😩
Same here… never used a moisturizer cause I thought I would break out more.
I was so confused like I'm pretty sure I subcribed to this UA-camr yesterday but something is different? Turns out it was his twin 🙈 **subbed here too now**
They have a channel where they do fun/entertaining videos together and their tagline is “this is your reminder that we’re not the same person” 😆
I swear it happens to most of us here at some point 😂
And then there is Marcus.
I started calling Robert "Scar" and James "Mufasa" cause that happened way too much I'm embarrassed how long it took to notice
so weird that you and your brother have the same genes but different reactions to products! goes to show how individual these things can be
I’ve never thought of that before! We have completely different ‘skin types’ too
I'm annoyed because some people still believe that drinking water or specific tea will clear your acne 🙄
Ik like the whole chlorophyll/green drops they love to promote
@@JustAFace_InTheCrowdPeople are showering twice a day? Why? My skin would be so ashy 😂

This is so interesting, I’m 2000-2010 we were told by brands that we SHOULD stick to one and only brand 😂 Which is also not necessary, as we know))
I completed 600 hours of esthetics school and this video answered questions I didn't know I I had! Thank you so much!
James is my comfort zone when I need to forget the world and concentrate on myself...he is knowledgeable and just soothing to listen to. ❤

My skin doesn't like Garnier but loves Nivea😅
I absolutely love James voice. I wish his voice was a skincare😂❤
Animal testing for cosmetic products is really strange. At this point we know “don’t put lead in your makeup” and things like that. No one is making a cosmetic product with a new/unusual enough compound to warrant that kind of testing.
Yeah, feels like a farce but I never see anyone question it.
I was really hoping James would make at least some sort of mention about the cruelty so I was a little disappointed since I know he donates to dog charities and what not 😢
Honestly vexed right now and James posting a new video is calming me down and saving a family relationship. Thank you.
😂💜💜
You should also get bonus points for using "vexed," it's a fabulous word. It should definitely be used more frequently.
0:37 I think the first time I heard this first from a hairdresser, because there was no line that had everything I needed to care for and style my (natural textured) hair. I think it traveled from haircare.
i used that micellar water once and threw it away. my skin and eyes were super irritated. but i see some of my fav youtubers use it and love it 😩
I use it because it’s cheaper than cleansing balm. I’ve been having a fine time
I have very sensitive skin, but it works fine for me.
Different skin, Different needs
Same, and it doesn't work for my waterproof mascara, regardless of the brand of mascara or micellar. Oil cleansing works better for me all round
Ooh does that help with dark circles?
@@iamjackspyramidshapedhelmet the Ordinary Multipeptide eye serum does!
😂😂😂
Thank you James for busting those myths! 💜
James, you’ve gotten me back into skincare. You’re the reason I decided to finally update my routine and figure out what’s better for my skin, absolutely adore your videos so much!
You’re the reason I stopped using the Garnier micellar water and switched to Bioderma to remove my makeup and it was the best thing I’ve done in a long time 😩
Omg love that 🥹🥹
I feel like a chemist or something whenever i buy the bioderma micellar water, i love the packaging
I didn’t like the dermatica products they pilled so bad but do like the simplicity. Skin care has become so complicated. I no longer use a hydrating serum my moisturizer has the same humectants as the serums.
poor break out bunnies :(
Yes, there's no need to test on animals, even physicians have been speaking out against animal testing.
That's what I was thinking!! When I saw the thumbnail I was really hoping James would mention something about animal testing cruelty 😢
@@catchmybreak tbh that’s a huge can of worms

You are the sassy Bob Ross of skincare and I love it so much. Not sure if that made sense to anyone except me but it’s meant as a compliment 🤣💕
I ended up deleting tiktok because of the sheer amount of misinformation going around on there. It's crazy
James your skin looks sooo healthy and you're so glowy! 🥰 I'm gonna need a 'current skincare' video please~
What are you wearing on your lips? The minimal tint looks great ❤
Yes I'm acne prone and sensitive and combo skin and my all time holy Grail is CeraVe moisturizer cream!!!!
James could really do skincare in an asmr tone of voice and I'd still watch
Thank you
My skincare routine is mostly one brand. It's all about what helps my severely dry skin
Same here. The fact I also can't do most fragrances on my face (triggers migraines) tends to leave a rare few brands I can use on my face.
Wild.
I always assumed people meant dont just buy every single stage from the same brand and that just because one product of theirs works for you doesnt mean all of their products are the best options for you
But no idea if ive just fully misunderstood that
I just assumed it meant that a brand that is the best for cleansers isn't necessarily going to be the best for moisturisers, toners, serums etc. Pick and choose the best products for you across different brands. Although it does make sense that brands would formulate their products to work well together, even if there isn't a one-size-fits-all range of products.
I’m really glad that I’m not on TikTok. I love learning more about skincare and how everything works.
My face doesn't like any micellar water. Been using Banila Balm and love it
There's too much going on with skincare, I can't deal with it. I think I look about the same regardless, and way too much pressure is being put on everybody to just buy a bunch of products in hopes of suddenly being perfect and beautiful. Thanks for your content 👍
Best background so far 🫶 always good to come here for Jamisis videos 💜💜💜
When i hv difficult sleeping.. i play james's video.. 1 video is enough for me to fall asleep😂 thats how soothing james's voice ❤
im pretty low energy but i live in a state wgere its very very hot and i get very sweaty. i dont always have the energy to wash my face and apply my acne medication, so micellar water has become great for me for just whiping away that surface level of grime. im aware its not a replacement for washing, its just something i use just to try to clean up since i work out in 100 degree weather
i actuslly only discovered it recently, i used to only use it as a makeup remover for years, but then i read closer and realised it said it could remove everyday grime. and i tried it on my bare skin after work and by cotton pad was fully brown haha! on the lighter side, but still, i was NOT expecting that amount of dirt to cone off on me, i didnt know thst that amoynt of grime was on my face every day! i suspect its mostly just natural oils, but still, it feels good to just whipe down my face and look at the dirty pad and know that thats off my face now
I would absolutely love to hang out with James. Like, have tea and talk about skincare and just be besties ❤
Thicker products solved my chronic 7 years old severe acne. On my oily skin.
Happy Friday everyone ❤ what are we debunking today
All I can say is there was this guy who never spoke to me one day said he didn't know what I was doing but to not stop as my skin looked radiant, the only thing different was I had started drinking water.
I’m so glad I got rid of my garnier for bioderma. Same price but huge skin difference.
All tested on animals 😢 I use Simple.
Like shampoos. for years i used sulphate/silicone free and my hair hated it. I used those because i was told those things are bad blah blah
Now ive switched back and my hair is THRIVING.
You're a godsend.
wake up babe, James is debunking skincare myths!!
Your such a great influencer & you seem to really care about your followers & understand what they want and need, I really appreciate that I just unsubscribe rot a girl that tried to say she was a influencer & cared about people & she completely changed & thought she was so pretty it ruined her whole attitude & career
the garnier micellar water i use it to wipe off my nivea milky cleanser sometimes especially if I'm wearing makeup then rinse with water most times i just rinse the milky cleanser with water
I have another micellar water that's smaller and more portable, and it's cheap off brand and it's got my countrys "astma allergy" approval on it, and this one works great for removing makeup on the go (or other reasons) with a cheap moisturizer afterwards
@Jack-px8lf I dont use oil cleanser bc Im too lazy hehe if my makeup is very stubborn I just go twice with a gel cleanser
Dermatica is great. I helped my mom set up her reoccurring tret prescription and she loves it
I put off their subscription service for so long because I just wasn’t bothered I guess?! But tried it and loved it.
Hi❤ I'm from Sweden🇸🇪
My understanding (just from hanging around "vintage age" prior Lol, )
Is that it originated due to the fear of your skin "becoming used" to the product- but from that i think it might go back a bit further- change oridicts after a while- to avoid becoming sensitised, or developing an allergy (which may have been misunderstood to be "Breakouts" ?)
I Could Not Focus On The Vídeo w/ The Two Reflected Light On Your Nose. 😂 I’ll Try Again Later.
Garnier micellar was so bad, I kept it to spot clean my brushes but could not let it near my face
Woww just shows how different skins are garnier micellar water is my favorite. It did never anything bad for me, I love it

yeah i had to learn it the hard way that while something is labelled non comedogenic it doesn't mean it won't break me out. i went from having perfectly fine skin to having some terrible cysts while using some setting spray that thankfully went away after i stopped using it
I use Micellar Water as Make up remover so I always rinse it off.
Thank you for another great informative video! 💜🖤💜🖤
Tested on animals.
